West Africa, Mali, Bamana peoples probably mid or late 20th century carved wood (Chi Wara Headdress) antelope and figural headdress unusually carved with upward pointing horns and a female figure. The antelope is considered a symbol of agriculture and farming prowess among the Bambara people. Size 18 1/4" H. Provenance: Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials.
