Automobile, 1936 Ford 2-Door Sedan. When Ford introduced the 1936 year models the Model 68 2-door sedan kicked off well. Its 90 HP flathead had proven its value & performance. The body had chubby fenders and lines but it looked sturdy and a bit like it was leaning into the wind. They made four models that year and sold nearly a million in the line. Impressive numbers for the economic times. But it was affordable at $500 - $700. The country was coming out of the Great Depression and this was a popular car across a wide mix of the population. The Model 68 looked a lot like the infamous 1934 model that Bonnie & Clyde ended their career in. The '36 is often called a Gangster car. And it was, because that 90hp flathead was fast for the times! This car on the auction block is understandably easy to love. It was built by an old street rodder in Arkansas. And it shows extensive modifications from a distance. The top is chopped and it tells you there's more to see. That chop is a huge job on a sedan. It requires the top to be cut into 6 pieces. Then filled in to fit. All the glass has to be shortened along with the doors. On the doors, handles were removed and the door hinges were reversed to convert it to "suicide doors". This car comes with its own custom trailer and both car & trailer have aluminum Boyd Billet wheels. It has a matching Boyd Billet steering wheel. This '36 is powered by a 350 Chevy automatic. The paint graphics show the vintage "V-8" Ford emblem with a small Chevy Bowtie to signify the engine. The interior upholstery, front and back, carries the same theme. Vintage air, stereo and Heit front end make it a pleasure to drive. The trailer is painted with the same graphics as the car and has plenty of storage. Electronic gauges, no odometer. This Ford is a definite "head turner" and it's ready to pack the trailer and head home. VIN# 39224.
