This is an original authentic ancient pre-historic Pogo projectile point from Dayton, Tennessee dating to 2,800-2,000 B.P. The Pogo point can has been defined as such, “a ceremonial spears… these are commonly (very) well made, but not commonly found…” Dee Ann Suhm, Edward Kriger, and Alex Jelks (1954). The spear point has an old collection museum tag that reads, “7779 DAYTON TN”. The riker case which is from the original collector is marked on the rear, “238-A4 Archaic 4 1/8” POGO flint point Dayton, Tenn. Book Value $400.00 Ralph Morgan G-10 E. Texas D-95” and “4 1/8” POGO G-10 VALUE 400.00 DAYTON, TN D-95 pg. 645”. This 2800-2000 BP artifact is from the East Texas Native American Indians and is an exceptionally fine spear point. Provenance: From a multi-generation artifact collection spanning 80-100 years from Las Cruzes, New Mexico. The point is in excellent condition and measures 4 1/4”L x 1 1/8”W. Riker case is 4.5”x5.5” and 1” thick.
