This copy is in good condition and appears to be a first edition with some fade/wear on binding and at corners, minor small stains on cover, some separation of binding from book when opened, 239 pages approximately (last page not numbered) appear to all be intact & in very good condition. Pictures by Frank Verbeck. Several pages into the book has "Copyright 1900 by Robert Howard Russell Copyright 1903 by L. Frank Baum July (All rights reserved) Printed and bound by M.A. Donohue & Company Chicago" printed. Also in this lot is a copy of The Magical House of Zur by Mary Dickerson Donahey c. 1914, sadly pages 45 to 50 are missing, otherwise in good condition. 9 books in the Little Colonel series and 2 Mary Ware books all authored by Mary Fellows Johnston included; these were originally done 1900 to 1912, these are "impressions" printed between 1920 and 1923, all intact and in very good condition inside and out with the exception of one small hole in binding of one. 11 Billy Whiskers books, 6 in very good condition and 5 in fair condition, printed between 1904 and 1913, describes adventures of a goat. This is believed to be a first edition of this book. 206 pages long all in very good condition. It features a red cloth cover, the binding and cover in very good condition with minor fraying on lower right hand corner of binding, minor wear spots at 3 corners, and a small dark possible stain on front mid_way between Santa and the crescent moon, a small faded spot to lower end of the back cover. Measures 7.25 x 9 inches at cover, book is 1.13 inches thick. Binding slightly separated from the book at front when open. A child penciled on page just inside the back cover. Otherwise very good. The interior features 4 vertical compartments, 2 horizontal compartments and 2 small drawers. This section can move from one side to the other for flexibility in use. Hinged arms to open/close were replaced at some time with chains. There is a dark stain on the desktop interior, but does not detract from usefulness and not seen when front is closed.
