19th Century British Officers Khaki Foreign Service Uniform & Accessories

Nice example of the British Army Foreign Service Tunic in a Kharki tan twill (tan with a slight green tint). 4 pleated pockets w/bronze Victorian crown and Lt. Rank pip on each side of standing collar. Removable white collar insert attached to collar by brass stud buttons. Measures about 38" in the chest - Beautiful condition with removable Victorian crown General service buttons. Lot includes Heavy tan will breeches - 32" waist with brass button fly and suspender buttons & laced calves. Also pair of rough-out leather leggings and an outstanding early Webley revolver holster - full flap with attached/adjustable leather shoulder sling - a rarity in itself! In the British army, officers rank was switched from the collar to the shoulders in 1880, but khaki uniforms did not come into common use until somewhat later in that decade. Officers usually wore regimental buttons, the buttons on this tunic are enlisted-style general service buttons. Very good example of a rare uniform recently released from "Western Museum of Scouting" which was in Los Angeles, CA. It was displayed along with another uniform that was represented as belonging to Baden Powell. There is no provenance to support this but the uniform is quite rare on its own accord!

Remington Model 4-s "american Boy Scout" Rolling Block Rifle, .22 Short

Rare variation of the scarce "Military Model". Famous and rugged Rolling Block action, single shot. 28" barrel. Rough bore from shooting corrosive ammo in the past. Not unusual for older .22s. The blue finish has mostly aged to grey. Wood shows handling, but is free from cracks or fractures. Steel buttplate. Missing barrel band, handguard, and rear sight. Does have the bayonet stud. There is a small chip missing from the breechblock thumb lever, but the action is tight. One source says fewer than 1400 made of this model. The Blue Book shows the 4-S as chambered for S-L-LR. This model is specifically marked "22 Short" and a Long Rifle cartridge will not chamber. Perhaps another variation? A multiple appeal rifle for collectors of Remington, boys rifles, single shots, and especially Boy Scouting.
