Rare Transitional Cased London Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver

Lot # 5 (Sale Order: 5 of 1099)

serial #143636, .31 caliber, 5" barrel a bright excellent bore with a couple light patches of surface oxidation. This is an interesting little Pocket. The barrel bears a late London two-line address, the gun is in the U.S. serial range and shows no London proofs. In studying Jordan & Watts, it appears that this revolver was assembled in the U.S. using some London parts and some U.S. parts after the London plant closed. The condition of the revolver is very fine with the barrel retaining between 90 and 95% bright original blue finish. The cylinder has flaked and is mostly a smooth brown patina with a couple very small patches of fine pitting, the cylinder stagecoach holdup scene remains 95% visible. The frame and rammer retain 90% original color case-hardened finish which remains quite vivid. The gripstraps retain 95% original silverplated finish with some light bubbling on the triggerguard. The one piece walnut grip rates excellent plus with 97% original finish remaining. The locking bolt screw, trigger screw and wedge screw all show slot damage and are in need of replacement. The revolver comes in a nice period rosewood veneered case with faded red baize lining. The case rates excellent, is clearly period and includes a Colt's Patent two-cavity mold, three compartment flask, combination tool and two metal cap tins filled with cast projectiles. A very handsome and high condition transitional London pocket revolver. (17328-11) {ANTIQUE}

!!! NOTICE: This lot has a discrepancy. Please CLICK HERE for the discrepancy list.
serial #228382, 16 ga. on No. 1 frame, 26" barrels with bright excellent bores choked modified and improved modified. This little double remains in nice condition with the barrels retaining about 95% original blue with most loss being on sides of barrels where there is a little thinning and blending with a brown patina. The action retains about 30% original color which is quite vivid on sides beneath fences with the balance being mostly a smooth gray patina. Parker VH Boxlock Double Shotgun

Lot # 7 (Sale Order: 7 of 1099)

serial #237273, 20 ga. on No. 0 frame, 28" barrels with bright excellent bores choked improved modified and full. This is a shotgun built during the transitional period, after Remington took over production but before the production moved to Ilion. The barrels show the typical Meriden rib inscription while the "Parker" name has been moved to the belly of the action. The barrels retain about 60% original blue finish with areas of smooth gray and no visible pitting, the loss is from honest use not from poor storage. The action retains 50% plus original color case-hardened finish with most loss being on the belly which is smooth gray. The checkered pistolgrip buttstock and forend rate very good with about 85% original finish remaining and with strong checkering. There are some old scratches in the wood on the left side ahead of wrist, possibly from being placed on and removed from some type of rack. The shotgun has a 14 1/8" length of pull over original checkered hard rubber dogs head buttplate with drops of 1 5/8" and 2 3/8". The gun weighs about 6 lbs. 5 oz. and locks up tight. U.S. Model 1911A1 Pistol By Ithaca Gun

Lot # 12 (Sale Order: 12 of 1099)

serial #1272818, 45 ACP, 5" High Standard barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain near 99% dark gray green parkerized finish with crisp firing proof and Frank Atwood"s inspector marking, the right-side ordnance wheel being slightly offset but still prominent. The only true wear is some very light high edge loss, notably the bottom of the lanyard loop and front and rear edges of the slide. The Keyes Fiber Company grips rate excellent and are the last variation with reinforcing rings around the stock screws and the internal strengthening ribs. A single blued Scoville Manufacturing seven-round magazine is included. The pistol has parkerizing within the serial number digits and the inspector and ordnance wheel markings, denoting it is a later arsenal refinish, however the gun really appears as though it came out of Ithaca yesterday and otherwise appears original and untouched. Really a super Ithaca 1911A1 overall. (37330-66) {C&R}

Rare Colt Government Model Semi-Auto Pistol

Lot # 13 (Sale Order: 13 of 1099)

serial #FR20830E, 9x23mm Winchester, 5" barrel with an excellent bore. This is a very crisp MK IV Series 80 that has seen little, if any use, in a scarce caliber. The metal surfaces retain about 99% original deep blue finish with a few faint handling marks. The one piece wrap around checkered rubber factory grips with silver Colt medallions rate excellent. The pistol feature drift adjustable three dot sights, long trigger and beavertail grip safety. The pistol includes a pair of factory magazines that are marked "Colt / 9x23 Win". This pistol / cartridge combination was only manufactured during 1997. The chambering was Winchester"s effort to safely achieve "major caliber" in I.P.S.C. competition and it proved to have favorable self defense ballistics. A lot of shooters have rebarelled their guns to Super 38 Auto for more readily available ammunition. Note: in the Silent auction there is a near new Colt Super 38 Auto barrel and magazine lot. 9x23mm ammunition is still listed on the Winchester website. This pistol is in beautiful condition and a great acquisition for the collector or shooter. (87299-5)

Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine

Lot # 14 (Sale Order: 14 of 1099)

serial #443774, 32 W.S., 20" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is an untouched saddle ring carbine. The barrel and full length magazine tube retain 85-90% original blue, most loss primarily due to fading, with a small cluster of pinprick pitting on the right side of the barrel about 6" from the muzzle; the rear barrel band has almost entirely toned to gunmetal gray. The frame retains 70% original blue with significant loss at the carry point and a fair amount of dark pinprick pitting on the lower right side of the frame; the left side of the frame has some light vertical rub wear and a small curved rub mark is present from the saddle ring. The lever and hammer have light traces of original case-colors, primarily at the root of the lever, with the balance toned to a gunmetal gray-brown patina. The plain straight grip gumwood buttstock and forend rate near excellent with scattered minor handling marks and one or two unobtrusive scratches, the wood-to-metal fit is tight and appears unmolested. Carbine is sighted with a brass bead front sight, Winchester express, two folding, one standing, leaf rear sight and a Lyman No. 1 tang sight; the saddle ring is present in its stud. Truly a wonderful 1894 saddle ring carbine that is as honest as they come. (157292-69) {C&R} [Tom Varrell Collection]

The sides of the action show some light striations within the finish. The checkered pistolgrip buttstock and correct 8 3/8" forend are of very nicely figured walnut and rate near very good with about 60% original oil finish remaining and showing light wear to the checkering. The rifle also features special sights with the front being a Beach style (appears modern), a two leaf folding rear and a Lyman folding tang mounted peepsight. Winchester Model 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine

Lot # 18 (Sale Order: 18 of 1099)

serial #327362B, 44 WCF, 20" barrel with a good to perhaps near very good bore which shows evident rifling but with minor pitting its full length and a small ring about halfway down the bore. This is a very honest and slightly salty third model 1873 carbine. The metal surfaces are an overall pleasing mix of plum brown and tarnished pewter with specklings of oxidation, the odd scattered ding, dent and what is likely a drop mark atop the barrel. The carbine buttstock and forend fit perfectly and are unmolested, each rating good to very good with overall minor, and some moderate, dings and handling marks from the years, the forend showing a bit more wear. The original sights are intact as is the saddle ring, most of the screws show some slot damage. The mechanism seems to work well, "44 Cal ." can still be read on the brass cartridge lifter and the dust cover is intact. A nice example overall of a clearly frontier-used saddle ring carbine in the most desirable of calibers. Manufactured 1890 (37259-1) {ANTIQUE}

Winchester Model 71 Deluxe Lever Action Rifle

Lot # 19 (Sale Order: 19 of 1099)

serial #9317, 348 Win, 24" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel and magazine tube retain about 97 to near 98% original blue, the loss is due chiefly to some even fading and a few light handling marks from the years, the nosecap now flaked showing perhaps 70% original blue. The receiver is nice as well showing a similar 95-97% original blue, the only appreciable loss being a small fingerprint on the belly of the receiver which has left a round gray and brown area with some light pits in it, no doubt a "bloody fingerprint". The lever and hammer retain excellent original blue showing only some very light oxidation on the lever. The checkered deluxe walnut buttstock and forend rate very good plus with nearly all their original varnish and only light handling marks and dings from the years, a bit more prevalent on the left and right of the buttstock. The original hooded bead front sight is intact, the rear sight slot wearing a dovetail blank (there is no drag mark from sight elevator on the barrel) and the bolt is fitted with a Winchester No. 98A "riding bolt peep". Really a very nice example overall, likely still very usable while retaining good investment potential. (37265-4) {C&R}

Superb Colt Model 1900 U.S. Navy Contract Semi Auto Pistol

Lot # 20 (Sale Order: 20 of 1099)

serial #1104, 38 rimless smokeless, 6" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is a very high condition example of these rare and early U.S. martial semi-automatic pistols, of which only 250 were produced. The pistol bears proper "B" in triangle on left front leg of triggerguard and correct trident mark on right front leg of triggerguard and on bottom rear of the slide. The slide is numbered "1060" and fits flawlessly and matches perfectly in condition. Pistol #1060 was shipped three days before pistol #1104; both guns shipped in 50 gun batches. The pistol has clearly been in this configuration since very early on and was likely assembled like this in the armory. This pistol is listed in Sheldon's book as a known surviving example, pistol #1060 is not listed. The condition of the gun is superb with the metal surfaces retaining about 97% strong original blue with loss due only to scattered light nicks and abrasions. The backstrap retains nearly all of its original blue and shows little if any signs of use. The hammer and sight safety retain 95% bright original color case-hardened finish. The smooth walnut grips rate very good plus with 90% original finish remaining and with scattered light dings and some scuffs. The original, properly marked nickel plated magazine is present and in equally minty condition as the balance of this fine pistol. These pistols are rare, in high demand, and this is a wonderful example with unaltered sight safety. Truly investment grade for the discerning and advanced collector of the finest Colt pistols. Colt Model 1900 Civilian Model Semi Auto Pistol

Lot # 21 (Sale Order: 21 of 1099)

serial #2082, 38 rimless smokeless, 6" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This pistol was factory converted from sight safety to conventional safety. The pistol remains in very nice condition with the slide retaining about 50% factory blue finish with the balance bearing a smooth light brown patina with all markings remaining clear and legible including the Rampant Colt in circle. The frame retains about 90% original blue finish with most loss due to thinning on the bottom of the backstrap where the metal is mostly a gray brown patina. The hammer retains strong original color case-hardened finish and the checkered hard rubber grips which are correct for 1900 pistols above the 2450 serial range rate very good. Doubtless these grips were replaced by Colt at the time of the sight safety conversion. There are some light tool marks on either side of the backstrap behind the grip panels, they are largely unobtrusive. The pistol comes with a later 1902 magazine which is in full blue and marked "CAL. 38 / COLT". Overall a very solid example of the Civilian 1900 Colt pistol. (17254-2) {C&R}

Very Early Colt Model 1902 Sporting Model Pistol

Lot # 22 (Sale Order: 22 of 1099)

serial #4327, 38 rimless smokeless, 6" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This pistol is one of the first 55 model 1902 Sporting pistols built, distinguished as such merely by the fact that the slide was originally built without a sight safety, otherwise this is identical to the 1900 pistol in all regards (it wasn't until serial #5000 that the 1902 patent date was added). This pistol bears British proofs and is in very nice condition with the metal surfaces retaining about 85% original blue finish with loss due to flaking on the frame and showing light scratches and wear on the slide. The backstrap is neatly, period marked "A.G. FEENY" in small block letters. Fire blue on trigger is about 50% while round spur hammer shows faint mottled color case-hardening. The checkered hard rubber grips rate very good showing wear commensurate with the balance of the pistol. Overall a good solid example of these early 1902 pistols which were essentially transitional guns between the 1900 and 1902. (17254-3) {C&R}

serial #149237, 50 Express, 26" round barrel with a bright bore that shows a couple areas of light pitting but is mostly excellent. The barrel bears proper markings in addition to "MANUFACTURE FRANCAISE D ARMES AND CYCLES SAINT ETIENNE" followed by a crossed cannons and "MF" marking. These markings are from the period and obviously indicate that this rifle spent time in France. The barrel and magazine retain about 80% evenly thinning original blue finish overall with a few scattered light dings. The action is mostly an even and smooth brown patina with traces of original blue in protected areas. The plain walnut buttstock and forend rate very good with perhaps 60% of their oil finish remaining and with scattered light dings and handling marks. This rifle, like most big 50's, is equipped with a factory shotgun style buttplate, this one of the checkered steel variety. The gun is also equipped with sling studs mounted in the forend cap and toeline of stock, they also appear to be factory original. This is a nice honest takedown rifle that has a very shootable bore and is in the most desirable chambering the 1886 came in. (17307-2) {C&R}
