Bill Burwell was from Jarboe, KS and played 3 years in the big leagues and then went on to become a manager for the Louisville Colonels of the American Association in 1939. In that year the Colonels won the league championship. This is a clipped autograph from 1939. There are 4 autographs from this estate and I would gather that a relative or ancestor worked at the Muehelbach in 1939 as 3 of these are dated 1939.

This has to be one of the earliest PeeWee Reese autographs available. It is dated 7/20/39. PeeWee was in the Boston minor league system that year and was sold to Brooklyn in 1940. This is a large lot of photos, some with original autographs, of Hollywood stars from the 1930s-40s. The consignor's mother was a dancer back in the day and she collected these then. Amongst the real autographs are a Guy Lombardo, Helen Swan, Harlan Christy, Vilma Banky and several more. Amongst the photos only are Roy Rogers, Norma Talmudge, Rudy Vanentino and others. Scrapbook, flag & more from Neb. German POW camp

This is an amazing grouping of items from the Indianola, Nebraska WWII German POW camp. The large flag was flown there and the scrapbook was put together by Mrs Lt. Col. Frederick Whitten. She collected every newspaper article that she could find that related to either the camp or her husband during the short time that they were there. They also entertained quite a bit and there are lists of guests that attended everything from dinners to drinks and I think there was even a wedding! There are other related items such as foreign currency and a paperweight the Whitten carried or had with him. Rare opportunity to buy such an important piece of WWII, Nebraska and American history.

Union Jack Hawaiian Flag. Spanish American War

According to the note attached to the flag (written in 1962) this flag was handed down from a collector to his daughter and son in law in 1962. He brought it back from the Phillipines where he served in the Spanish-American War. We were just told that this is an early Hawaiian State Flag. The flag measures 13 5/8' X 19'. This came from the same estate as the Indianola WWII POW Camp scrap book. As found.

Nice group of Harry Truman Inauguration items. Included in this lot are 2 invitations, 2 Inauguration Ceremonies Programs, an invitation to Jefferson-Jackson Victory Dinner Committee reception in the Presidential Room at the Statler Hotel, the seating arrangement booklet for said dinner and a copy of Harry S. Truman ''The Missourian'' by Henry Bundschu. Mr. Bundshu inscribed and signed the book to Fred Canfil.

I would guess that the title of this piece would be something like ''What's on His Mind'' or maybe ''Can't See Straight''. It is signed Andres Desjardines 72. Or so we think.
