Scarce WTB Gordy Decorated Wine Vessel & Signed

Lot # 12a (Sale Order: 27 of 93)

WTB Gordy Decorated Wine Vessel signed. William Thomas Belah - 1877 - 1955 Monumental piece that bears Gordy stamp three times, one is double stamped in the front of vessel and the other is under the wine spout. This wine vessel has a grape vine decoration with applied grape leaves with a cluster of grapes in relief. A nice lug lifter handle at base with a pouring spout as well. We believe this vessel was made during 1918-1935, thus being the years he was potting in Alvaton, Ga. This has to be a custom piece possibly for a area winery. Condition is very good to excellent, it does have a few rim chips that are from normal wear and a small chip in the grape vine. Again nothing major. Other than that no issues, everything is correct with no repairs or cracks. This is truly a scarce opportunity to own a monumental piece of WTB Gordy works that will fit into any collection or museum. Note that this vessel was purchased from Cagle auction years ago and is still to this day the only known example. 15" tall.
