All are honey stained, (2) have lids and are holiday themes (2003 Painted Pumpkin Lid with protector inside to hold dry or liquid items, and heart-shaped basket with brown leather accents). (1) basket has a hinged lid. The last 3 are open, one having a plastic protector inside, one is oval shaped and the last is a fruit and vegetable basket (higher in the back). Sizes range from 9.5 x 8.5 x 14 inches (largest) to 10.25 x 6.25 x 6.75 inches (smallest). Baskets have rarely been used and are in very good to excellent condition. All have the Peterboro Basket Co. brass plate and 3 of the baskets also have Peterboro informational tags still attached. EST. $75 - 100

Frederick Remington Mountain Man Bronze Sculpture

Bronze Figural sculpture. Mountain Man # 243/500, 28 x 20 inches. Signature: (on base, near horse's left front leg): Copyright / Frederic Remington. Marks: (foundry marks unidentified). Remington modeled and copyrighted "The Mountain Man" in 1903. For his subject he chose a dramatic episode in the life of a French Canadian trapper: his and his mount's descent on an almost vertical slope. Man and horse work together to make the trip down a treacherously rocky decline. The horse has been given full rein to choose its pace and path; the rider leans sharply back and balances himself by holding onto the tail strap with his right hand. Perhaps the most famous work is that which is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art which was was cast in 1907 in the lost-wax technique and was purchased, along with three other statuettes, directly from the artist. Relatively few casts of "The Mountain Man" were produced during Remington's lifetime; the number is thought to be about fifteen. The present example is thought to have been done in the late 1960's. Charles Russell Bronze33X15" on Marble base. After the original plaster in the Will Rogers museum. Changing outfits was never offered in Russell's lifetime. He made the plaster and set it aside. For his subject Russell chose two crudely formed characters mounted and in stride with their face and hat's pressed hard a blinding windstorm pulling in tow a third supply horse. The lean weariness of both man and beast comes alive in this test of will against elements and enemy pressing across rocky terrain. Uncirculated pair of 1886 T-I and T-II coins. The T-I in this group is more red than the T-II. Both coins have L in ribbon with the rarer T-II displaying the narrowing portrait and the feather points directly to the "C" in America. The fields of the T-1 appear a bit full of hairlines suggesting a possible cleaning, but the details remain near razor sharp.
