serial #29722, 9mm, 4 3/4” barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces of this wonderful 1939-dated pistol retain about 97-98% original blue showing some very faint silvering along some of the high edges, a couple small spots of gray, and on gripstraps. The small parts retain all of their fine fire blue, the barrel is bright and all markings remain crisp and clear. The original black checkered Bakelite grips with “FB” on the left panel and “VIS” on the right remain in excellent condition, the only noticeable wear being a small abrasion on the left panel above the logo. All of the serialized parts are matching, the action seems to function well mechanically and one original Polish-proofed magazine in excellent condition is included. This is a truly superb example of these iconic and desirable Polish pistols that would make for an excellent addition to any advanced martial collection. serial #3738, 7.62 Nagant, 4 1/2” barrel with a mostly bright very good bore showing some light to perhaps moderate pits in the grooves with otherwise strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this 1932-dated revolver retain about 95% original blue showing some mild high edge wear and some scattered light handling marks with most of the loss due to some operational wear along the cylinder, which also shows a number of small to perhaps moderate dings along the edges of the stop notches. The small parts retain a similar amount of lovely brilliant fire blue which show some scattered mild oxidation staining. All markings remain intact and strong, the various components showing the expected assortment of factory inspection symbols and the barrel and cylinder with small Polish eagle proof. The checkered walnut grips remain in very good plus to near excellent condition showing a few light dings and mild discoloration mostly along the left panel. All of the serialized parts are matching and the action seems to function well mechanically with solid timing and lock-up showing a little bit of play. Only a few thousand of these desirable revolvers were made, mostly for the Polish State Police, and they exhibit a number of differences from their Russian counterparts in checkering style, front sight shape and frame contours, their fit and finish also superb. serial #2492, 30 Mauser, 5 1/2” barrel with an about good bore showing scattered fine pitting and oxidation with otherwise strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this early pistol retain about 80% original blue with overall thinning and toning to mild gray-brown patina, some scattered fine oxidation staining and handling marks. There is some pitting around the grips and some tool marks from disassembly but they are relatively unobtrusive. The bolt remains partially bright showing some scattered mild gray speckling while the trigger is a silvery pewter. The hammer and fire control group have mostly toned to medium gray-brown and the extractor, rear sight slider and firing pin retainer all retain lovely brilliant fire blue. All markings remain intact and strong. The 23-groove walnut grips are stamp-numbered to the gun and remain in very good plus condition showing mostly worn finish and some scattered light dings. The bottom of the right panel shows a softened unit or inventory marking “3790 / PS”. The lanyard ring is intact, all of the visible numbered parts are matching and the action seems to function well mechanically. A very attractive example of a desirable antique C96 pistol. serial #3140, 9mm, 6" barrel with a bright near excellent bore showing just a hint of light frosting. The metal surfaces of this 1917-dated pistol retain about 95% original blue showing some mild high edge wear, a little freckling and oxidation staining along the backstrap, along with a few spots of light pitting mostly around the muzzle, with a few smaller areas along the barrel and some of the high edges. The sear spring and breechblock pin retain some faint fire blue, the fire blue remaining on the front sight is particularly vibrant. The trigger, magazine release, takedown lever, safety and ejector all retain very bold straw color showing just some light freckling and silvering overall. The checkered walnut grips are mismatched and stamp numbered “85” but fit the frame very well, they remain in very good plus condition showing a few small dings, a couple compressed points and handling marks. All of the remaining serialized parts are matching although the un-grooved firing pin and rear toggle pin are un-numbered, the pistol is appropriately stamped with "(Crown) / M" markings and the left side frame and front sight base with "1917". Included with this pistol is a correct concentric circle wood base magazine in very good plus condition numbered “288” with proper naval proof mark. serial #D3127, 7.62x54R, 24 3/4” barrel (27” overall including compensator) with a bright excellent bore perhaps showing the faintest hint of some mild frosting here and there with crisp rifling throughout. The triggerguard and receiver of this 1940-dated rifle are a relatively even mix of original thinning blue and pewter gunmetal patina with silvering along the high edges. The bolt and carrier remain mostly bright showing some remnants of old grease and minor gray freckling while the balance of the metal surfaces retaining about 95% arsenal quality refurbished blue showing some scattered handling marks and some areas taking on a deep plum tone under bright light. All receiver markings remain intact and strong and there do not appear to be any import stamps or Finnish property markings. The smooth hardwood stocks remain in about very good plus condition as lightly cleaned showing some scattered light dings, handling marks and the buttplate a little bit proud in some areas. There are no longer any visible stock markings, the triggerguard is matching the receiver and the remaining numbered parts are mismatched: bolt LV1348 (Tula), bolt carrier DB665 (Izhevsk) and the action top cover is un-numbered but of Izhevsk make. All remaining visibly marked parts are of Izhevsk manufacture including the original cleaning rod. The action seems to function well mechanically and one mismatched Tula SVT-38 magazine is included; it is numbered “SD210.2” and is a mottled blue and gray-brown patina showing some remnants of light pitting. Spencer Civil War Repeating Carbine Identified to a “J. Taggart”

serial #47616, 56 CF, 22” six-groove barrel with a bright very fine bore showing a few spots of light pitting nearer the muzzle and otherwise crisp rifling throughout. This is an interesting carbine that is stamped in small serifed font lettering “J.TAGGART” on the lower tang and it has also been very competently converted during the period of use to centerfire. The metal surfaces have mostly toned to a dark brown patina showing remnants of old oxidation and minor handling marks. The lockplate shows no visible markings and the top action flat retains a mostly intact Spencer Repeating Rifle Co. Boston address with a few letters and most of the patent date no longer visible. The “J.TAGGART” stamp on the lower tang was no doubt applied long ago and shows expected consistent wear, the second “G” worn from contact with the lever when it is closed. The smooth walnut buttstock and forend remain in very good condition having darkened from the years and showing a small thin crack behind the sling bar along with the overall expected light dings and mild abrasions. Metal-to-wood fit remains very nice overall, all hardware is intact and the barrel is matching the frame. The front sight has been replaced long ago with a copper or brass blade and the action seems to function well mechanically. Preliminary research has revealed a number of possible Union cavalrymen including Private James Taggart of the 6th Regiment Missouri State Militia Cavalry, Private John Taggart of the 3rd Regiment Wisconsin Cavalry and Sergeant Jesse Taggart of the 18th Cavalry Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers. It is possible one of these Taggarts took this carbine home after the conflict and stamped their name in it post-war, the centerfire conversion was probably done not long after the Civil War and is also an indication that the arm “left” government service. 50 RF, 20” barrel with a mostly bright very good bore showing a patch of moderate oxidation ahead of the chamber and otherwise strong rifling. The metal surfaces of this carbine have mostly toned to a mild gunmetal gray patina showing some mottled streaks of blue along the barrel, a few areas of minor freckling, handling marks and some light tool marks along the hammer. The lockplate retains some generous smoky case-hardening and retains strong maker markings with “1865” date at the rear. The patent date along the top rear of the action also remains intact and legible along with “M.M.” inspector initials along the left edge. The smooth walnut stock remains in very fine condition retaining a healthy amount of oil finish and showing a shallow 5/8” flake behind the lower tang, a 4” area of light abrasions along the right edge toe line and some smaller scattered handling marks. The stock retains strong “MM” inspector stamps on the left flat and heel, all appropriate hardware is intact and the action seems to function well mechanically. serial #C, 34629, .54 cal, 30” six-groove barrel with a bright very fine bore showing a few spots of pinprick pitting or light oxidation and otherwise crisp rifling throughout. The barrel of this attractive rifle retains about 85-90% original blue with most of the loss due to a little sparsely scattered mild freckling, a small area of light dings on the underside nearer the muzzle and areas toning to a pleasant plum-brown patina under bright light. The barrel bands, lockplate and hammer retain about 95% dark gray oil-quenched case-hardening while the action has mostly toned to a dark gray patina showing some light pitting atop the breechblock and mild speckling. The lower tang shows fine fire blue and the patchbox and buttplate also retain much of their blue. There are some light tool marks along the left side of the hammer and a crack forming at the toe of the buttplate through the screw hole, the arm evidently having been set down very hard. All markings remain intact and strong showing nice patent markings and inspector stamps. The smooth walnut buttstock and forend remain in about very good plus condition having darkened somewhat from the years with strong oil finish, the only major apology being a 3” crack on either side at the toe. There is a thin smoothed-over sliver along the right edge at the tip of the forend along with some scattered light dings and handling marks; there are two ghostly outlines of inspector cartouches on the left side wrist. The barrel is matching the frame, the pellet priming system is intact and the action seems to function well mechanically. A very handsome Sharps rifle for the U.S. martial collector. The barrel of this carbine retains almost all of its original black leather covering showing a few small flakes and cracks along the bottom edge where it wraps around the front of the frame, some overall fine crackling and smaller flakes. The rear sight and muzzle have mostly toned to plum-brown patina while the action is a mottled gray showing an area of moderate pitting along the rear right edge and some subtle remnants of smoky case-hardened scattered about. The internal protected areas of the lever show attractive vibrant case-hardened colors. The sliding hammer safety shows a few flakes of bright fire blue and the frame markings remain completely intact and strong. The smooth walnut buttstock remains in very good condition having darkened from the years and showing strong oil finish along with a tiny hairline crack at the upper tang, thin 1 1/2” crack along the left side butt and some other smaller handling marks. The stock retains very nice fit overall and the brass buttplate has toned to a pleasant goldenrod patina and remains smooth. The metal surfaces of this attractive rifle retain about 98% original Parkerized finish showing a little bit of mild high edge wear and some other scattered handling marks. The sides of the receiver show the typical un-polished rough metal casting and there are some very minor metal imperfections ahead of the receiver markings but these are unobtrusive. The screw heads show some light slot wear and all markings remain intact and strong, the rear right side showing the familiar “CRANSTON ARMS CO” in a triangle and small inspection star. The smooth walnut stocks remain in very fine condition showing strong arsenal oil finish with a very thin 5/8” crack on the left side edge behind the magazine, tiny crack near the tip of the forend, a couple small dings along the edges and some other more minor handling marks. The metal surfaces of this attractive 1939-dated rifle retain about 90% original blue showing some scattered areas of mild thinning and toning to pleasant gray-brown patina, a few scattered handling marks and some minor dings. The bottom metal shows remnants of blue toning overall to plum-brown with some minor oxidation staining. All markings remain completely intact and strong, all components being properly and extensively inspector-marked with correct “(Eagle) / 280” Waffenamts. The smooth laminated hardwood buttstock and handguard are both stamp-numbered matching the receiver and remain in very fine condition retaining strong original finish showing some expected wear at the toe and some of the high edges, scattered light dings, a thin 2” crack at the toe and the initials “RJF” carved into the left side of the butt. The barrel of this attractive 1917-dated rifle retains about 95% original blue showing some mild thinning to gray patina mostly near the muzzle and some scattered very mild freckling. The bands show strong streaks of original bright blue toning to a pleasant gray-brown patina while the triggerguard and floorplate retain about 90% original blue thinning to gray-brown. The bolt release, its spring and a few screw heads retain a healthy amount of fine fire blue and all markings remain intact and crisp. The receiver and bolt show bright areas mixing with mild pewter gunmetal patina and some remnants of old minor oxidation staining. The action screw heads show moderate slot wear and their set screws are missing and the front sight blade shows an added piece of brazed-on brass resulting in a slightly taller and more squared-off sight. The smooth beech stock and handguard remain in near excellent condition showing the expected scattered light dings and handling marks from the years, otherwise maintaining a lovely appearance with excellent crisp inspector stamps along the right side butt, the markings just a bit softer on the pistolgrip and toe line, and both the buttstock and handguard are stamp-numbered matching. There is no stock disc or cleaning rod present, all of the serialized parts are matching and the action seems to function well mechanically. Also included is an original brown leather sling with quick-detach swivel that shows moderate wear and an old glue repair at the end ahead of the swivel. According to the consignor, this rifle was taken from a military warehouse during World War Two and shipped back to the states by his father and remained in the family ever since. The metal surfaces of this bnz 45-coded rifle retain about 92% original hastily-applied phosphate finish showing some overall light high edge wear, some scattered light handling marks and a few minor brown speckles. The metal surfaces show the expected rough machining and finishing standards with somewhat haphazardly dovetailed simple rear sight and spot-welded front sight. All markings remain intact and strong, the barrel shank with “bnz / 1” in a shield, serial number and off-struck eagle firing proof and the receiver ring with “bnz 45”. The simple hardwood stock remains in very good plus condition showing a few spots of lightly added finish, a number of lengthy very thin drying cracks along the length of the underside, a thin 7” scratch along the left side and some smaller drying cracks. There is a visible “4” stamped on the right side ahead of the sling cutout and the left side butt shows the faded remnants of a boxed stamp with the letters “Kas” visible. The magazine follower shows a small Waffenamt and the bolt handle root shows an eagle firing proof at the rear and two “(Eagle) / 77” Waffenamts on the underside. The bolt appears to have been re-struck with the number “7136” in non-serif font, the bolt body has the guide rail and the extractor is numbered “26”. The front sling swivel is intact and the action seems to function well mechanically. A very fine example of these interesting and desirable “last ditch” German rifles. The metal surfaces of this bnz 45-coded rifle retain about 92% original hastily-applied phosphate finish showing some overall light high edge wear, some scattered light handling marks and a few minor brown speckles. The metal surfaces show the expected rough machining and finishing standards with somewhat haphazardly dovetailed simple rear sight and spot-welded front sight. All markings remain intact and strong, the barrel shank with “bnz / 1” in a shield, serial number and off-struck eagle firing proof and the receiver ring with “bnz 45”. The simple hardwood stock remains in very good plus condition showing a few spots of lightly added finish, a number of lengthy very thin drying cracks along the length of the underside, a thin 7” scratch along the left side and some smaller drying cracks. There is a visible “4” stamped on the right side ahead of the sling cutout and the left side butt shows the faded remnants of a boxed stamp with the letters “Kas” visible. The magazine follower shows a small Waffenamt and the bolt handle root shows an eagle firing proof at the rear and two “(Eagle) / 77” Waffenamts on the underside. The bolt appears to have been re-struck with the number “7136” in non-serif font, the bolt body has the guide rail and the extractor is numbered “26”. The front sling swivel is intact and the action seems to function well mechanically. A very fine example of these interesting and desirable “last ditch” German rifles. serial #95311, 38 Colt, 4 1/2” barrel with a bright about excellent bore which shows a few scattered spots of very light oxidation here there or perhaps a tiny pinprick pit or two. The barrel and ejector rod housing retain perhaps 95% original blue, the loss due to flaking and light toning to brown with a small area of light pitting to the left of the barrel marking. The cylinder is an even mix of original blue, plum brown and pewter patina with a few spots of light oxidation and one small spot of light pitting. The frame retains about 95% original color case-hardening, the balance a smoky gray case-hardened patina with a few spots of light oxidation and a couple small spots of pitting on right of frame and loading gate. The triggerguard retains 90% original blue with the bow of the guard and the strap toning to plum brown, the knuckle of the backstrap has excellent original blue with the backstrap proper toning to plum and pewter. The trigger shows some strong trace fire blue with excellent fire blue on the spine of the hammer, the polished sides showing some very light oxidation staining. The checkered hard rubber Rampant Colt grips rate very good showing light wear on the sharp edges, they are un-numbered but fit perfectly. The arm rides in a mahogany presentation case with purple baize lining, recessed for the pistol, with cartridge block for 18 rounds of ammunition. The case rates very fine to perhaps excellent and is a bit more modern than the gun; its key is included. The gun functions well mechanically. A very attractive cased Lightning. serial #5272, 42 Cup-Primed, 5 1/2” ribbed octagon barrel with a bright near excellent bore showing a few small areas of mild oxidation and strong rifling throughout. The barrel and cylinder of this attractive revolver have mostly toned to a mild gunmetal patina showing some remnants of light pitting mostly along the cylinder, some mild brown undertones and other light handling marks. The rear protected corners of the barrel retain a few flakes of original bright blue. The barrel markings remain intact and strong, the cylinder patent dates somewhat softened from the years. The brass frame retains about 97% original silver finish that shows some very mild thinning along the high edges, an area of small dings along the front edge of the frame, toe of the grip and backstrap that are relatively unobtrusive. The silver remains mostly bright and is starting to acquire a mild patina overall, no doubt protected from its many long years inside the case. The hammer shows fading case-hardened colors toning to silvery gray, the cylinder bolt shows a healthy amount of bright fire blue and the ejector rod also retains a healthy amount of original blue. The revolver shows lovely factory embellishments with a light geometric border and foliate flourish along the right and left barrel flats. The cylinder shows scrollwork throughout with wide line concentric rings and fine stippled shading and the frame is extensively embellished with geometric bordering, very finely-detailed foliate scrollwork and lovely extensive punch-dot shading. The smooth mother-of-pearl grips are pencil-numbered to the gun and remain in very fine condition, the only apology being a couple thin chips and small cracks at the top corner of the left panel. The action seems to function well mechanically with solid timing and lock-up. The period mahogany case remains in near excellent condition retaining 95% original exterior varnish showing some spots of mild discoloration and minor scuffs mostly along the lid, the upper right corner also starting to separate very slightly. The interior is lined in dark brown baize and shows a couple very minor tears and scuffs. There is some minor separation along some corners of the partitions and a small wooden spacer along the top edge has detached but these are relatively minor. There is no key present. The barrel and frame of this attractive revolver retain about 80-85% original bright blue showing some overall light flaking to pleasant gray-brown patina most noticeable along the barrel with the gripstraps toning to plum-brown and scattered light handling marks. The cylinder retains perhaps 30% original bright blue with the balance flaked to a nice gray-brown patina while the hammer and loading lever assembly retain strong smoky case-hardened colors with toning to smooth gray. The major components show crisp sub-inspector stamps throughout though there is no final acceptance cartouche on the grips. Some of the screw heads show light slot wear and the maker markings and address along the topstrap were double-struck but otherwise remain strong. The smooth walnut grips are pencil-numbered to the gun and remain in very good plus condition showing strong oil finish with a few small chips and dings along the bottom edges and corners, otherwise retaining excellent fit. The barrel of this pistol retains about 65% original blue with most of the loss due to thinning and toning to gray-brown patina, some scattered light dings and minor remnants of old oxidation. The action retains about 80% attractive case-hardened colors toning to a nice silvery pewter patina and showing some light oxidation staining and a little pitting mostly along the left side. The frontstrap and triggerguard also show some scattered perhaps moderate pitting while the sides of the trigger retain some streaks of fire blue. The breechblock retains about 90% original bright blue and the hammer about 80% attractive straw color. The barrel shows no address and the left side frame retains a crisp Remington’s Ilion address and patent dates. The smooth walnut grip and forend remain in very good condition showing somewhat worn finish, a few small flakes along the edges and some minor dings. The stock fit is excellent and the forend, barrel, grip and upper tang show a matching “212” assembly number, the barrel with an additional number “57” and the tangs also with “741”. The barrel is sighted with the appropriate fixed notch rear sight and a period replacement plain bead front that is curiously installed backwards. The action seems to function well mechanically. serial #11083, .41 cal, 26” heavy octagon barrel with a bright near excellent bore showing a few scattered minor pinprick pits and freckles with otherwise crisp rifling throughout. The barrel of this rifle retains about 90% original brown finish showing some mild overall thinning to gray under bright light and a few sparsely scattered spots of minor oxidation staining or freckling. The action is toning to a mix of pewter gunmetal and mild gray-brown patina with a little scattered old oxidation staining and some generous vibrant case-hardened colors in the protected areas particularly along the right side. The lower tang also shows some nice fire blue in the protected areas below the lever while the patchbox and buttplate are mostly a mild pewter tone. Interestingly, it appears “SHARP’S RIFLE” (the first line in the barrel address) was restruck as one can see the faint remnants of the original stamp which were quite off-center, perhaps explaining the re-strike. All markings otherwise remain intact and quite crisp. The smooth walnut buttstock and forend with pewter tip remain in about very good condition retaining about 90% of an antique varnish that shows light flaking and discoloration. There are some scattered light dings along the buttstock and a shallow 5/8” abrasion above the lockplate while the forend shows a neatly camouflaged repaired chip along the back edge. Stock fit remains quite nice overall. The rifle is sighted with an express rear sight with one standing v-notch and two flip-up leaves and a target globe front sight that has a very wide post. The peg that connects the pellet primer pusher to the hammer has broken off but this is relatively minor and the other components appear to be intact. Matching serial numbers are found on the barrel, forend, patchbox door and buttplate, the rifle is equipped with functional double set triggers and the action seems to function well mechanically.
