Bus, VW Microbus 21 window Deluxe "Samba", 7 Seater, Model 251. This VW Bus comes with impeccable DNA. German automotive engineering has had a long history of producing automobiles that had appeal to very specific market segments. Take a look at the historic production lines from the Mercedes-Benz to the Volkswagen. The Benz with high quality and performance came with status prestige. Move on to VW economy and value that came with counterculture prestige. They understood consumers better than most in the industry. The VW Bus is one superb example. The Bus went into production in 1950. In 1967 it was the Transporter...aka Type 2. The Beetle was Type 1. In the early stages of its life cycle...it was a "Hippie" van. One of their most memorable 1970's ad campaigns showed the bus painted in colorful flowers of the day. The caption read, "See the Van Gogh!" Their ads had the same flavor and feel of the 7up counterculture ads for the Uncola. The marketing efforts worked. This 1967 Deluxe 21 window Volkswagen Bus with six hinged side windows, is a classic Deluxe model. Its story begins with its "Factory Birth Certificate" showing its original German build on August 4, 1966. It's true to its build specs excepting for the color. This Bus was originally painted in velvet green. A previous owner repainted it this correct factory color code some years ago. It had been owned by a family in TN who cared for it for 20+ years. It was acquired by the current owner in 2020. Since that acquisition, it's been carefully and meticulously restored from top to bottom and front to back. The entire project was done using correct replacement parts. Starting with the canvas top, it's in excellent shape as is the luggage rack on top. Moving toward the front, the Safari windows, with correct Sekurit Glass are one of the great features to make this a much sought after classic collector Volkswagen. The last year for the Safari windows was 1967. As you can see from the photos, it looks brand new! The interior, with Mesh Platinum Leatherette is in equally superb condition. That's right up to the original Blaupunkt restored radio, offering news and entertainment while on those road trips. On the other end of the Bus, the power supply pushing you is a 1600 air-cooled dual port motor which runs great. And the 4-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly. Every decision excepting the respray made during the restoration many years ago was done with a goal of retaining its originality.  If you're inclined to look under the Bus...you'll see a solid rust-free structure of original sheet metal running the full length. One more bit of commitment to restoring an excellent example of this rare classic. If you are the perfectionist, this bus needs very little for you to address. Most owners would simply fill the tank, open the front windows and head down an open road. As you enjoy the drive your passengers can enjoy the sights all around, including an envious view of a blue sky. An added plus....you'll enjoy the positive attention wherever it goes.  This VW 21 Window Bus seldom comes to market in the condition you'll see here. It's won multiple "Best of Show Awards"! So if you're ready to own one of the most sought after VW's and your goal is to get a superb one, there's little more to do now than just hold your bidding card high. It's ready for a new home and a grand view road trip. You can be the one to drive it there! VIN# 257005368. Odometer shows 95,576 miles. Less that 2,000 miles since major restoration, with additional detail work continued until recently.
