serial #22669, 348 Win, 20" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This short-tang deluxe rifle features the rare 20" barrel which is absolutely original with integral ramp front sight. The metal surfaces of the rifle retain 98% plus original blue finish with loss mostly just on high edges and a bit on the contact points of the hammer and lever. The checkered walnut pistolgrip buttstock and forend rate excellent with about 95% original finish remaining and with sharp checkering and just a few light handling marks here and there. The gun comes with a set of Super Grade swivels and is sighted with a hooded ramp front and standard open sporting rear. A nice clean example of these desirable model 71 Short rifles. serial #470827, 45-70, 32 5/8" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel and bands retain 97% original blue with some minor flaking to brown along the edges and light silvering at muzzle. The breechblock and upper tang retain nearly all of their vivid original case colors. The lock and attendant parts retain 97% original blue with some minor specks of freckling. The triggerguard retains 98% original blue with a couple minor specks of freckling. The walnut stock rates excellent with a crisp 1889 dated cartouche, an excellent circled "P" firing proof, a couple dings and the expected handling marks. They are very desirable and scarce guns with less than 4,000 made in a fifteen-year production period. The metal surfaces retain about 99% original blue finish with limited edge wear, turn ring on the cylinder and few handling marks. The standard trigger and hammer retain bold case-hardened colors. The diamond checkered walnut factory Magna grips with silver S&W medallions rate excellent with a few minor handling marks. serial #1279, 12 ga., 30” plain damascus barrel with a bright about excellent bore which shows a few spots of very light pinprick pitting nearer the breech. The barrel retains excellent star pattern damascus pattern its full-length with some very light fading near the muzzle which also shows a bit of light oxidation. The magazine tube retains perhaps 95% original blue, the loss due to fading while the frame shows perhaps 97% original blue with toning to pewter on the sharp edges and contact points, with a few expected light handling marks or superficial scratches from the years. The breechblock and hammer retain excellent color case-hardening which is muting slightly with a very good color case-hardening on the sides of the lever and its root, the radiused faces and interior toned to a silvery case-hardened patina with some light surface oxidation present. The smooth walnut pistolgrip buttstock and forend panels rate very good to perhaps very good plus for their age, with much original varnish and the expected minor dings and handling marks that come from the years, a bit more varnish wear present on the forend panels. The stippled steel shotgun buttplate retains trace original blue with the stippling still sharp. The gun seems to function very well mechanically. serial #365581, 22 RF, 26” octagon barrel with a very good plus to near excellent bore which shows only some very light frosting, primarily in the grooves. The barrel retains 85-90% original blue, the loss is due to even fading and muzzle wear with a pewter gray area around the barrel’s roll marking which shows remnants of some light oxidation and light pinprick pitting which was very lightly cleaned, likely with steel wool; the markings remain crisp. The magazine tube retains perhaps 92% original blue with the nosecap primarily a blue-gray. The receiver retains perhaps 92-95% original blue with wear on the high edges, contact points and carry point of the frame. The lever and hammer show mottled smoky case hardening, the hammer with strong trace colors. The checkered English walnut buttstock and forend rate very good plus to perhaps near excellent with only minor handling marks from the years, showing added finish many many years ago which has filled the checkering on the forearm somewhat, both pieces of wood exhibiting lovely grain figure. The rifle features special order sights with a Beach combination front, DW King semi-buckhorn rear and a Lyman No. 52 tang sight in place. serial #3625, 45 ACP/AR, 5 1/2" barrel with an excellent bore. This old War Horse has seen only light use in the last 100 plus years and remains in grand condition. The metal surfaces retain about 98% original deep blue finish with scattered light wear on the knuckle and backstrap, high edge wear, a turn ring on the cylinder and light handling marks. This early production gun has concentric grooves on the hammer. The hammer, lanyard ring and trigger retain robust case-hardened colors with the hammer showing light operational and handling wear, the face of the trigger and the ring of the lanyard loop have starting to thin to pewter. The smooth walnut factory grips are numbered to the gun and rate about very good with scattered light handling marks. These grips are the early style that have a flat milled at the top of the panels used by the factory to mount the medallions on civilian guns, later eliminated to decrease felt recoil. Major Gilbert S. Stewart's inspection mark on the frame is crisp as are the other military and factory markings. All appropriate parts are correctly numbered to the gun and it remains fully functional. The Springfield Research Service shows this particular gun was shipped to Springfield Armory on November 10, 1917. You do not find many military guns this old with this much condition unless they were reworked. A solid investment for the military collector. (88873-529) {C&R}

The frame and lockplates are lovely retaining 98% plus original vivid color case-hardening with wear on the sharp edges of the fence and carry point at front of frame. The triggerguard has very good original blue as does the forend latch release escutcheon, the iron is a silvery patina. The checkered capped pistolgrip American walnut buttstock and forend rate very good plus with a bit of added varnish, and the expected very minor dings, scratches or handling marks that come from the years. The length of pull to the antique replacement grooved hard rubber buttplate is 14 1/8” with drops of 1 3/4” and 2 3/4”. The gun locks up solidly with the top lever still right of center, robust ejectors and an automatic safety. An excellent candidate for fall waterfowling, while still maintaining solid investment potential with all of its lovely vivid color case-hardening. (38906-14) {C&R}

This handsome pre-model 27 five-screw revolver remains in grand condition and has a striking two-toned finish that lends real panache to the gun. The metal surfaces retain about 97-98% original blue and nickel plate finishes that show a few minor handling marks, a turn ring on the recessed cylinder and small area of very light scuffing on the frame forward of the triggerguard. The barrel and cylinder are nickel plate with the remaining surfaces blue finish. The service trigger and .500" target trigger retain beautiful case-hardened colors. The smooth period-correct rosewood factory target grips with silver S&W medallions rate excellent. The revolver features a blue finish red ramp front sight set on a blue finish ramp pinned to the barrel, and a black blade micro adjustable rear sight. serial #464991, 32 ACP, 3 3/4" barrel with an excellent bore. This is a lovely example of a Pocket Hammerless that has seen very little use over the years. Made during the "roaring 20's" (1925) this pistol retains about 98-99% original finish that is starting to thin and showing a few tiny spots of pewter on the heel of the grip safety, plus scattered minor spots of freckling on the slide. The checkered walnut factory grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions rate excellent. The pistol includes an original factory hinged purple box that is correctly end labeled and pencil numbered to the gun. The box rates about very good overall with light scuffing on the edges and other handling marks. Inside the box are a Colt manual that is starting to yellow and slight tearing in the folds but rates about very good overall plus a hang tag outlining proper ammunition to use, "Special Instructions" pamphlet, "Proper Ammunition" notice and a factory two-tone magazine. The additional paperwork listed all rate very good to excellent and the magazine is in the same fine condition as the gun. This beautiful pistol has been handled with plenty of "T-L-C" over the years and will make a fine investment. (88873-94) {C&R}

The metal surfaces retain about 95-97% original bright blue finish, the loss being primarily slide wear near muzzle and at sharp edges. There are sparsely scattered light handling marks here and there but most are unobtrusive. The hammer shows excellent color case-hardening with the bright polished surfaces of barrel at muzzle and chamber area still brilliant with only a sparse light stain or two. The checkered hard rubber Rampant Colt / Colt logo grips rate very good plus to excellent with only very minor wear. The arm comes with an original all-blued “Mil./Colt/Cal.38” marked magazine and seems to operate as-designed. The lanyard loop has faded to a silvery patina and there are some scratches present around the backstrap screw but these do not detract from the overall excellent condition of this pistol. The barrel and ejector rod housing retain about 95% original blue, the loss is due primarily to even fading and flaking to a plum patina, showing a bit more wear on the ejector rod housing. The cylinder retains perhaps 85-90% original blue, the balance also a pewter and plum patina. The frame shows trace case colors in the pinched section below the barrel, the balance a warm plum patina, the hammer with strong muting colors with good pale blue on the trigger. The backstrap is a plum brown with the triggerguard showing trace blue at the root. serial #130428, 44-40 WCF, 7 1/2” barrel with a good to perhaps very good bore which shows evident rifling but with pitting its full-length. This rare revolver has been beautifully restored and retains about 97% high quality blue overall, the loss due to some leading edge muzzle and ejector rod wear with a bit of leading edge wear on the cylinder and a bit of toning to gray on the backstrap. The bright polished sides of the hammer remain brilliant and there are a few widely scattered flaked areas here or there which are brown patina and there is one tiny area of pinprick pitting on the cylinder. The revolver has checkered hard rubber Rampant Colt American eagle grips which rate very good with some light flattening of the points, they are un-numbered but their fit is excellent. The arm seems to time well and lockup properly and features a German silver bead style front blade sight and simple U-notch rear. Colt factory records indicate that they were only 21 of these revolvers made in this caliber and the included factory letter shows shipment in November 1889 to Colt’s Agency in San Francisco California in a one gun shipment, confirming the configuration. A very lovely flattop target overall, very nicely refinished, remaining extremely attractive and an excellent example for the collector without commanding a five figure price tag. Description Update 8/15/18: A couple small spots of pitting at rear of barrel serial #69450, 30-40 Krag, 22" barrel with a good plus bore that shows a few patches of light to moderate pitting. The barrel is mostly a dull brown patina with some silvering on the exposed edges and numerous light band removal marks at rear. The barrel band is correct but likely a replacement, it retains much of its original blue with some light flaking to brown and freckling. The magazine box, receiver and sideplate are a dull brown patina with a patch of lightly cleaned pitting on upper tang, some scattered minor oxidation staining and traces of the original oil quenching. The extractor is a dull gray patina with some light oxidation staining and the triggerguard is turning to a dull gray with traces of the original fire blue. The walnut stock rates very good with a strong 1896 dated cartouche, a strong circled "P" firing proof that appears overstamped, a couple small chips, scattered dings and handling marks. The stock retains its sling bar with saddle ring, a correct 1896 carbine handguard, an 1896 rifle rear sight and a front sight cover is included. The stock has the cutout for the Pedersen magazine, the spindle is correct, the trigger is correctly smooth and the swept back bolt is marked "NS" on top and with an "F" on the underside. The rear band is loose, and an original black leather 1918 dated Hoyt sling is included that shows scattered crazing. A solid example of a 1903 Mark I rifle that has many correct parts. The two-bolt walnut stock rates very good with a strong boxed "FJA" cartouche, a strong "RA" marking, a strong Chinese marking on right side of butt, a strong carved "C" marking on the left an added hole between the bands, a few dings and scattered handling marks. The parts all appear to be correctly marked "R" indicating that they are of Remington manufacture. The "C" marking is purported by the consignor to be a peasant farmer's army marking and it is known the U.S. government provided the Nationalist Chinese forces with 1903 rifles. The metal surfaces retain about 90% original blue, the loss is due to fading to pewter on front and backstraps, front of the frame and slide wear with the expected light sharp edge and contact point wear showing scattered handling marks from the years and a light reassembly scratch. The fully checkered walnut grips rate very good plus too perhaps near excellent, showing some minor compression of a few of the diamonds, and some light butt edge wear. The pistol has a 1/8” wide serrated Patridge front sight, shipped special-order from the factory. This is confirmed in the included factory letter showing the arm shipping with a 1/8” Patridge front sight in May 1935 to Shapleigh Hardware Company of Missouri for Jay Warshal & Sons of Seattle Washington. Clearly the purchaser was intent on replacing the factory sight with an adjustable sight, a Micro sits in the rear dovetail now, a vintage Elliason would look even better and be correct. There is some minor peening to the breech face of the slide from use over the years but it is unobtrusive and the slide is appropriately numbered to the gun. Included with the arm is a very fine “Colt/45 Auto.”-marked two tone magazine showing just a bit of surface oxidation. The action retains about 75% evenly thinning original blue finish with some light oxidation staining and a little extremely fine patchy pinprick pitting in a couple areas. There is one area of pitting on the left front sight of action and on adjacent takedown collar where the pitting cold be considered moderate. The color case-hardened finish on the hammer and lever have turned to a smoky even brown patina with traces of color showing in some areas. The plain walnut buttstock and forend rate very good plus to near excellent with 95% original finish remaining and with just normal light handling marks. This rifle is properly un-proofed and remains in nice condition. The barrel and magazine retain about 25% original blue finish overall which is evenly thinning and blending with a pleasing smooth brown patina overall. The action shows about 70% original color case-hardened finish overall which has softened but has a pleasing antique appearance with areas of loss showing a medium gray patina that blends nicely with the faded color. The plain walnut buttstock shows about 30% original finish with even wear and a pleasing smooth surface. The grooved forend is similar with most wear on the belly. The tang screw shows some slot damage and the lower tang is just a tiny bit recessed, probably due to over-tightening of the tang screw. A replacement screw and a very slight adjustment to the lower tang would rectify this if it even mattered to the new owner. The rifle is sighted with standard open sporting sights. serial #174339, 12 ga. on No. 1 1/2 frame, 28" barrels with bright excellent bores choked modified and full. This shotgun remains in very nice condition overall. The Vulcan steel barrels show about 98% museum quality restored blue finish overall. The lugs and raised flats on edges of barrel flats are properly polished bright and the color and style of finish is virtually perfect; difficult to detect. The action shows about 90% original color case-hardened finish with most loss due ot flaking and with those areas showing a pleasing smooth brown patina. The face of the recoil shield shows lots of bright original color case-hardening clearly indicating that this shotgun has been very little used. The checkered pistolgrip buttstock and forend are of walnut and rate very good with a mixture of original finish and a little added light finish mostly toward the butt where there is a very nicely repaired chip at the toe. The gun locks up tight with opening lever well right of center. The gun points nicely with a 14 1/4" length of pull over its correct dogs head buttplate and with drops of 1 3/4" and 2 7/8". serial #2701, 257 Roberts, 26” barrel with an excellent bore. This Classic series rifle was manufactured by Dakota per the consignor’s order in 2002 and features a matte blue Z-Plate finish with about 98% remaining. There are light wear marks at the muzzle, along the barrel and on a few of the bearing surfaces and high edges. Unlike standard more common bluing processes, Z-Plate seals the metal and will prevent corrosion rather than simply control it. This high grade custom sporting rifle features a Winchester Model 70 type action with three-position safety, and has the Mauser style extractor. The exhibition grade Bastogne walnut stock rates excellent and has a few very light handling marks. The oil finished wood features some lovely grain with very nice figuring toward the butt. The stock has borderless checking patterns along the forearm and pistolgrip and additionally features an ebony forend tip, swivel studs, a pistolgrip cap with Dakota Arms logo and has a factory deluxe solid recoil pad. The stock is petite in appearance and has a 13-3/4” length of pull, the whole rifle weighs in at just about eight pounds. There are no provisions for sights, but mounted to the receiver are a set of factory bases with 30mm Leupold style rings. Included are a set of factory documents with manual, cleaning instructions and a certificate of authenticity. A lovely high grade sporting rifle that is the perfect blend of quality and classic styling, and is chambered in a much loved mid-range caliber and would be a top performer with the right optics. serial #20-03857, 20 ga., 26” barrels choked a tight improved cylinder and tight modified with bright excellent bores. The barrels retain about 98-99% original blue showing only the very latest muzzle wear and perhaps a tiny handling mark here or there. The boxlock frame retains nearly all its original color case-hardening which is vivid in spots and the drifting slightly in others to a darker gray case-hardened tone. The engraving remains crisp throughout and is a faithful reproduction of Parker’s DHE patterns. The long tang triggerguard retains all its original blue with the forend iron hardware fully color case-hardened. The checkered straight grip English walnut buttstock and splinter style forend rate excellent with only the tiniest and very sparse handling marks here and there. The oval German silver monogram plate along the toeline remains un-engraved and the length of pull to the single selective trigger is 14 1/8” showing drops of 1 3/8” and 2”. The gun locks up perfectly with the top lever still slightly right of center and the arm seems to function well mechanically. These smaller grade DHE’s are getting harder to find, this one remains in excellent plus condition. (38849-7) {MODERN}
