Framed grouping of 19th century items related to the capture of pigeons in Pennsylvania. Shadowbox frame measures 22.5" x 17.5" and presents "bubble" glass cover that contains 9 items including whistle, boxes, lines and net making/repair devices, many belonging to Jacob Weisel, a pigeoneer from Quaker Hill, six miles from Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Collection was gathered by Charles Hoffman Eldon a taxidermist from Williamsport, Pa (as indicated by plaque) and presented to Colonel Henry W. Shoemaker (1880? 1958) American folklorist, historian, diplomat, writer, and conservationist. Request detailed listing of frame contents.
