Lot # 1 8LW-103 US ADVERTIZERLOT 1 Original advertisement for U. S. Cartridge Co. shot shells, dated 1927, measuring approximately 23-1/2” high by 15” wide. The artwork is signed in the block — Joe Burgess and dated 1927 in the right corner, and shows a young hunter with his hunting dogs sitting by a cabin with lake and mountains in the background. The artwork is in good condition showing some staining and aging but generally good overall and shows the lithographer’s marking in left corner. There is a foreign gun dealer’s stamp in the right corner in French, which seems to put his location in Canada. The artwork is nicely framed and matted. Est.: $300-$600.

Lot # 3 8MW-73 S&W HAND EJECT #32802LOT 3 Smith & Wesson, 32-20 Hand Ejector revolver, blue finish, checkered wood grips, #22802, with 5” barrel, and double loop western-type holster marked Diamond Brand. The revolver remains in good original condition showing 30%-50% drifting original blue finish. Grips are good with some even high point and edge wear, some minor erosion and normal aging just starting with an index line between cylinder stops, and 30%-50% case hardening on hammer and trigger. Good action, good bore and good overall. The leather holster is fair showing some damage, tears, carry and use, and has been with this 32-20 a long while. Est.: $200-$400.

Hershfield, 1864, from Helena, Mont., showing pioneer with rifle, an old print of the Wells Fargo Express Building in San Francisco. Five pieces total. All in good condition showing normal aging. Lot # 7 8MW-62 STEVENS CRACKSHOTLOT 7 Stevens Crackshot .22 cal. falling block rifle with 21-1/2” half-round half-octagon factory barrel mounted with Lyman tang sight and breech type front sight showing British proofs. The rifle is fine to excellent original condition showing 98%-99%+ original blue, approximately 95%-98% bright original case hardening just starting to drift to silver. The stocks are fine to excellent with just some minor storage and handling marks. The original Steven favorite buttplate is retained. The action is crisp; the bore excellent. Lot # 12 9BE-49 APACHE W/ IVORYLOT 12 Pinfire Apache-style fist pistol, approx. 7mm, 6 shot, engraved with ivory grips, Belgian proofed, #NSNV. The pistol remains in very good original condition showing 75%-85% original blue on barrel, some scattered light erosion and pin prick pitting just starting. The frame, hammer and balance of metal surfaces show their satin grey or bright polish which is just starting to dull and age naturally. The ivory grips are very good with some yellowing, slight age cracks and just normal patina. The original ejector rod is screwed into the butt. Action good and generally crisp overall. Lot # 19 9AC-8 PHOTO FLYS GALLERYLOT 19 Original 19th century photograph of young boy on photographer’s gold-embossed card, Fly’s Gallery, Tombstone, A.T. (for Arizona Territory). The image is in good to very fine condition. This Lobby Card is in remarkable condition. Fly’s Gallery of Photography, operated by Camillus “Buck” Sidney Fly, was right in the heart of Tombstone and actually was next door to the shootout at the O.K. Corral. From the style of the boy’s dress and the chair he is leaning on, we would guess the image to be about the 1870s. Est.: $300-$500.

Lot # 20 9BE-171 PINFIRELOT 20 24-shot Metraileuse revolver in approximately 11.4 mm, serial #6, with bracket mount; these French revolvers are of heavy construction and measure approximately 16-1/2” from end of frame to tip of barrel; barrel is approximately 9-1/2” and weigh almost seven pounds; the condition is good with a brown patina finish, some light to moderate scattered erosion and pinprick pitting and some slightly heavier pitting on the front of the cylinders; the pistol shows a large ring at the front of the trigger where it could be fired from a lanyard; many ideas as to the use of these oddity revolvers has been put forth by collectors and authors and the most reasonable is they were made to be mounted on the bow of a small motor craft or could be fired by lanyard when mounted at top of a trench or wall. Lot # 21 9CG-4 LG CARVED BRIT HORNLOT 21 Large powder horn measuring approximately 18” across the curve and nearly 11” in circumference. The horn is finely scrimshawed with Scottish motifs showing 42nd regiment, G. R and crown with British crests, classic Greek and Roman heads, strands of arms, thistles and other European motifs including portrait of George III. The horn is mounted with a fancy brass work band, which is typical Victorian in its styling and nicely engraved with scrollwork. There is a number 18 on the center plaque indicating an issue number or reporting number of some type. The horn retains its original wood plug and spout. The bottom of the horn is decorated with small brass tacks. The horn is in good to very good condition, and we would date it to early to mid 19th Century. There are some slight nicks and small areas of typical horn-type losses. A very impressive, large powder horn. Est.: $750-$1,500.

Lot # 22 8JD-2 PAIR BEADED GUANTLETSLOT 22 Pair of nicely beaded gauntlets with fringe showing floral and cross motif, multi-colored beads including greasy yellow, circa 1890-1910, showing trade cloth piping. Gloves measure approximately 15” from end to end, and are for a good size man’s hand. The condition is good to very good. The tops of the gloves are much older than the bottom portion, which appears to have been added later. An attractive set with exceptionally good beadwork. Est.: $400-$800.

Lot # 23 MAP-21 32 AUTO CHILEAN POLICELOT 23 Early Ortgies' Patent by DWM, .32 cal. automatic pistol, #400, with Chilean National Crest stamped on right side, no slide marking just DWM in script on left with German commercial proofs. The pistol is mounted with original checkered wood stocks and has been restored to excellent condition by an excellent gunsmith. Approximately 99%+ of the restored finish remains. Lot # 24 MAP-14 ALL METAL AIR GUNLOT 24 Air gun walking stick, marked patent pending 1881. The gun measures approximately 37” from grip to tip and approximately .44 cal. smooth bore. The gun is of steel construction with copper brazing, fitted with sights and was originally fed through a reservoir in the stock, which was charged by a pump. A key mechanism similar to a clock key cocked the gun and exposed a button trigger, which popped out when cocked. The condition is fair, showing a gray steel patina finish with scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting, and probably was either originally painted or covered in leather. An interesting air gun cane. Est.: $500-$1,000.

Lot # 25 8LW-53 ASTON 1851LOT 25 U.S. Model 1842 Aston .54 cal. percussion single shot U.S. military-issue horse pistol dated 1851, in very good original condition. The barrel and lock show their original arsenal bright with some slight staining, minor erosion and some light to moderate pitting developing around the breech area at the rear of the barrel. The metal surfaces are generally very good+. The stock is very good+ to near fine showing two sharp cartouches on left side, small inspection stamp and generally very good+ to near fine wood with just one small chip from bottom edge beneath lock and some other small imperfections. The breech area shows a full complement of military inspections and the tang is also dated 1851. The swivel ramrod is completely original and the brass mounts show a light patina. An exceptional Aston pistol with crisp inspector’s cartouches. Est.: $1,000-$2,000. |
