THIS IS THE .44-40 CALIBER WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 CARBINE, SERIAL NUMBER 88433, THAT WAS USED BY BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID. IT WAS RECOVERED AT THE SCENCE OF THE SHOOTOUT ALONG WITH OTHER ITEMS AND PERSONAL EFFECTS OF BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID. THE PROVENANCE OF THIS RIFLE IS AS FOLLOWS: 1. A COPY OF A WARRANT FOR THE ARREST OF CAPTAIN JUSTO D. CONCHA DATED 11 NOVEMBER 1908. CONCHA HAD ABSCONDED WITH THE ITEMS THAT HAD BEEN RECOVERED FROM THE SCENE . LISTED IS A "WINCHESTER 88433 1892 RIFLE. 2. A COPY OF A DOCUMENT ISSUED BY THE DIRECTOR OF CDNTRAL ARCHIVES, MINSTRY OF GOVERNENT BOLIVIA, THAT CERRTIFIES THAT THE PREVIOUS DOCUMENT WAS A OFFICAL COPY MADE BY THE ARCHIVE OF NOVEMBER 8, 2004, LAPAZ. 3. A COPY OF THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THE DIRECTOR OF CENTRAL ARCHIVES DOCUMENT. 4. A COPY OF A DOCUMENT THAT DISMISSES THE WARRANT FOR CAPTAIN JUSTO D. CONCHA. 5. COPY OF A LETTER WRITTEN BY A MOTHER TO HER SON DATED 24 APRIL 1975. IT MENTIONS LEATHER TRUNKS, TO INCLUDE GUNS AND PAPERS, AND THE WRITER SAID THAT THESE WERE IMPORTANT KEEPSAKES FORM HIS LAST MILITARY INTERVENTION WHEN HE WAS IN THE ARMY.6. ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THE PREVIOUSLY LISTED MOTHERS LETTER TO HER SON. 7. A COPY OF A STAMPED AND SIGNED BOLIVIAN DOCUMENT THAT GIVES MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY OF JUSTO D. CONCHA APPROVAL TO SELL HIS ANTIQUITIES DATE JUNE 1975. 8. A COPY OF A BILL OF SALE SIGNED ANTIONIO J CONCHA AND DATED 6 JULY 1984 IN LAPAZ. IT LISTS ONE RIFLE WINCHESTER (SIC) 88433 1892 9. A COPY OF THE BILL OF SALE SIGNED BY ANTONIO J. CONCHA AND DATED 6 JULY 1984 THAT WAS NOTARIZED AND CERTIFIED AS AN ORIGINAL DATED 7 SEPTEMBER 2004. 10. A SIGNED AND NOTARIZED AFFIDAVIT OF MICHAEL RONALD ZOMBER PREPARED FOR THE PRESENT OWNER. HE ADVISED THAT MR. HANS WOLFGANG SCHEMKE PURCHASED WINCHESTER 1892 SADDLE RING CARBINE, SERIAL NUMBER 88433, ALONG WITH OTHER OBJECTS EMANATING FROM THE CONCHA FAMILY. MR. ZOMBER CERTIFIES THAT HE ACQUIRED THE WINCHESTER AND THE OTHER ITEMS FROM DR. SCHEMKE. MR. ZOMBER IS A RECOGNIZED EXPERT IN THE AREA OF EUROPEAN, JAPANESE, ISLAMIC AND AMERICAN ARMS AND ARMOR FROM THE 16TH CENTURY THROUGH THE 19TH CENTURY. HE IS ALSO A WRITER OF BOOKS AND SCREEN PLAYS AND HAS APPEARED AS A GUEST HISTORIAN ON HISTORY CHANNELS "TALE OF THE GUN SERIES". HE HAS BEEN A COLLECTOR FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS. 11. THE ORIGINAL WINCHESTER LETTER FOR WINCHESTER MODEL 1892, SERIAL NUMBER 88433. NOTE: IN MY 47 YEAR CAREER, THIS WINCHESTER HAS THE MOST COMPLETE COMPREHENSIVE PROVENANCE DOCUMENTATION OF ANY FIREARM I'VE EVER SOLD!
