Abigail Folger (Manson Murders) Personally Owned The Pelican Shakespeare: Hamlet Book From Cambridge, Fall 1963 W/Handwritten Annotations and Notes - Heiress Abigail Folger of the Folger Coffee fortune, known for her tragic association with the infamous Manson Murders, owned this personal copy of "The Pelican Shakespeare: Hamlet" during her time at Rutledge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the fall of 1963. This book, a significant piece of her academic life, reflects her intellectual pursuits and passion for literature. This particular volume stands as a poignant reminder of her life and interests before her untimely death, offering a glimpse into the more personal and studious side of Abigail Folger. This book has Abigail Folger's name handwritten inside along with the inscription Cambridge, Fall 1963. The book is also annotated with countless handwritten notes and underlined passages. It is widely known that Folger was always reading and was known to write her name, location and years in which she acquired various publications. Please view reference photograph of another book in which she wrote her name, the location and the date in the same style as she wrote in this book. On the night of August 8-9, 1969, Abigail Folger, along with her partner Wojciech Frykowski, actress Sharon Tate, and celebrity hair stylist Jay Sebring, was brutally murdered by members of the Manson Family, a cult led by Charles Manson. The murders took place just two days before what would have been Abigail Folger's 26th birthday on August 11th. Abigail Folger's murder, along with the other victims, is remembered as part of one of the most notorious and horrifying crime sprees in American history. Abigail Folger's legacy is also remembered through her philanthropic work and the tragic end to a promising life. This book was acquired by our seller at a thrift store in the 1980s, and has never been offered for sale. The seller had planned to return it to Folger's parents however they had already passed. The book comes with copies of email correspondence from the Folger Shakespeare Library. Shipping Note: This item is located in Florida. Shipping will be at the expense of the buyer.
