HISTORY: The Remington Model 1858 New Army revolver, often called the "1858 Remington", is a significant black powder revolver with a rich history, particularly during the American Civil War. It was originally patented by Fordyce Beals, a Remington employee, and was produced in two calibers: .36 and .44. Production began in the early 1860s and continued until 1875. During the Civil War, the Remington revolver was used primarily by Union soldiers as a supplemental issue firearm, often favored over the standard Colt 1860 Army due to its greater durability. The 1858 Remington continued to be popular in the American West and beyond, even after the Civil War, seeing use in both its original percussion configuration and as a metallic cartridge conversion. SHIPPING - We offer free shipping anywhere within the continental US. All firearms must be sent to an FFL (or C&R if applicable) regardless of age or caliber. This includes antiques & muzzleloaders.
