Antique Mahjong Set, Bakelite: Tiles, Box 1920s Era

This Mahjong set appears to date from the 1920's, or around that era. The case is wood, with lizard skin pattern covering, USA marked closures, and leather covered handle. The corners show some wear. The tiles and racks are all Bakelite. A few of the tiles look a little different, like they might be replacements. Overall the designs are very nice. From the way they fit evenly in the box, we'd assume that all the tiles are here. They each measure approximately 7/8" x 1 1/4". The case is 20" x 7" x 4 1/2".
This is a very nice Mahjong set.

There are two pairs of trolls, 2 golfers with caps and one golf bag, and a couple in nightgowns. All these come from a non-smoking home.

They range in size from 7 to 12" tall. Included are an English Bobbie, a Flamenco dancer, an American made Indian doll, Japanese, Greek, and Israeli dolls. Two are from Corine's Brides of All Nations, featuring Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia. There is even a double doll. Please see the pictures.

Here are two nice snowdomes, based on some wonderful stories. One is a Bible story of Noah's Ark, and it features glitter and what appears to be feathers that float around. It is a musical wind-up, and it plays "Talk to the Animals." It is 4" x 5". The other dome shows the old cobbler in his workshop crafting the boy Pinocchio, with snow all around. It plays "Wish Upon a Star." It is 4 1/2 x 6". Both globes are in very good and working condition.

Lalique Deux Colombes Lovebirds Ring Dish Vintage Glass

This is the Deux Colombes ring dish from Lalique. It features two lovebirds in frosted glass, on a clear glass dish. Its diameter is 4", and its height is 2". Its condition is excellent. The underside has an etched signature, which dates it from pre-1980.
This design was also offered as a sculpture, without the dish. This is a lovely little Lalique piece.

Here are two wonderful snowdomes for the holidays. One is a snow gnome dome, featuring rabbits and bird. They are all caroling (it's not often you see a garden gnome doing this!) It is a musical wind-up, and they play "Silent Night." It is 4 1/2" x 6". The other dome has two snowmen ice skating, with nicely detailed base. It is 4 x 5 1/2". Both globes are in excellent condition.

Offered here is a very nice vintage Belleek, Ireland porcelain vase. The cream-bodied vase is trimmed in gold and has faint pink bands around the neck. 6" tall, 4" in diameter. Here we offer a decorative dresser box made of porcelain and HAND PAINTED IN FRANCE. It has a romantic style transfer ware medallion in the center of the top and is accented with hand painted 22K gold decorations on the top and sides. The mountings are bronze. The bronze mounts are a bit tarnished from age and the bronze trim work / edging has slightly separated from the porcelain from age related use. This authentic International Boxing Federation belt was signed in gold paint pen by featherweight Champion Marco Antonio Barrera. An original Letter of Authenticity from Global Authentication, Inc. is included.
The International Boxing Federation belt is made of red leather with white trim. In the center is an 8½" x 10" gold plated IBF WORLD CHAMPION medallion, surrounded by genuine Swarovski crystals. The center medallion is flanked by two 3¾" x 4¼" medallions, also with gold and Swarovski crystals, topped with an eagle. Outside of these are 2 six-pointed stars, with red stones at the center. The back of the belt is covered with soft black fleece. It is in Mint condition.
Barrera is considered one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, and this autographed belt will surely be worth its weight to boxing collectors.

Junghans Vintage German Desk/Shelf Clock Wind-Up

This is a Junghans clock, made in Germany, we believe, in the 1940's. It was running partly when tested, but will probably need a cleaning and servicing. Overall it is in good condition. Its size measures 4" x 5¼" at the base, and 6" tall minus the folding handle. The face has an antique tone now, with slight crazing. It has bold black numerals, steel blue hands, and is framed by gold tone tin in a pressed pattern. The case is possibly silver plated, with light surface wear, and no dings. The design features a beveled glass front, and glass openings on the sides that reveal the movement. The back door is corrugated gold tone metal, with surface discoloration on the outside. The underside has wood. The original key is included.
The simple yet elegant design of this Junghans clock makes it worth restoring for your home.

Apple Carving Folk Art Sculpture Head Figure S. Shapiro

This unusual original sculpture was carved from an apple. The figure's head, including an apple top with stem for a hat, is all apple, dried and glazed, preserving the nicely carved details. The glaze is quite dark, and matches nicely to the knotty looking piece of wood that serves as a stand. It stands 6 1/2" tall. It is in excellent condition, and is well preserved.
Artist Shep Shapiro of Highland Park Illinois created this fruitful masterwork a number of years ago. He could be considered a folk artist, working specifically in apples. The local paper did a feature on him in 1978.
This is a fascinating sculpture that is different from anything you are likely to find.

H & B Vintage Louisville Hickory Official Softball Bat

Here is a vintage Louisville Slugger model 54H softball bat from Hillerich & Bradsby. The bat is marked in silver lettering "Official / Softball / Hickory," and also in script next to the H & B logo "It's a Louisville." It is in good condition, with some wear and nicks, black paint splotches, and one knob chip, but no cracks. The grip area has a gray surface that is apparently from old grip tape. The bat length is 33".
This is a nice early hickory softball bat.

This Waterford table lamp features elegant crystal in a stylish contemporary design. The lamp dates from the 1950's or 60's. It is round, with graceful sloping designs. This sign from Keystone Light beer glows in blue and white neon, with printed image of the Rocky Mountains catching the glow behind it. This sign is in excellent and working condition. The size, including the metal frame, is 28" x 18 1/2" x 6". It was made by Neon Tech, item #8164, and features a dimmer switch.
Keystone is a great Coors brands, and this neon will give you a taste of the Rockies.

Pearl Lager Beer Bullfighting Manolete Bar Sign Print

This large advertising sign from Pearl Lager features a print of the work "Last Fight of Manolete," by Barnaby Conrad. Not only does the print have a nice big image at the center, it has scene by scene events of the legendary bullfighter's last battle. The frame is a rustic unfinished wood, with deep grain, rivets, and triple X embossed at the top. The frame size is 32 1/2" x 43". It is in good condition, with some frame wear, and wrinkles and wear on the print. Fortunately for this sign, it enhances the aged appearance.
This sign looks like it could have been hanging in an old Mexican bar. It will add a lot of character to your bar or home.

L&M Cigarettes Vintage Metal Sign Advertising Tobacco

More common overseas than here in the US, L&M brand cigarettes have been sold since the 1880's. This particular sign was made in the US, however. It has some light scratches and edge rust/wear, but is solid, unbroken, and retains it original embossing. It is 23 " wide and 17 " tall.

Alaskan Amber Beer Mirror Rope Sign Nautical Boat Scene

This mirror sign from Alaskan Amber Beer is on a round wooden frame with genuine rope border. It is called the Nautical Amber Mirror, and the image shows their boat in front of a majestic glacier. The design is a little like a boat's window, with a nice view. The diameter is 22 1/2". It is in new condition, and comes with picture wire on back, so it's ready to hang.
This is one great American brewery you won't find many signs from, so be sure to get this while you can! (Makes a great gift, especially if you just went on an Alaskan cruise!)

Cragstan Acrobat Stunt Plane Wind-Up Tin Vintage Japan

This is the Acrobat Plane, made in Japan by Cragstan sometime in the 1960's. The mechanics of this toy are working but very slowly and only with a push, so it probably needs to be fully lubricated. The tin body of the plane is in very good condition, with litho graphics in red, yellow, light and dark blue, on white and silver. The tires are hard rubber, with light wear. The Cragstan and Made In Japan marks are on the underside. The propeller and red acrobat balls are plastic. The bars are designed to turn while the plane rolls forward on its wheels, and then flip it over like a somersault.
This is a great vintage Japanese stunt wind-up for restoration or just display.

Schlitz Vintage Lighted Beer Bar Decor Advertising Sign

This vintage Schlitz sign proudly displays their slogan "The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous." The sign is designed to light up, but it is not working. The rubber coating on the power cord is a little worn. The rest of the sign looks fine, with Schlitz name in white on golden beer colored plastic (just imagine this glowing). It is framed in gold tone, plastic in front with metal back. The base is clear Lucite, with two rubber pads on the front edge, and two nuts on back. This was apparently made to affix to the top of a bar or tapper. The base is also marked with the Schlitz Brewing Company name. The sign measures 8" x 9".
This is a great little vintage Schlitz sign, evocative of the sparkling color of that famous beer.

Our research leads us to believe that this item dates back to at least 1914. Later signs advertised both a nickel-plated and gold-plated model, for 15 and 25 respectively. This display, which has slots to hold the merchandise, is unfortunately sold out. It comes in a 12" x 10" wood frame that has been pained black.The piece shows obvious signs of use and some light spotting, but is in excellent condition considering its age.

Henry Herbert Carr, often called "The Farmer's Friend," popularized direct consignment from farmers in 1884. He was also a popular "old-school" Republican during this time, and is given credit for helping create Chicago's organization of wards and precincts. We present here a sign advertising H. H. Carr & Co.'s grain redistribution services. Printed on lightweight cardboard, it rests inside a wood frame.

A special commemorative silver dollar was struck to honor the 50th anniversary of the United Service Organizations. The Group was founded in 1941 to supply social, recreational, welfare, and spiritual facilities to armed services personnel. Surcharges on sales of the coins were divided equally between the USO and the Department of the Treasury. The coins were launched on Flag Day, June 14th, using designs selected in a limited competition between Mint staff and five outside invited artists. The obverse uses a banner inscribed USO designed by Rhode Island artist Robert Lamb. on the reverse is a globe with an eagle on top, and is the work of Mint Sculptor-Engraver John Mercanti.

Obverse: Depicts Meriwether Lewis and William Clark on a stream bank planning another day of travel and exploration. Lewis is seen holding his journal.
Reverse: Features two feathers from the National Council of the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial logo - representing the many Native American Indian cultures touched by the Corps of Discovery Expedition. It also features a peace medal presented to the Native American Nations during the expedition on behalf of President Jefferson. 17 stars represent the number of States in the Union in 1804.
