Graceful New York Percussion Halfstock Rifle by Fish

.40 cal, 31” octagon barrel turned for starter (not included) with a bright excellent bore. This is a graceful rifle with some very lovely condition. The barrel retains about 98% original maker plum brown. It is fitted with a globe style lollipop target front sight, no rear seat and a globe style aperture drilled and tapped into the long tang. The top flat is marked “D Fish New York Cast Steel”. There is light engraving at the breech and on the patent breech plug which shows four inlaid gold bands and a very graceful cap deflecting swirl, retaining some strong trace color case-hardening. The back action lock, indeed all of the attendant metal parts, are a smoky plum brown and very pleasing gray-blue patina. All show light open flowing scroll of excellent quality, the lockplate banknote filigree bordered. There is an iron tailpipe, urn-style front extension on triggerplate, crescent butt and slightly fancy toeplate and a very nice engraved iron patchbox. The rifle is stocked in a nice grade of English walnut with a coarsely checkered wrist. The stock rates excellent with nearly all its original varnish and a very nice flared left-side shadowline cheekpiece. The wedge escutcheons are slightly fancy and there is an ornate pierced and engraved lock screw escutcheon with a leaping buck inlaid in German silver on the cheekpiece. The lock is double acting and the arm is equipped with double set triggers and seems to function well mechanically. A later antique ramrod is included. Daniel fish was a prolific and quality gunmaker in New York City, roughly 1840 to sometime in the 1870s. (38937-304) {ANTIQUE} [Cletus Klein Collection]

.58 cal, 7 1/2” mostly round barrel with octagonal muzzle and a bright excellent bore. This lovely pistol, doubtless for the target shooter and sportsman, is by Carl Pirko of Vienna and nicely appointed, with the backstrap slotted and fitted for a no-longer-present buttstock. The barrel retains about 98% lovely original two-tone browning with nice damascus pattern beneath, and a full-length integral rib, with Rigby-style side flats nearer the breech. There is a simple fire blued blade style front sight adjustable for windage and a screw-adjustable rear sight in the tang, adjustable for elevation. The barrel is inlaid in silver in a geometric pattern at the breech with “C/Pirko/in/Wein”, this flanked by open flowing scroll and the number “2”, clearly this part of a pair or of a larger cased sporting set. The patent hooked breech shows the same nice quality light open scroll engraving which continues down onto the full-length tang/backstrap, the lockplate and the very Prussian style hammer. All these metal surfaces finished French gray by their maker, the nose of the hammer with a quaint eaglehead motif. Triggerguard front extension, bow, guard tang and trapdoor butt cap all show the same excellent quality open flowing foliate scroll. There is a captive ramrod present and small German silver escutcheons through-which the single wedge passes. The European walnut stock rates very fine with much original varnish, flat-top checkering and some nice grain figure, showing a small chip missing just above the ramrod counterbore in the stock. Carl Pirko was active in Vienna from 1831-1867 and made very fine arms, this example is no exception. (38937-102) {ANTIQUE} [Cletus Klein Collection]

serial #3800, .44 cal, 7 1/2" octagon barrel with a bright near excellent bore showing a few small spots of light oxidation and strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this revolver retain perhaps 70% original bright blue with most of the loss due to scattered flaking to a pleasant mild gray patina along the barrel, cylinder and gripstraps. The loading lever has toned to a smoky gray patina while the hammer retains very good case-hardened colors. The screw heads show some light slot wear but retain strong fire blue and all markings remain crisp and clear. The smooth walnut grips are stamp-numbered to the gun and remain in near excellent condition showing some light dings around the edges, crisp sub-inspector markings on the bases and a very nice "RPB" cartouche on the left panel. All of the serialized parts are matching and the action seems to function well mechanically with excellent timing and lockup. The right panel interior has some penciled information from a previous owner Charles W. Springmyer of Cincinnati, Ohio dated 1894. Also under the grip is a small note written by Mr. Springmyer dated June 8, 1894 detailing that he bought the gun new-in-box (as this model was never issued) from Bannerman with accessories for $7.50 and ends the note saying "Just in case you wanted to know". There is then a later note from a subsequent owner (appears to read "Jefferson G. Hammen) dated December 6, 1966. Like the earlier note he details that he bought the revolver for $235 and also ends the note with "Just in case you wanted to know". It appears the earlier owner Mr. Springmyer was born 1872 and died in 1948 and that there is an elementary school in Cincinnati named after him but further details prove elusive. A very nice example for the antique collector; perhaps the next witty owner will see fit to add their own note under the grips. (139320-6) {ANTIQUE}

The metal surfaces of this attractive revolver retain about 55% original bright blue with the balance flaked to a pleasant medium gray-brown patina also showing some scattered light dings and handling marks. The loading lever and hammer show good remnants of case-hardened colors toning to a silvery gray patina overall. The screw heads show some light slot wear but many of them otherwise still retain good fire blue and all markings remain crisp and clear. The smooth one-piece walnut grip is stamp-numbered to the gun and remains in near excellent condition showing some light dings along the base, somewhat worn finish, a nice sub-inspector stamp on the base and a very good "ADK" cartouche on the left side. The cylinder is mismatched but quite close in number (4924), the remaining serialized parts are matching and the action seems to function well mechanically with good timing and lockup. This is a wonderful minty rifle utilizing the 1892 serial number range and appears to be unfired outside of factory proofing, the bolt face remaining pristine. The metal surfaces retain 99% original blue perhaps showing a minor handling mark or two. There is some high edge wear along the grooved steel buttplate and a couple of the screw heads show some very minor signs of wear that normally would not warrant mention if it were not for the fine condition of this arm. All markings remain crisp and clear. The smooth walnut stocks remain in excellent condition retaining all of their factory finish with just a few very light handling marks scattered about. The rifle is sighted with its original rear sporting sight, Marble's No. 2 brass bead front and the action functions crisply. The checkered deluxe walnut pistolgrip buttstock with checkered steel buttplate and Winchester pistolgrip cap is about very good and may be a replacement from another Deluxe Model, small gaps at the bottom tang have been filled, there is a small gap at the rear of the top tang and there is a very small repaired area on at the junction of the top tang and the receiver on the left-side, the capped forend is about excellent with maybe a touch of added finish and a couple small blemishes. The smooth walnut buttstock, with checkered hard rubber buttplate and sling swivels, is about excellent with just a couple very small superficial handling marks. The rear sight is a flip-up adjustable white diamond, the front is a hooded silver bead. Included is a single factory magazine. These desirable lever-actions were only in production from 1968-1973, this is an early and very nice example of a small production-run Winchester. (229331-7) {MODERN}

Description Update 08/22/2019: 2” hairline crack on right side of butt rearward of frame

serial #274317, 30 WCF, 20" round barrel with full magazine and a bright near excellent bore showing a hint of minor frosting and strong rifling throughout. The barrel and magazine tube retain about 97% original blue showing some spots of minor thinning, a few minor freckles and scratches, while the bands are thinning to gray patina but retain strong original blue. The action and bolt retain about 85% original bright blue showing moderate thinning to gunmetal gray patina, some freckling along the left side and minor scratches. The lever is toning to a silvery gray patina but it and the hammer still show good case-hardened colors and the loading gate retains most of its lovely fire blue. All markings remain crisp and clear and the Winchester factory barrel proof is stamped ahead of the sight dovetail in order to accommodate the factory Express sights. The plain walnut stocks remain in near excellent condition showing just a few light dings and handling marks. As noted above the carbine is sighted with a Winchester Express rear sight, silver bead front, the saddle ring is intact and the action seems to function well mechanically. Description Update 08/22/2019: Light scattered scratches on right tube & light pitting at muzzles

12 ga., 31” Thomas Kilby barrels showing bright very good plus to otherwise excellent bores which do show a bit of scattered light oxidation, with a bit more moderate oxidation right at the muzzles, which will likely leave behind some light pinprick pitting. The barrels themselves remain lovely showing a beautiful contrasting three tone gray and brown damascus pattern nearly their full-length, the only detractor being some oxidation and pitting at the muzzles for about 1/2”, with scattered speckles as far back as 1”. The breeches retain lovely original color case-hardening with sprays of nice tight scroll engraving with background punch-dot shading and banknote filigree borders. The rib is marked “N.N. Wilmot St.Louis”. The bar under locks and hammers show some nice color case-hardening, perhaps 85-90% remaining, and they are adorned with the highest quality open flowing foliate scroll with extremely fine background punch-dot shading. There are small game scenes left and right with birds and a walking stag, each maker marked “N.N. Wilmot”. The hammers have graceful recurving spurs and neat cap deflector swirls just to the rear of their impact areas. The tang, tailpipe triggerplate front extension and guard all show the same top-quality scroll engraving with a gun dog on the bow of the guard. The metal surfaces are primarily a pewter gray patina but the bow shows some strong remnants of original blue with trace case color on the buttplate tang. The straight grip English walnut buttstock rates very fine to perhaps near excellent, showing perhaps an old very light cleaning but with all edges crisp and metal and wood fit excellent overall. There is lovely grain figure in the butt on left and right with the expected light dings and handling marks that come from a field-used arm, the gun having a length of pull of 14” to the smooth steel butt. The locks are crisp and mechanically functional and the underside of the barrel exhibits Birmingham proofs, is “12” bore marked and is marked “T Kilby/Laminated/Steel/Barrel”. Rarely do we find double guns from Wilmot, his pistols are far more common, this is a very lovely example, and after a thorough inspection by a competent ‘smith, likely still very usable. The wedge is captivated however the front and rear of the head show chips and its fit is very tight. The original ramrod with wad-pull end is included. Nathaniel Wilmot, formerly of Boston Massachusetts, was active in St. Louis Missouri circa 1850-1859, after which time he moved to St. Paul. (38937-449) {ANTIQUE} [Cletus Klein Collection]

serial #3318, About 10 ga. (likely worn, underside of barrels are marked “12”), 32 1/2” barrels with mostly bright very fine bores which show remnants of some light oxidation and light pinprick pitting. The barrels are mix of soft brown patina and remnants of a nice damascus pattern with some areas toning to pewter. There are scattered spots of oxidation and a few scattered spots of light pitting. The rib is Moore & Harris London marked with “Superfine Laminated Steel”, this surrounding the seal of Britain, lion and unicorn flanking the coat of arms. Breeches show a bit of color case-hardening with platinum blowout plugs and dual inlaid platinum lines with a bit of engraving on the rib extension between, the tang very neatly engraved and retaining very good original blue. The lockplates show perhaps 30% original color case-hardening, the balance toning to a smoky case-hardened patina. They exhibit a few sprays of excellent quality light open flowing scroll with game birds right and a running hare left, the engraving really quite endearing. Both hammers show a bit of engraving and are chiseled at their nosecap into Scottish Terrier head motifs, uncharacteristically folky for a British shotgun and quite endearing. The balance of the metal surfaces are primarily a dull gunmetal gray patina with the bow of the guard showing some strong trace bright blue. They show the same light open engraving with the bow of the guard having a gun dog on point. The English walnut stock rates very good with the expected minor dings and handling marks that come from the years and a circular repair to divot along the toeline with another repair at the toe proper. It is now devoid of finish but shows some nice grain figure and has an unengraved monogram plate atop the wrist. The locks are mechanically functional, the left hammer slightly ahead of the right. The arm comes cased in a mahogany presentation case with nickel plated brass supports on the exterior, mahogany wiping rod, leather shot pouch and patent fireproof screw off top leather covered powder flask from American Cap and Flask. there is a small whisk brush, a mainspring vice and a nipple spanner wrench. The interior is a fading Burgundy lining, a few of the supports are loose but present. A very attractive British percussion fowler with some very unique hammers. The Leupold Bernard barrels are primarily a dull contrasting gunmetal gray and pewter patina showing light damascus pattern and light oxidation staining remnants, with some scattered light pinprick pitting. There are platinum blowout plugs at the breeches with a bit of nice engraving on the rib extension between. Leupold Bernard has marked the underside of the barrels with his name and sunken “LB” touchmark along with his name inlaid in gold along the rib “Canon de Ld Bernard a’ Paris”. The stepped lockplates and hammers are a dull gunmetal gray patina, as-is the upper tang. They show nice sprays of open loose scroll engraving with banknote filigree on the lockplates. Beneath each hammer is the makers mark “Cotté Arqe a Peronne” and there is the same lovely engraving along the tang. Wedge escutcheons and the balance of all the metal surfaces show the same nice quality engraving. The tailpipe and bow of the guard actually show some strong remnants of bright blue, the balance of the metal surfaces a dull gunmetal gray patina. The French walnut straight grip stock rates very good-fine showing an old cleaning many years ago, the checkering now completely flat-topped. There is some nice grain figure in the butt and there is a shield shaped silver monogram plate atop the wrist which is inlaid in gold “HG” (the same initials are in a brass monogram plate affixed to the case). There is a German silver stock support inlaid in the area beneath the breeches just ahead of the tang hook and the arm is maker equipped with sling eyes. The locks are crisp and mechanically functional and in time. The gun comes in a French fitted oak case with green baize interior with the makers name embossed in gold within the lid. Inside we find a Sykes patent fireproof screw-off top flask with adjustable spout from 2 1/2 to 3 drams. It features a foliate embossed body on both sides with tight seams and remnants of original lacquer. There is a turned mahogany percussion cap “jar” and an assortment of wads within the case compartments; the key for the case is included. The touchmark on the underside of the barrels was used by Bernard in the period 1867-1873, Cotte’ was active in Pérrone, Sommé circa 1870. There is good straw temper on the bolt handle catch with the races being mostly bright showing some very light oxidation staining, and the triggers remaining bright and unstained. The classic style, checkered capped pistolgrip walnut stock rates very good plus to perhaps near excellent showing minor handling marks that come from a carefully used field-hunted arm, the left side of the butt showing the bulk of the small handling marks. Rifle is equipped with a rounded left side shadowline cheekpiece, checkered panels with mullered borders, double set triggers and a synthetic pistolgrip cap; there is a right side thumb safety and conventional shroud-mounted safety. The arm is sighted with its original hooded bead front and two leaf rear, one standing, one folding. Additionally the left side of the receiver has been professionally fitted with a Paul Jaeger quick detachable scope base and ring set which mounts a Nickel supra-varipower 2 1/2-6X telescopic sight with post and crosshair reticle and cloudy optics. Maker sling swivels are intact as is the original grooved synthetic buttplate. A very nice and vintage Stoeger Arms import that could be taken afield, while still maintaining its collectors value. The rifle is stocked in a lovely grade of English or perhaps Circassian walnut, very classic Oberndorf style with schnabel forend tip and nice side panels. It features a keyed forend, checkered panels at the grip and boasts a 14” length of pull to the grooved horn buttplate. The stock itself rates very fine showing some lovely grain in the area of the butt with sparse very light handling marks that come from a carefully hunted arm. The rifle is equipped with maker sling swivels, double set triggers, lever-release floorplate and there is an unengraved German silver oval monogram plate along the toeline. There is a simple blade front sight, raised matted rib the full-length of the barrel with a nicely reduced section in the middle and a two leaf express rear, one folding, one standing. The periphery of the bolt knob has been very neatly checkered for a positive grip and the face of the trigger has been very finely checkered. The rifle is stocked in Circassian walnut by Griffin & Howe, slightly hump-back comb to accommodate the telescopic sight, with a flared shadowline left-side cheekpiece. The forend is very generous and has a nice wrap-around checkering pattern, as does the grip area, both neatly bordered. the stock rates very fine showing the expected light dings and handling marks that come with the years and a small spot at the right side of the butt showing the beginning of a bit of slight flaking. Combat Masterpiece revolvers with nickel plate are not often seen and this lovely 1954 made Pre-Model 18 revolver retains about 98% original nickel plate with limited clouding, scattered scratches, cluster of light to moderate scratches on the frontstrap directly behind the triggerguard and a light turn ring on the recessed cylinder. The service trigger and hammer retain bold case-hardened colors with light operational wear, the edges of the trigger are starting to silver and the hammer spur is toning to pewter with oxidation stains. The diamond checkered walnut factory Magna grips with silver S&W medallions are numbered to another gun and rate very good to excellent with no appreciable wear but there is a small chip on the left panel where it meets the frame on the frontstrap. The revolver features a blue finished Baughman ramp front sight, black blade micro adjustable rear sight, all appropriate parts are correctly numbered to the gun, and it still times and locks up correctly. The grip frame, cylinder and barrel have factory "N" stamps to indicate nickel finish. An excellent example of an occasionally seen nickel plate Combat Masterpiece. (89222-9) {C&R}

.40 cal., 32” octagon barrel, turned for starter, with a bright excellent bore. The barrel retains about 97% original maker plum brown, there being a bit of light muzzle wear and even fading. There is a simple globe style front sight, currently without insert, rear slot is open and there is an original tang sight in place atop a raised pad on the lightly engraved tang. The barrel is maker inlaid in gold “AG Genez” flanked by light scroll. The patent breech is nicely, deeply engraved and what are likely the owners initials “AP”, are inlaid in gold atop the tang. The lock and hammer show the same nice quality deep open flowing scroll with the hammer chiseled and engraved in a dog’s head fashion. The lockplate is maker marked “Genez” and both are a smooth pewter case-hardened patina. The heavy German silver hooked buttplate features acorn finial heel and engraved tang and the winged lock screw sideplate is very stylish with a heart shaped pierced center and scroll engraving. The English walnut stock rates very fine with just the expected minor dings and handling marks from the years and features a generous flared left side shadowline cheekpiece with the checkered panels. The arm is equipped with a single set trigger which functions properly with a crisp lock. The stock does show a 4 1/2” split along its left top edge rearward from the nosecap, it would be an easy repair. What is likely the original, or at least a period, ramrod is included as is a turned hardwood palm rest. August Genez was active in New York City from 1858-1870. This particular rifle is published in The New York State Firearms Trade © Swinney-Rowe, on pages 178-179. A very nice example of Genez’ work, still in a very fine state of condition. .40 cal., 32” octagon barrel, turned for starter, with a bright excellent bore. The barrel retains about 97% original maker plum brown, there being a bit of light muzzle ...morewear and even fading. There is a simple globe style front sight, currently without insert, rear slot is open and there is an original tang sight in place atop a raised pad on the lightly engraved tang. The barrel is maker inlaid in gold “AG Genez” flanked by light scroll. The patent breech is nicely, deeply engraved and what are likely the owners initials “AP”, are inlaid in gold atop the tang. The lock and hammer show the same nice quality deep open flowing scroll with the hammer chiseled and engraved in a dog’s head fashion. The lockplate is maker marked “Genez” and both are a smooth pewter case-hardened patina. .45 cal., 29” part octagon part round barrel with a bright about excellent bore and included false muzzle. The barrel is a plum brown patina which is a mix of original browning and light soft oxidation speckles, showing some spots of scattered light pinprick pitting and some light handling marks and dings about its surface. There is a simple globe style front sight and a rather nice long tang round top v-notch rear with step elevator, additionally a windage and elevation adjustable long tang aperture sight has been fitted at the breech end of the barrel. The left diagonal flat is stamped “N Whitmore” and “Cast Steel”, the gun being the work of Nathaniel Whitmore of Boston. The back action lock and hammer are a pewter gray patina with some light open flowing scroll, the lockplate marked identically as the barrel. There is a German silver nosecap, tailpipe, single spur triggerguard with engraved front extension, crescent butt and lightly engraved toeplate. Additionally there is a semi-fancy scrolling lock screw escutcheon and a very nice Federal Eagle patchbox, each also of German silver, the patchbox very nicely engraved. The rifle is stocked in American black walnut with a nice flared left side cheekpiece. The stock rates very fine with the expected light dings and handling marks that come from the years but retaining good original varnish. The arm is fitted with a single set trigger which seems to function properly as does the lock. There are some dings and impact marks on the face of the false muzzle. .34 cal, 30 1/2” heavy octagon barrel with false muzzle and a bright excellent bore. The barrel is a pleasing original maker plum brown with toning to pewter on the sharp edges, with remnants of some light pitting near the now vacant rear sight dovetail. It features a heavy globe front sight with a lollipop insert and diopter rear sight in place on its tang-mounted seat. The top barrel flat shows nice hand-stamped shaded shadow-lining its full-length and is marked “Th. Severin. S.F.CL” on its top flat. There is a rather large flared patent breech and unadorned tang which are a blue-gray case-hardened patina, the lockplate as well is unadorned and a smooth gunmetal gray with a heavy yet graceful hammer. There is a silver plated heavy nosecap, single German silver escutcheons (wedge appears to be a replacement) and a German silver plated single spur triggerguard with a rearward grip flourish. The guard is interesting in that it is quick-detach to allow one access to the trigger adjustment screw, the trigger plate or the assembly may be a replacement, as there is a front extension present which appears to be a separate piece, and likely would not have been so originally. The heavy iron Schuetzen style buttplate is now a dull gray and brown patina. The American walnut stock rates very fine to perhaps near excellent showing the expected minor dings and handling marks here and there but with very crisp edges and a lovely stylized flared left-side shadowline cheekpiece. The arm features coarse checkering at left and right of the wrist with nice mullered borders and an interesting accent line coming back from each stock flat through the wrist which gives it a somewhat trapezoidal or diamond-like cross-section. The lock is single-acting and the arm is equipped with double set triggers, the front extremely light when set and must’ve performed amiably in its task as a target rifle. .40 cal., 34 3/4” octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel is an overall pewter gunmetal gray patina and is fitted with a simple sporting German silver front sight and slightly ornate shallow v-notch rear which exhibits some very lovely pale fire blue and is actually pierced midway down its length to reveal the makers name stamped on the barrel beneath. The breech shows a bit of geometric engraving with an inlaid gold band, the short tang lightly engraved and a dark gray patina. The back action lock shows light open scroll and banknote edging with a graceful dolphin nose hammer with nice rearward flourish at the spur. There is a pewter nosecap, brass tailpipe and New York style dual spur triggerguard with a pineapple front extension. The faceted brass buttplate and semi-fancy toeplate show some very light engraving and there are two oval German silver monogram plates atop the wrist which are un-engraved. The American walnut stock rates very fine with some lovely grain figure in the butt, coarse wrist checkering and a square-bottom cheekpiece, retaining much original varnish with a bit of crazing finish on its left side. The lockplate screw escutcheon shows a long German silver sea serpent-like tail and there is a nice pierced German silver star inlay on the cheekpiece which is lightly engraved. This would appear to be the work of “JN Maynard” purportedly of Deposit, New York in the 1860s, John Maynard of Albany would be a bit too early for a percussion gun. A very graceful rifle overall. .44 cal., 33” octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore and false muzzle. The barrel retains most of its original maker plum brown while the faceted Ramsdell-style action frame and is primarily a gunmetal and pewter patina with remnants of light oxidation and a few spots of scattered light pinprick pitting. Unlike most arms of this configuration, this rifle actually features a scant forearm. It is equipped with a pewter nosecap and simple single spur German silver or silver plated triggerguard, showing a repair at its root. There is a simple crescent buttplate and toeplate, both German silver or silver plated brass. The buttstock rates very good to fine with much original varnish, light flaking and handling marks from the years and has a nice pendulum style patchbox on its right side. The forend rates about very good showing a few very minor cracks and with the expected light dings and handling marks from the years. The rifle is sighted with a Beach style combination front sight which is a later replacement during the period of use, a semi-buckhorn v-notch rear and a lollipop style tang sight which has a windage slide, additionally the tang shows two other drilled and tapped holes, perhaps for some manner of telescopic sight base no longer present. The lock seems to function well mechanically and the barrel is retained to the frame by a single vertical pin. What is likely the original ramrod is included as-is the false muzzle. Sellers lists Angell as a “Norman” but research by author HJ Swinney suggests his name was “Nehemiah”, although this seems improbable given genealogical research. Angell was active in the Erieville New York area in the 1860s but is not actually found within the town of Erieville. Included with the false muzzle is a brass starter with replaced plunger which fits just a bit loosely. In any event this is a lovely, if somewhat spartan rifle, with a very interesting action frame. serial #EAGLE798, 22 S, L, LR, 20” barrel with an excellent bore. The barrel and tube retain about 99% original blue, “EAGLE SCOUT” is stamped and inlaid in gold on the right-side near the breech. The smooth buttplate and grooved receiver retain nearly all their gold-plate with a couple lightly tarnished areas where the receiver butts the forend and a couple small spots on the edge of the buttplate. The receiver has been triple level gold etched to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Eagle Scouts, the right-side shows a couple Scouts cooking over a fire, making camp and a hand giving a three-finger Scout’s salute, the left-side shows scouts in a canoe, a scout and a troop leader and a scout with a banner reading “DO A GOOD TURN DAILY”, both sides are bordered with words including “ODEDIENT”, THRIFTY” and “MENTALLY AWAKE”, the hammer and lever flats have been etched with lengths of rope displaying different types of knots. The checkered high-gloss American walnut buttstock and gold-capped forend are about excellent, they are very finely figured with a gold medallion inlaid on the right of the butt reading “1910-1985” and “Eagle Scout”. The carbine is sighted with a buckhorn sporting rear and a dovetailed gold bead front. Included is the original full color picture sleeve with two-piece styrofoam packaging and shipping box, both with correctly numbered end labels, and a blue baize-lined fitted mahogany presentation case with etched crystal disk reading “WINCHESTER EAGLE SCOUT COMMEMORATIVE. The interior is about excellent, the exterior shows a few scratches, handling marks and age cracks. Only 1000 of these guns were made in 1985, a nice homage to a historical organization, and their top, hard-earned rank. (229114-5) {MODERN}
