TO GENERALS RONALD BROCK. & CHESTER DAWSON. Cal. 32 ACP. S# 571157. Bbl. 3 5/8". Round blade front sight. Square notch rear sight. Matching numbers on slide & frame. Type V Colt 1903 General Officer's pistol mfg. in 1945. Pistol has three safeties, a grip safety, mag safety & thumb safety. This pistol is documented to have been issued to two US Generals. The first was Ronald C. Brock. Brock served both in the NY National Guard & the active duty Army. He was promoted to Brigadier General in 1943 & commanded the Field Artillery Regiment of the 65th Infantry Division during WW2. The 65th served in Germany at the end of the war. Brock would later be promoted to Major General & command the 27th Armored Division, an NY National Guard Unit in the 1950's. The gun was later issued to Brigadier General Chester C. Dawson, also of the 27th Armored Division in 1965. Parkerized finish. Right side of frame is properly marked "U.S. PROPERTY". Checkered walnut grips w/ silver Rampant Colt medallions. MAGS: 4 factory 8 rd. blued all in near excellent condition. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: cleaning rod, plain brown cardboard box, pistol instruction sheet, 34" waist leather garrison dress belt w/ dual mag pouch, holster & belt w/ US seal. Also included are several documents relating to the pistol & the Generals it was issued to. Two copies of the Ordnance sales receipts one for each General are included among these documents. One is dated 1954 & the other 1965. Also among the documents is a biography of Major General Brock. CONDITION: grips show a few flattened points & some light handling wear. Action is functional when hand cycled. Metal retains 97% original parkerized finish w/ a couple small oxidation spots on right side of slide behind muzzle, some marks on lower left side of grip frame near pin, a few light handling marks & some light operational wear. Bright near excellent bore. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Edward Scott Meadows. (24-708/MJC). CURIO. $5000-7000.
