This is a very early /2. It is missing a frame brace that is usually the distinguishing characteristic between R50 and an R50/2. However the serial number was verified with BMW in Germany and it is truly a /2. Many times the factory would use leftover parts to build the early bikes.
It was restored approximately 30 years ago and painted with aircraft Imron paint which is still beautiful. Recently it underwent a complete engine rebuild. The slingers were cleaned, crankshaft brought into spec and new bearings and rings. The mechanical voltage regulator has been replaced with an electronic version along with a new wiring harness. Other work includes replacement brake linings, which actually work, and new header pipes.
As you can see from the pictures it is loaded with period correct accessories. I believe all to be original including the touring tank, crash bars and enduro saddle bags. The single seats are modern reproductions but the original bench seat is included as well.
