Lot # 2 (Sale Order: 2 of 521)
In 2004, the US Mint changed the design of the Nickel to commemorate the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The first nickel depicts the peace medal presented to Native American chiefs as tokens of goodwill. The second is a view of the keelboat in full sail that transported the Expedition through the Louisiana Territory. In 2005, the American bison returned to the coin and the second one is a scene of the Pacific Ocean and a phrase from Clark's journal, "Ocean in View!O!The joy!" The last nickel minted in 2006 depicts Monticello on the back as it has been since 1938. Three different faces of Jefferson are featured. This set has a Denver and Philadelphia Mint of each nickel in the series.

1883 "No Cents" Liberty Nickel
Lot # 4 (Sale Order: 4 of 521)
1883 was the first year of issue of the nearly forgotten old time V-Nickel. The early issues did not have the word "Cents" underneath the "V" on the reverse. Because of this, some of these coins were gold plated by dishonest old timers and passed off as $5.00 Gold Pieces since their size was similar. This activity curtailed when the word "Cents" was added to the coin the next year. This specimen reached the century mark many years ago and is quite rare and very collectible.

Mint-Error Coin
Lot # 6 (Sale Order: 6 of 521)
A Mint-Error coin was incorrectly manufactured by a mint. Some coins may have a specific die crack, while off-center strikes tend to be unique. Mint error coins can be the result of deterioration or malfunctions during the minting process. Accidental error coins are perhaps the most numerous and in modern minting are usually very rare, making them valuable to numismatists. Error coins come in various shapes, sizes and types. The sheer variety of minted errors adds excitement and uniqueness in collecting them!

This coin was minted during this difficult war. It could have been in the pocket of a brave soldier who gave his life for freedom and who fought for the principals and values that have shaped our United States

1909 VDB First Year Issue Lincoln Cent (rare)
Lot # 9 (Sale Order: 9 of 521)
For more than a century, Congress would not depict a recognizable person on a U.S. coin until Teddy Roosevelt became President. For the first time in history, a person, Abraham Lincoln, was honored to celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth. Victor D. Brenner, an artist who greatly admired Lincoln, designed the new cent using a bust of Lincoln. For the first time, the words "In God We Trust" appeared on a coin. It was accepted, but when Brenner put his initials on the coin, another outcry was heard. Mintage was stopped with his initials removed, but not before some had already been released. This coin is one of them.
The Lincoln Head Cent is the longest running series of any U.S. Coin design. It is hard to imagine that a coin we use every day had such controversial beginnings.

Lot # 12 (Sale Order: 12 of 521)
The Kennedy half dollar was first minted in 1964, less than a year after the death of President John F. Kennedy. This Proof specimen has a deeply mirrored surface and is produced on highly polished dies. These coins are sold only in proof sets to coin collectors in limited quantities.

Lot # 15 (Sale Order: 15 of 521)
The "Ike" Dollar was minted to honor Dwight D. Eisenhower, our 34th President. He was a commanding general in World War II and was loved and respected by the American People.
The gambling industry lobbied for a coin to replace silver dollars for slot machines. Silver Dollars were hoarded for their silver content that was worth more than a dollar. Eisenhower Dollars are no longer found in circulation and command premium prices. They are collector's items that keep an important part of American history alive.
