LOT 1052 Federal Laboratories riot or gas gun utilizing Webley #1 marked frame, nickel plated with extension shoulder stock in nickel and wood, in very good condition, #22621. The nickel-plated surfaces show 80%-90% of their original finishes, some nickel erosion, some minor pitting where the finish is lost. The wood stock is very good+ just showing some dings, mars and scratches from storage and use. Produced in the 1950s, these were used by the bigger prisons in the United States. This particular example shows the full complement of British broadhead proofs. Est.: $600-$1,200.

Henry, 231”; with pictures of tepees on front, reverse shows Elks’ slogan “To Our Absent Brothers”, the clock showing 5 until 12, glasses of beer, and the Grand Lodge, Salt Lake City, August 12, 13 & 14, 1902. LOT 1056 Springfield Allin Conversion of Civil War musket to 50-70 cal., 32” barrel, standard military configuration in good condition, showing a light gray to brown patina finish, good markings on lock with sharp eagle, also sharp markings on breech-block with Model 1870 U.S. Springfield eagle head, scattered erosion and pinprick pitting but generally good metal surfaces. The stock shows some dings, mars, dents, gouges and losses consistent with storage and frontier use. The rear of the left buttstock shows Roman numeral II, probably an issue number. The rifle retains an original cleaning rod. The left side of the buttstock at the wrist shows two cartouches, one of which was Allin’s. The buttplate is stamped with Roman numeral I, the action is good and the bore very good. These early conversions were the first cartridge arms used on the frontier in the Indian War period and were also popular with buffalo hunters. Est.: $1,000-$1,500.

Also included are two original double-sided Railway Express Agency iron framed cardboard advertising signs in red, white and black, approx. 14” square each; an original Wells Fargo & Co. Express double-sided advertising sign in red, white and blue, approx. 14” square; a pair of near new American Munitions Co. nickel plated handcuffs, with key, stamped “W. F. & Co.” (in red Foth Lock Co. box); an 1888 Wells Fargo & Co. Express 42 page Instruction Book; a silver Wells Fargo Watch Fob and leather case dated March 18, 1902; and numerous 19th and early 20th century original cabinet photos, waybill, documents, receipts, etc. including an interesting grouping of paper from the Butterfield Mercantile Co. of Jamestown, California (right in the Gold Country); also some Railway Express Agency materials. LOT 1058 Late Model 38 Smoot rimfire revolver, #10440; nickel plated, hard rubber grips, butt inscribed “W.F. & Co.”, approx. 75%-85% original nickel drifting on the cylinder; area where the nickel has drifted show some erosion and just beginning pitting. The barrel address is good; the grips are very good, the interior very good. An original Railway Express Agency tag with description of pistol and serial # is included and it was lot #39 in the auction held by Railway Express approx. 40 years ago where they sold a great deal of the revolvers they had purchased from Wells Fargo. LOT 1059 Pair of child’s boots circa 19th century measuring 9” in height and approx. 7” from toe to heal; good condition for their age, some fraying; pull tabs on one boot detached and one missing; one inside the boot, otherwise good overall with typical fraying and fading and showing original nailed-on soles. Leather boots from the 19th century are actually very scarce because shoes were used and passed down thru generations. Est.: $250-$500.

The casting is high quality, very European, probably French, and shows a great likeness of a well-groomed dog. The blackened hardwood stick is in good condition but missing its tip. LOT 1069 Lady’s walking stick, measuring approximately 35-1/4” from tip to tip. The grip area shows a nicely carved handle approximately 4-1/4” long, which is carved in rope and bridle scenes, probably meant for a lady to carry to the races. The tip of the case is nicely turned from horn. The condition of the cane is very good and shows a silver ferrule between the hardwood shaft and grip. Est.: $250-$500.

LOT 1071 Lot of memorabilia from Anti-Horse Thief Association. The lot consists of two pairs of rosettes showing Anti-Horse Thief logo and a large ribbon from State Registration Clerk, Oklahoma Anti-Horse Thief Assn. showing its original ribbon, Oklahoma City, OK Oct. 25 & 26, 1916, all in good condition. The Anti-Horse Thief Assn. was a federation of police officers and ranchers who discouraged the theft of horses, sometimes in violent ways, however, their work was very effective and the stealing of horses in the West became pretty much a thing of the past by the 1920’s (not only due to the advent of the automobile). LOT 1072 Lot of four stockman’s badges, the first from the Oklahoma City Annual Convention Livestock Assn., Feb. 1903 on tin button badge showing steer; the second from the Colorado Livestock Assn., Friend of the West on the ribbon showing Theodore Roosevelt, good condition probably about 1910; next is a Stockman’s badge for vice-president , Fort Worth Assn. , 1908 silver plated, ribbon marked “N.F. & B.S., 1908”. The last shows a case bronze State of Texas with a portrait of Sam Houston overlaid, the lone star flag as the ribbon and the legend “Lone Star State” with long horn steer holding the Alamo. A great lot of Stockman’s badges from the early turn-of-the-century, all in good condition, formerly from the Charlie Schreiner collection. Est.: $400-$800.

LOT 1073 Steyr Mannlicher Model 1956 bolt-action sporting rifle, .243 cal. in fine to excellent original condition, #27986. The rifle shows typical Mannlicher features such as double triggers, folding rear sight, full stock in light European wood with high cheekpiece, 98%-99% original bright blue remains. The original light-colored stock is fine to excellent. The action shows its original bright polish and the bore is fine to excellent. The rifle shows just some slight use and handling. These Mannlicher are scarce and desirable in .243 cal. and the light wood probably dates it to the mid 1950s. Est.: $700-$1,400.

LOT 1074 Colt Model 1883 hammerless SXS shotgun, 12 gauge, 27” Damascus barrels, checkered wood stocks, #2807. This gun is in overall good condition showing the majority of its Damascus pattern on barrel, frame has gone to a silvery grey color, good markings, bores and action. The wood stocks are good to very good with better-than-average wood, nice checkering including an interesting checkered panel on the top and bottom of the butt stock and a Colt hard rubber butt plate. Est.: $1,500-$2,500.

LOT 1075 Remington 12 gauge exposed hammer Damascus steel barrel shotgun, brown patina finish, standard wood stocks, barrel reduced to 26”, butt stock stamped in large block letters “AM. RY. EXPR. #58”. The gun is #34187 on interior of action. The metal surfaces remain in fair to good condition showing a medium to dark brown patina finish, scattered light to moderate erosion surface pitting and some slightly heavier areas of pitting at the rear top of frame and trigger guard. The stocks are well-worn and show many small dings, mars and scratches but are sound and generally good overall and the original butt plate is retained. There are three notches cut toward the rear of the butt; the marking in the wood is of the correct style but cannot be guaranteed absolutely. Est.: $800-$1,600.
