SN 19284. Cal 44. U.S. contract Colt M1860 Army percussion revolver in .44 manufactured 12/10/1861 and shipped to Washington arsenal with an order of 500 guns. 1 in 1861. This common revolver over 200000 made in uncommonly high condition has a four-screw frame with stock cut-outs on each side of the recoil shield and back strap. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the one-line legend: "- ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-". "COLTS/PATENT" is stamped on the left side of the frame. The barrel cylinder and back strap have the military blue finish while the loading lever frame and hammer are color case hardened. The trigger guard is brass and the one-piece walnut grip has an oil finish. The cylinder is roll-marked with the usual Texas Navy battle scene from 1843 and stamped "COLTS PATENT NO." with matching “19284” and "PAT. SEPT 10TH 1850". All of the visible serial numbers match: the full serial number is stamped on the barrel frame trigger guard cylinder and back strap. The partial serial number "9284" is stamped on the arbor pin. Wedge is unnumbered. "T" "C" or "B" sub-inspection marks are stamped on most components. A lightly stamped ordnance inspection that consists of three scriptic letters surrounded by an oval is on the lower left side of the grip there are no markings on the right side. CONDITION: Near excellent with over 90 blue the cylinder beginning to brown but with deep and vivid naval scene case colors bright with light freckling grips with a few superficial handling marks. Mirror bright bore. All cylinder safety pins are intact Perfect manual mechanics.
