FFL holders may take possession of any firearm on day of sale when they present a signed copy of their Federal Firearms License. New Hampshire residents over the age of 21 may take possession of any firearm on day of sale providing the proper paperwork is filled out and the transfer has been approved either through the NH State Police or the FBI NICS System. While most NICS and State approvals are immediate, approvals could take up to 3 days. Most non-residents may take possession of long guns on day of sale after completing the proper forms and successfully completing a NICS check; modern handguns will need to be shipped to an FFL holder in the buyer's home state. Very Rare Beretta M9-FS Semi-Auto Pistol Made for The U.S. Army Reserve Shooting Team

serial #BER183489Z, 9mm, 5" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces of this pistol retain 99% original factory dull blue and anodized finishes showing a couple of very light handling marks sparsely scattered about. The black checkered synthetic grips with Beretta logos remain in excellent condition. The pistol includes its original factory sleeve and blue plastic hard case, manual, cleaning brushes and two 15-round magazines. The magazines and major components bear proper military drawing numbers, "PB" in a circle sans serif on the left side slide, "PM" proof on right side slide and "U.S. 9mm M9" military designation. The story behind these pistols is an interesting one, in 1992 Lt. Col. (Res.) Mark Westrom of AMCOM Rock Island worked a deal with Beretta USA to provide a limited number of pistols for the U.S. Army Reserve Marksmanship Shooting Team. Due to U.S. Government regulations, no working firearms are deaccessioned (the only notable exception being M1 Garand rifles), therefore pistol team members could not legally obtain an actual U.S.-issued Beretta M9 pistol for practice and competition shooting. Beretta made available a total of 217 M9 pistols that were taken "off the line" from the government contract and given conventional civilian serial numbers with the "BER" prefix and "Z" suffix. Since the U.S. Government never took legal ownership of the pistols, no DOD regulations were violated, and the individual shooters could purchase the arms directly. It was eventually agreed between Beretta and the U.S. Army at Rock Island Arsenal that they would not have any future production of these pistols. Evidently the D.O.D. got wind of the deal and stopped any further "civilian" offerings, even though, technically these were not "civilians" purchasing the arms. These guns were the subject of a September 1996 American Rifleman article detailing their interesting history, a copy of which is included. With only 217 such pistols manufactured by Beretta, the chances of locating one on the secondary market are very slim and this is a very rare opportunity for the Beretta or military pistol collector to obtain an actual M9, as-issued government pistol. In 1960 when the Super Blackhawk mahogany presentation case supplier's facility burnt down Ruger needed a quick fix for packaging their guns and resolved the issue with a three-prong strategy: reduce cost of the guns, give them a high polish and provide a unique corrugated cardboard box cut to fit the revolver and designed to slide into an outer sleeve. The metal surfaces of this excellent condition 1961-made Super retain about 98-99% original blue showing some light high edge and operational wear handling marks and the frame is starting to tone to plum. The varnished smooth walnut factory grips with black Ruger Phoenix medallions rate near excellent showing old handling marks and light striations. Revolver features a serrated ramp front sight, steel Micro black blade adjustable rear sight, it has a Ruger Phoenix on the barrel, type 3 steel ejector rod housing with straight slot and type 3 ejector rod with large head. The box features a separate cardboard cutout for the revolver with a printed red Ruger Phoenix, the inside of the cover features a paper label showing a red Ruger Phoenix with model, caliber and address below it and is the same style used in the earlier mahogany presentation cases. The cover of the box has a large red Ruger Phoenix and overall rates about good to very good showing scattered staining, right corner is torn, right rear corner starting to tear and the two left corners show light repairs. The outer sleeve is hand numbered to the gun and rates about good to very good overall showing light to moderate scuffing on the folded edges and the ends show light to moderate scuffing, tearing and crushing. The transfer bar safety update has not been installed on this revolver. More of the "white box" guns shipped than the mahogany cases but the attrition rate of the boxes was very high making for a rare combination. (8A9314-58) {C&R} [Robert C. Greenberg Sr. Collection]

serial #730145, 44 WCF, 20'' round barrel with full magazine and a bright near excellent bore showing a few small spots of very light pinprick pitting in the strong rifling. The metal surfaces of this 1913-manufactured carbine are toning to a mottled gray patina with a few small areas of light pitting, scattered spots of old oxidation, typical Winchester striations on the bottom of the frame, and an easily missed small cut in the barrel and magazine tube half way between the bands. There are remnants of original blue along the wood line and between the barrel and bands, and the breech of the barrel is marked with the Dominion of Canada Proof, ''DC / P (crown / crossed pennants)'', indicating Royal Navy acceptance for service during WWI. The smooth walnut straight grip stock and nicely-figured forend rate very good plus to about excellent and appear almost unused except for a couple nicely done small filled repairs in the right wrist near the tang and around the heel of the butt where the buttplate was fitted causing a tiny bulge directly in front of the tang. The saddle ring and stud are present on the left of the frame and the carbine is equipped with a brass blade front sight and an adjustable leaf rear sight. A handsome 1892 that was pressed into emergency Royal Navy service during the First World War. (23C9510-8) {C&R}

Fine Cased Pair of Percussion Pistols

43 caliber, 9" octagon barrels with bright excellent smooth bores. These pistols are unmarked on their exterior, the undersides of barrels are Birmingham proofed and marked "H&S" and the insides of the lockplates are marked "H&S". We attribute the guns to Hollis & Sheath who were active in Birmingham during the middle of the 19th century. These pistols were obviously made for export and were intended to be marked by their retailer but they remain unmarked. It would be nice to see a New York or Philadelphia retailer mark on the barrels but it just isn't there. The pistols are of very nice quality with back action locks which are nicely scroll engraved as are the patent breeches which are also double silver banded. The barrels are fastened by a single key with German silver escutcheons and the ramrod channels are enclosed to within three inches of the muzzles which requires only a tailpipe to retain the ramrod. The pistols have a lovely simple style and very graceful lines. The condition of the pistols is fabulous. The barrels each retain 95% original brown finish with lacquer still present and with strong pattern visible the entire length of the barrels. The locks, barrel breeches and tangs retain 97% vivid original color case-hardened finish. The stocks rate excellent plus with 97% original finish remaining with nice clean flattop checkered bag shaped grips. There is some very light crazing in the finish which barely warrants mention and the tailpipes retain strong original color case-hardened finish. The triggerguards are nicely engraved in the same style as the locks and have flaked with surfaces now bearing a pleasing smooth brown patina with strong traces of original blue in protected areas. The pistols feature single set triggers and have simple original sights in place. The pistols come in their original French fitted mahogany casing with a burgundy baize liner that has faded some and has a truly wonderful appearance. The pistol is accompanied by a French fitted eagle flask which is in wonderful condition, two round ball moulds, a tin of caps, cast balls, a ramrod / cleaning rod and a lovely little ebony handled dirk with its original leather scabbard with German silver fittings. The compartment for the dirk is the same size as the compartment for the cleaning rod and may have originally held a cleaning rod however, the dirk fits perfectly and adds character to this already beautiful set. The condition of the case is excellent overall with lots of original finish and just one crack in the lid that is not major. This case is very American being of mahogany with a soft wood base. We feel confident that these pistols were made for the American market and likely were cased by the retailer when the pistols were new. A very handsome and fine set of percussion pistols. The pistol is accompanied by a French fitted eagle flask which is in wonderful condition, two round ball moulds, a tin of caps, cast balls, a ramrod / cleaning rod and a lovely little ebony handled dirk with its original leather scabbard with German silver fittings. The compartment for the dirk is the same size as the compartment for the cleaning rod and may have originally held a cleaning rod however, the dirk fits perfectly and adds character to this already beautiful set. The condition of the case is excellent overall with lots of original finish and just one crack in the lid that is not major. This case is very American being of mahogany with a soft wood base. We feel confident that these pistols were made for the American market and likely were cased by the retailer when the pistols were new. A very handsome and fine set of percussion pistols. French Percussion Double Fowler by Cotté

10 ga., 31 1/2'' barrels with bright very fine to perhaps near excellent bores, showing some sparsely scattered oxidation and a few areas of light pinprick pitting. The Leupold Bernard barrels are primarily a dull contrasting gunmetal gray and pewter patina showing light damascus pattern and light oxidation staining remnants, with some scattered light pinprick pitting. There are platinum blowout plugs at the breeches with a bit of nice engraving on the rib extension between. Leupold Bernard has marked the underside of the barrels with his name and sunken ''LB'' touchmark along with his name inlaid in gold along the rib ''Canon de Ld Bernard a' Paris''. The stepped lockplates and hammers are a dull gunmetal gray patina, as-is the upper tang. They show nice sprays of open loose scroll engraving with banknote filigree on the lockplates. Beneath each hammer is the makers mark ''Cotté Arqe a Peronne'' and there is the same lovely engraving along the tang. Wedge escutcheons and the balance of all the metal surfaces show the same nice quality engraving. The tailpipe and bow of the guard actually show some strong remnants of bright blue, the balance of the metal surfaces a dull gunmetal gray patina. The French walnut straight grip stock rates very good-fine showing an old cleaning many years ago, the checkering now completely flat-topped. There is some nice grain figure in the butt and there is a shield shaped silver monogram plate atop the wrist which is inlaid in gold ''HG'' (the same initials are in a brass monogram plate affixed to the case). There is a German silver stock support inlaid in the area beneath the breeches just ahead of the tang hook and the arm is maker equipped with sling eyes. The locks are crisp and mechanically functional and in time. The gun comes in a French fitted oak case with green baize interior with the makers name embossed in gold within the lid. Inside we find a Sykes patent fireproof screw-off top flask with adjustable spout from 2 1/2 to 3 drams. It features a foliate embossed body on both sides with tight seams and remnants of original lacquer. There is a turned mahogany percussion cap ''jar'' and an assortment of wads within the case compartments; the key for the case is included. The touchmark on the underside of the barrels was used by Bernard in the period 1867-1873, Cotte' was active in Pérrone, Sommé circa 1870. A quality made French fowler that seems very rugged, and may still do its job afield after a complete inspection by a competent blackpowder arms smith.
