Very Fine Cecil G. Brooks Personal Cased Pair of Engraved, Gold Inlaid, Silver Mounted, and Relief Carved Contemporary Kentucky Pistols and Accessories -A) C.G. Brooks Flintlock Kentucky Pistol

Very Fine Cecil G. Brooks Personal Cased Pair of Engraved, Gold Inlaid, Silver Mounted, and Relief Carved Contemporary Kentucky Pistols and Accessories -A) C.G. Brooks Flintlock Kentucky Pistol
These pistols were handcrafted by the late master gunmaker Cecil G. Brooks (1913-2006). Brooks hand built all of the NRA keynote speaker presentation rifles from 1955 to 2005, including Charlton Heston who held the rifle over his head during the famous "out of my cold, dead hands" speech. He also built rifles on custom order for regular folks, and his firearms are highly prized and valuable collectibles. The maple case for this pair has a brass plaque inscribed: "The/Personal/Guns/of C.G. Brooks." The pistols are a matched pair with the first in flintlock configuration and the second in percussion. They feature extensive embellishment consisting of engraving, pairs of gold bands at the muzzle and breech ends of the barrels, silver mounts, and a mix of raised relief and incised carving on the curly maple stocks. The case contains a coordinating powder flask with "BROOKS/1986" and a squirrel scene on it, .38 caliber ball mold with antler handles, an antler powder measure, eagle head vent pick with antler sheath, and a small Hazard powder tin.
