5 Military US Army Reserve CERTIFICATES, Scrapbook

Offered here is a collection of named U.S. Army Reserves documents from the early 1990s and a leatherette Army scrapbook. The documents are all certificates and citations for one Jeffery Mazza. The book, measuring 12.5 by 14 inches, shows light wear consistent with age. It includes several acetate-covered pages for the display of military records and photos. The documents are in very good condition. Overall, a great collection of military documents from the 1990s.

3 Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom US Military Army PATCHES

Offered here is a collection of three patches from the U.S. military's Middle Eastern campaigns. Two of the patches — partially embroidered — are from Desert Storm and measure 2.5" by 3.5" and larger. One patch is from Operation Iraqi Freedom and is 5" in diameter. All are in good condition with no notable damage.

Vintage WWII Era Lemaire Fabt,Schiller Opera Binoculars

This pair of opera binoculars was made by Lemaire Fabt, and used around the period of WW II. The lenses swivel out by pulling the lever, and the leather covers fold down for protection when closed. The center cylinder adjusts the focus. They are marked LEMAIRE FABT PARIS on the eyepieces, and the name SCHILLER BERLIN is etched on the bar between the eye pieces. These binoculars are functional, and the overall condition is very good. There is some paint wear and indentations on the leather, but this may have been wear a closure fit on. These measure about 4 1/2" wide x 3 3/4" long, and the glass lenses are about 1 1/4" in diameter.
These are nice for any collector of optics, or WW II era items.

This Challenge Coin was made to recognize medical care given to U.S. soldiers in Wisconsin.

This is a lot consisting of 4 Post-WWII era U.S. Military metal insignia pins. Included in this lot are two identical pins that read: "To Serve And Excel." These pins measure approximately 1" by 1.25". The next is a pin, which reads: "C.A.P." This pin measures .5" by 1". The fourth item is a U.S. Coat of Arms Eagle pin measuring .75" by 1". All of the pins are clutch-back style and in very good condition.

WWII U.S.S. Memphis London Baseball Game Photograph

This is an original WWII era 3 x 5 photo of the U.S.S. Memphis Baseball Team. The team is pictured in both baseball and military uniforms. The stats above show that they had a good season. This was taken in the park, with seating. Billboards can be seen above the stands, one being for Army Club Cigarettes, and the other for another product, partly out of frame. The print is on Velox paper, and its condition is very good, with slight bending. The image is clear and crisp, in a slightly sepia tone.

This terrific photo will be excellent for a collector of WWII or Navy militaria, or baseball memorabilia.

Its condition is good, and it shows mild wear consistent with age, including some toning and curling.

Offered here is a very interesting collection of WW II era military documents. Some of the documents are named to Cpl. Hugh Reagan. Many of the pages relate to the 6th Air Force corporal's performance in a company production of the play "Of Mice and Men," including letters of commendation from commanding officers and a 6th Air Force "Best Acting" certificate. WWII B-17 Heroic Air Gunner Named Group LETTERS PHOTOS

Offered here is a very interesting collection of items outlining the combat bravery of one Staff Sergeant Michael Arooth of Springfield, Mass. Included in this lot are a copy of the airman's 1943 Distinguished Service Cross citation, a re-print of a military portrait, several 50s-era news clippings detailing Arooth commemorations and a letter (and annotated copy of that letter) dated 1981 in which Arooth recalls his wartime experiences. All show wear consistent with age but are overall in good condition.

Korean War Air Force Pilot Grouping PATCHES PHOTOS WING

Here is a very interesting lot of early 1950s Korean War era pilot's items, including 40 plus photographs, 5 patches and a silver bullion wing on tan twill. The patches measure between 2 and 3 inches in diameter. The wing is 3 inches long. The photographs included in this auction are divided between touristic shots of Korea and intimate scenes from the life of this pilot (name unknown). Some of the photos show curling and yellowing, one has surface scuffs. The items in this lot do have wear consistent with age, but overall they are in excellent condition and offer an fascinating glimpse into the life of an early Air Force flyer.

The cloth is purple silk, with fringe border, and the design is done in silver and gold tone thread. There are a few minor thread snags and stains on back. Overall it is in very good condition. The size is 17" x 17". This is an attractive ornamental banner.

WWII Army Air Force CBI Cloth Blood Chit No Characters

This WW II era Army Air Force blood chit is cloth, in a multi-piece construction, with two flags, but no characters. It is in very good condition, with no tears or stains. The size is 7½" x 14". This chit is particularly nice because of the fine quilting. It is unsual that this chit would have been made to this point without the addition of characters, so this is a certainly a rare chit.

This collection of 15 period original black and white photographs dates from the 1930s and 1940s. All of the photos depict U.S. soldiers, mostly in uniform. Some vehicles partly appear in the photos, including a plane, and a ship. Measurements range from 1¾" x 2¾" to 4" x 5". Their condition is good, and they show mild wear consistent with age, including some toning and curling.
This is a nice photo group of good American soldiers.

Perhaps the most visually stunning of the "e;X"e; planes the Douglas X-3 Stiletto looked like Mach 2 just sitting on the ramp. Flown on three of its six USAF test flights by veteran test pilot Lt. Col. Frank K. "e;Pete"e; Everest, Jr. the X-3 was said to be the most difficult flying aircraft encountered by the test pilots who flew it. the stubby-winged "e;Stiletto"e; required a 3 mile takeoff run to get airborne, and this with full flaps. This print is signed by the artist and personally autographed by the pilot Brig. Gen. Frank K. "e;Pete"e; Everest Jr. L/E of 850 and the image measures 25"e; x 21 1/2"e;. This print has never been mounted and is in perfect condition. It comes with an extensive COA suitable for framing.

Aviation Art Six Turnin' and Four Burnin' Machat B-36

A giant by almost every measurement, the B-36 was a unique aircraft for its time. With a design laid out in the midst of the war years, the B-36 was an engineering and manufacturing marvel when compared to the typical WWII bomber. At 163 feet the B-36 fuselage was a long a a B-29 and B-17 placed nose to tail and the 230 foot wing span was more than twice that of the B-24. the tip of the rudder was 46 feet 10 inches off the ground, almost the length of the B-25. With six P&W R4360 piston engines and four GE J-47 jet engines, the mammoth bomber could fly at more than 43,000 feet with a top speed of 418 mph. With fuel weapons and a crew of 16 men, the maximum weight of the bomber reached 410,000 pounds. Typical of the rapid pace of technological developments of the time the B-36 Peacemaker had a relatively short operational life, with the last model being retired in early 1959. Of the 325 B-36's that were built only four examples exist today. This is a L/E print of 1000 copies and is signed by the artist and personally autographed by the pilot, Retired Convair Test Pilot Beryl Erickson. It has never been mounted and is in perfect condition. It comes with an extensive COA that is suitable for framing and has an image size of 27"e; x 13 1/2"e;.

Aviation Art Too Close for Comfort Fellows P-38 Corsair

Taking a "e;target of Opportunity"e; after a raid on a Japanese floatplane base in the Shortland Islands, five P-38's and a lone F4U attack an enemy vessel. Originaly intended to be combined fight strike force with eight USAAC P-38's and eight USMC F4U's, the mission was a night takeoff and join-up followed by a low level flight to the target area. A difficult night rendezvous, mechanical problems and enroute weather resulted in only six aircraft reaching the target. After a successful attack on the floatplane base the returning fighters found an unsuspecting Japanese ship. Repeated strafing passes by the fighters left the ship listing and on fire. On his final pass, P-38 pilot Rex Barber focused on the target a fraction too long. When he pulled up the left wing struck the ship's radio mast and sheared almost 4 feet off his wing. With no apparent effects on flying characteristics the pilots returned to their bases. This print is sign by the artist and personally autographed by P-38 pilot Col. Rex Barber and Corsair Pilot Capt. Eben Dale. This print is a L/E print of 850 and has never been mounted and is in perfect condition. It comes with an extensive COA that even shows the recovered wing tip that was later found.The print image measures 25 3/4"e; x 19"e;

A flight of Luftwaffe "e;Wolves"e; sweep along the French coast seeking evidence of any incoming threat from across the channel, or even a chance engagement. FW190-A5s from 9/JG2, the "e;Richthofen Jagdgeschwader"e; patrol the beach at Normandy's Mont St. Michel on a summers day in 1943. This L/E print of 650 prints is S/N by the artist. This print has never been mounted and is in perfect condition. It comes with a COA that is suitable for framing.The image measures 19 1/2"e; x 13"e;.

Aviation Art Rumbold's Renegades Poole Typhoon

By Late 1944 there were 23 RAF squadrons operating Typhoons from bases on the continent and the aircraft played a major role in defeating the German army in the west by roaming the skies over the enemy. This print shows the fire power of the Typhoon as Squadron Leader Marten T.S. Rumbold leads his renegades in an attack on an enemy vehicle Repair Depot in Doetinchem, Holland, on March 19, 1945. This L/E of 1000 is personally signed by the artist and comes with a COA that is suitable for framing. This print has never been mounted and is in perfect condition. The image measures 20"e; x 15"e;.

Still in front line service as a major component of our strategic bomber forces, the Boeing B-52 was built before most of its crew members were even born. The first flight of the YB-52 prototype was April 15, 1952 and the production that followed reflected a continued development of the massive bomber. Boeing's B-52 Stratofortress was the core around which the modern Strategic Air Command was developed. The final version was the B-52H, to many "e;BUFF"e; pilots a real Cadillac when compared to the earlier models. This L/E print of 650 is sign and numbered by the artist. It has never been mounted and is in perfect condition. The image measures 23"e; x 15"e;.

Mustang!by John Young depicts a North American P-51 Mustang cruising in a Summer sky. This print measures 33"e; x 21 1/4"e; and has an image size of 30"e; x 17 1/4"e;. This print has never been mounted and is in perfect condition.

This is an open edition print depicting Capt. Richard L. West, first and leading ace of the 35th Fighter Sqdn. 5 USAAF as seen in his P-38J on one of the 173 combat missions he flew in the Southwest Pacific Theater during WWII. This print is in perfect condition and has never been mounted or framed. It measures 36"e; x 20 1/4"e; with a total image size of 33"e; x 16"e;.

Shooters Odds Buckland F-86 Aviation Art Parr

With talk of an armistice only weeks away, F-86 pilot Ralph Parr was afraid the Korean War would be over before he would get into air combat. flying a routine patrol over the Yalu, Parr spotted a glint of light low against the ground and suspected enemy aircraft. Rolling into a Split-S, Parr dove his F-86F down from 41,000 feet and closed rapidly on the suspicious image. Soon he saw four Mig-15's right in front of him, but a quick look left and right revealed that there was really a total of 16 enemy aircraft. Not one to miss an opportunity, Parr engaged the closest aircraft and was immediately in a boiling dogfight right on the deck. After destroying two Migs and damaging another the remaining aircraft fled for the North. Ralph Parr finished the Korean War a double ace, shooting down ten enemy aircraft in just 30 missions over five weeks. This L/E of 850 is signed by the artist and personally autographed by the pilot, Col. Ralph S. Parr. The print has never been mounted and is in perfect condition. PT Boats fought in all theaters of Naval Combat Operations during WWII - but perhaps nowhere were they more suited to the environment than in the island-studded tropical SW Pacific.On December 27, 1943, PT-190 and PT-191 were attacked by fighter and dive-bomber elements as they made their way back to their base a Dreger Harbor, on New Guinea. The Imperial Japanese navy, totaling approximately 28 aircraft, surprised the PT's as they were crossing the open stretch of water between New Britain and New Guinea known as the Vitiaz Strait. In the pre-dawn of September 1st 1939, units of Hitler's Luftwaffe and Wehrmacht were poised to smash across Poland's borders to begin WWII. At sunrise, formations of German bombers were over Krakow and attacked the Polish airbase of Rakowice. Meanwhile, several miles to the west on a secret airfield at Balice, 121 Fighter Eskadra (Squadron) of Army Krakow's 2 Dyon (Air Regiment) was alerted to the attack by the noise of explosions and flaming horizon. Leaping from his bed and pulling on his flight clothes, 28 year-old veteran flyer, 2nd Lt. Wladek Gnys ran with his CO, Capt. Mieczyslaw Medwecki, to their gull-winged PZLP.11c fighters. As they took off to make an interception of the German attackers, the pair was surprised by fire from passing Ju-87 Stukas of I./StG2, and Medwecki was downed. In attempting to evade, Gnys went into a stall, but regained control just above the ground. Climbing once again, he managed to put two bursts into the engine of another Stuka, which turned away trailing a plume of smoke. Later, at 5000 feet, Gnys spotted two Do-17E bombers of III./KG77 just above the rising early-morning fog. Putting his small fighter into a near-vertical dive, Gnys banked steeply toward the Dornier on the right and fired his four 7.7mm machine guns, silencing the rear gunner and hitting the port engine. He then climbed and banked to the left, away from his smoking victim, to pursue the second German. Attacking from the second bomber's port side, Gnys dove and fired, getting hits on the cockpit. Realizing that the two mortally wounded Dorniers were on a collision course, he continued his dive below and away from them. Returning to base, the victorious pilot did not see the two crashed bombers smoldering in a farmyard ne

Aviation Art Reno 64 Nixon Galloway Air Racing Mem

The first Air Races, were conceived and promoted by Nevada rancher/pilot Bill Stead who also raced hydroplanes and automobiles. They came off as a dusty a minimum beginning for the new "Unlimited Class", but it was a start, and a good one, after the 15 year hiatus since the tragic accident at Cleveland in 1949. They used the hydroplane scoring system, so the winner was the pilot who ran up the best score in each of the heats, not necessarily the one who won the final race. Miro Slovak flew low and fast, winning a couple of the heats along with Clay Lacy, but Darryl Greenameyer, who flew even faster was disqualified for not landing on the dirt strip at Stead field as the rules required. Bob Love flew beautifully, but cut some pylons and was also disqualified. This painting by Nixon Galloway depicts Mira flying Bill Stead's Bearcat in the final race as they approached the finish, with Clay Lacy just 1.8 seconds behind, followed by Ben Hall, Walter Ohlrich, and Ed Weiner. In probably the most critical test of the as yet untried Space Shuttle, the orbiter "e;Enterprise"e; is released from its highly modified 747 carrier aircraft for its approach and landing test in actual flight configuration. Without the streamlined tailcone used on previous test flights there would be increased buffeting on the 747 shuttle carrier and the descent profile fo the orbiter would be much steeper. At 20,300 feet shuuttle pilot Joe Engle released the orbiter from the carrier and NASA 747 pilot Fitz Fulton banked the Jumbo steeply away from the orbiter. Previous tests with the tailcone installed had required 5 1/2 minuts for the orbitor to reach their Edwards runway but today that descent took only 2 minutes and 34 seconds. On March 9, 1916 Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa and 500 of his Villistas attacked the border town of Columbus, New Mexico. the United States responded by immediately dispatching U.S. Army forces under the command of General John J. "e;Blackjack"e; Pershing to avenge the border penetration and capture the bandit Villa. Pershing deployed eight Curtiss JN-2s of the First Aero Squadron for use as scouts in the mountainous Mexican territory to which Villa and his men had fled. This is a L/E print of 750 and is personally signed by the artist. It has never been mounted and is in perfect condition. It comes with a COA that is suitable for framing and the image size is 26"e; x 16 1/2"e;.

WWII CBI Souvenir Indian Embroidered Blue Silk Banner

This embroidered silk souvenir banner was made in India as a take-home for U.S. military personnel during WW II. This piece is decorated with a representation of the Taj Mahal, plus the names of regions. The cloth is blue silk, with unfinished edges, with gold wire threading, and decorative border and edge. There are a few minor thread snags and wear spots on this item but overall it is in excellent condition. The size is 24" x 26". This is a very attractive banner.

Showcased here is a lot of 2 nearly identical USAF F-14 Patches from the Desert Storm era. The patches read: "Desert Storm, Thief of Baghdad," and feature a Tomcat illustration. Each patch is circular. One measures 4" in diameter and the other measures 3.75" in diameter. The two patches differ very slightly in color. The patches are partially embroidered and in very good condition.

1963 USN Navy FLIGHT SUIT K-2B Orange Sz. Small / Long

This early 60s era (tag is dated 1963) Air Force flight suit type K-2B is in the rare orange color. The item is a nominal small / long and the approximate measurements are: inseam 32", sleeve 22", waist 17.5" across. The flight suit is in excellent condition with no notable damage.
