Item Details
EDOUARD VUILLARD- French (Nov. 1968- Jun. 1940) 18.5" X 22" w/frame 23.5" x 26.25" The painting was bought by the owner, Alejandro's great-grandmother a very wealthy woman (Julieta Arbelaez) in 1963 in Spain (more or less); she bought it from a gallery in Spain. She brought the painting into Colombia where she lived, and before dying she gave it with a legacy in life to Alejandro's grandmother (Esther Arbelaez Fernandez). When Esther passed, the painting was inherited by Alejandro's mother (Maria Paulina Fernandez de Perez). In 2010 Alejandro's mother passed, but before dying in the year 2009 she gives the painting it to her son Alejandro Perez Fernandez. The painting has remained intact since arriving from Spain. Alejandro's great- grandmother use to tell the family that the painting was a great jewel and told the family to always take care of the painting. Also, several well-known artists and curators in Colombia have told the family that the painting is an original and has enormous value, but they never did the homework to get a certificate of it, because they never thought of selling the painting until now.
