According to the Colt Archives Serial Number Database, this "Second Generation" Model 1851 Cap & Ball Black powder Percussion Revolver was produced in 1974 (second stage of production). SPECS: Casehardened frame with silver straps & trigger guard, 7.5" octagon barrel with brass bead front sight & "Royal Blue" finish, 6-shot cylinder with roll-marked Battle of Campeche Naval scene & "Royal Blue" finish, smooth walnut grips with glossed finish, casehardened loading lever, casehardened hammer with checkering and blued trigger. This revolver comes in a period correct wood grain cardboard box with manual (no label). CONDITION: This revolver is in beautiful same-as-new condition with no wear, has a perfect sharp/ clean bore (possibly unfired) and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: In 1971, due to the success of the Colt SAA "2nd Generation" revolvers, which were introduced in 1956, Colt decided to start producing their Percussion Revolvers again, as well. The production of the Colt "2nd Generation" Black Powder Cap & Ball revolvers took place in three stages. Stage one was during the period when Val Forgett (supplier of components) and Navy Arms built the revolvers in Colt facilities from 1971 -1973. Stage two was when Lou Imperato (supplier of components) built the revolvers in Colt facilities from 1974 -1976, from the same source as Val Forgett. And stage three was from 1978 -1982, when Lou Imperato supplied these parts, but with the barrels, cylinders, and backstraps cast in Italy, and the frames, center pins, nipples, all of the screws, and springs made in the United States at Iver Johnson. All of the 2nd Generation percussion models made from 1971 to 1982 either by Colt, or its subcontractors, are regarded as authentic Colt revolvers and not Italian replicas. The guns produced in this time frame were packaged in wood grain, cardboard boxes. SHIPPING - We offer free shipping anywhere within the continental US. All firearms must be sent to an FFL (or C&R if applicable) regardless of age or caliber. This includes antiques & muzzleloaders. PLEASE READ ALL TERMS BEFORE PARTICIPATING: There is no live crowd, no phone bidding, no left bids and we do not accept payment through the mail.
