7 items Total. Includes 1) 2 1/2 inch Hotchkiss brass case made by Winchester and dated 12-91 (Dec, 1891). Brass, center primed cartridge case with rim. Cartridge case head is stamped, “MANUFACTURED BY WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. / 12 -91 [Star with V]” and Hotchkiss patent dates in circular pattern around the primer. 2) WW2 57mm Artillery shell. Marked on top band " 57mm M70 3-43, AK 146", bottom of shell marked " 146-1. 3) WW2 M74 37MM artillery shell. Brass band marked "PCH -1-1-1943-37MM-M74" with small crossed cannons ordnance stamp. Used with the M3 Anti-tank cannon. 4) Boresight Telescope Mark VIII Mod 6. Designed for naval ordnance, made by Bausch & Lomb, was used to align the bore of a naval gun to its distally-mounted gunsight along the specified firing range. The telescope was positioned within the bore of the gun during the sighting procedure, to align the line of firing with the line of the gun sight, intersecting them along the specified firing range. Used for sighting 3"/50 guns. In wooden case with instruction label. 5) French 37mm Model 1885 shell that was made by Parc dArtillerie de Paris in September 1917. Fuse stamped "L12018" with Anchor. 6) WW2 dated U.S. Artillery shell, brass band marked "MK2-12 A 10-42. Aluminum fuse. 7) Historic German WW1 shell casing. (RhM.F 92) Rheinische Metallwaren und Maschinenfabrik, Düsseldorf. 29 is the Lot number stamped with a Spandau acceptance mark. Dated Jan. 1915. The shell is engraved in script , "German Trench Mortar Shell Case From Chateau Thierry, France, August, 1918. A little faint, but readable. The battle was the turning point of the great war where the U.S. Marines earned the name "Devil Dogs" from the Germans in Belleau Wood.
