Automobile, 1946 Plymouth Special DeLuxe. In 1946 our nation was emerging from a massive global conflict. Post WWII showed Americans what our industrial powerhouse could do. The automotive industry was at the forefront of that. Cars like the 1946 Plymouth Special DeLuxe were truly a beacon of hope. In just one short year, it showed what automotive progress could mean in the marketplace. This remarkable vehicle was crafted by the hard working hands at Plymouth, a division of Chrysler Corporation. It was one of the first models to signal the coming resurgence of American manufacturing after World War II. More importantly, it was among the first cars to be produced after the secession of the American wartime manufacturing machine. This Plymouth was one of the many symbols of peacetime prosperity and technological advancements. The interior was fitted with high-quality fabrics and durable materials designed to hold up to the use of families of the day. And it was spacious. The "suicide" rear doors made passenger entry and exit easy. The dashboard was designed for functionality, housing an AM radio and heater controls within easy reach. Under the hood is the 218ci inline flathead 6 that gave the driver 95hp. That was paired w/a 3-speed manual transmission. It set a precedent for post-war car production with its blend of affordability, durability and style. Plymouth produced both the Special and the Special De Luxe as lower and higher trim levels respectively. This model helped establish Plymouth as a brand synonymous with value and reliability—a reputation that would carry on for decades. The Plymouth also had its share of limelight with appearances in period films and television shows which further cemented its place in American culture. Although not known for breaking speed records or dominating sales charts, its real claim to fame is its role in revitalizing American automotive production post-WWII. A full-sized car w/an odometer reading of 70,386 miles.  Original condition w/new battery & fluids.  VIN #11502560
