Lot # 86043 CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE ORDER TO APPREHEND DESERTERRare document printed on brown adversity paper bearing the imprint of the "Confederate States of America, War Department, Bureau of Conscription", dated December 23, 1863. From Richmond, Va. described the search for war deserter, Private J.W. Robinson, 8th La. and the call for his arrest. Usually, Southern soldiers were allowed home frequently to check upon their families and homes, which makes this piece all the more significant.

Lot # 86044 CIVIL WAR LETTER DESCRIBING BATTLE WITH INDIANSManuscript in 19.5" x 15" frame dictating the battle with U.S. forces after the Santee Sioux Indians of Mississippi were 'swindled out of half the land' that was promised to them; 800 settlers were murdered; afterwards the U.S. held its largest mass public execution when 38 Indians were hanged. The letter was written four days before the hangings by Private R.B. Coffin of Co 'D', 6th Minnesota Infantry. Like accounts of Indian battles during the Civil War are very rare.

Lot # 86052 LEVI LINCOLN SIGNED COURT DOCUMENTDated May 20, 1782, this court document describes a claim for "151 pounds, 13 shillings, and one penny" (continental currency was virtually worthless at the time) ordered by Levi Lincoln; at the time he was a judge of the Probate Court. Also added two years later is note advising a warrant be put out if the payment is not received. Several other signatures on the document which is contained in a 12.5" x 18" frame.

Describes the retreat by his colonel which forced the men to endure hunger and fatigue as they marched back to Washington; also described is the poor condition of the Rebel soldiers.
