Antique British Percussion Short Blunderbuss, NVSN, approx. .52 cal., 15.75" 2-stage barrel bells to 1.75" at ring-turned muzzle, marked "26" (3 times) with 4 Birmingham proof marks at left breech flat; flat lockplate is marked "Glukman/1862/Birmingham" in oval below bolster, "(crown)/JC" at front; brass trigger guard and buttplate are marked "D", iron ramrod with brass barrel tip. Oil-finished walnut fullstock has sling loops fore/aft. Condition is very good, the dark barrel being smooth with scattered light erosion, good edges and clear markings, brass with moderate patina. Stock is sound and smooth with a 1.5" scrape and secure 2" V-crack at left wrist, else light use marks, appears to have had a band 5.25" behind muzzle (now missing) and re-shaped at nose (possibly due to damage). Action is very strong, nipple is mashed, smoothbore shows overall moderate erosion. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)

Antique European (Perhaps Belgian) Percussion Short Rifle, Altered from Flintlock, NVSN, .74 cal., 27.1" round barrel marked "0", "FR" and a sunken mark each side of nipple; beveled lockplate with rounded/pointed rear is marked "SB/19." ahead of large hammer with sunken "(crown)/BA" and "B" marks; steel fittings comprise trigger guard with sling swivel and sunken "(crown)/JD" mark at front, 2 finger-ridges at long rear tang, peaked buttplate marked "L", "3785/sunken (crown/shield)/1848" at top, serpentine sideplate, tulip-tip ramrod; 2 spring-retained brass bands (front of double-strap type with blade sight and sling swivel). Oil-finished hardwood fullstock has small circular "FB" stock maker's mark opposite lock, 3.75" "cupped" cheekrest and .9" roundel marked "A.P./1840" at left butt. Condition is good retaining much barrel browning that may be original, else gray-brown gunmetal having pitting at nipple area and top of buttplate, very good edges and markings. Stock is sound and generally smooth having light marks, 2" crack and bit of filler at upper band, and added varnish. Unusual Probably European Percussion Cavalry Carbine, Unmarked as to Maker or Origin, NVSN, .69 cal., 13.5" round barrel marked "2/B" at left, has blade front and raised-notch rear sights, integral nipple bolster at octagonal breech; flat lockplate with squared front and military style hammer is unmarked; steel fittings include loop trigger guard (marked "4" in 2 places) with finger-spur and sling ring on long rear tang, crescent buttplate (marked "4") with reinforced lower tang, belt loop (marked "4") at right-side of buttstock, spring-retained band/nosecap holding the ball-tip ramrod. Walnut halfstock. Mfg'd likely 1840s-60s. Condition is good, the metal surfaces being polished bright. Stock is sound with added varnish. Manceaux Entrepl", has tall left-leaning hammer, was altered from original flintlock; 11.75" front-hinged sling bar with double rings at left side; brass fittings include trigger guard on iron floorplate, flat buttplate, serpentine sideplate, nosecap with bar attachment. Oil-finished hardwood halfstock with "fish-belly" butt profile. Condition is good showing gray gunmetal cleaned of moderate etching with fine edges and clear markings, age-toned brass. Austrian Model 1867 Werndl Breechloading Single-Shot Military Musket, #872, 11mm CF cal., 33.25" round barrel has block-blade front sight and large graduated folding-leaf rear, bayonet lug 4" below right muzzle, marked "1", "St 83" and "Wn 73"; receiver marked at top with conjoined "OE" and "WG", has unique rotating breechblock with rebounding firing pin, 4" spring on tang to hold in place; long back-action lock has tiny sunken round "(lion's face)" mark over "872", hammer marked "B" and "3" at left side; steel fittings include trigger guard with long finger-rest, buttplate marked "V.L St. WB./5212", 2 clamping bands (top with sling swivel), nosecap, slotted ramrod. Oil-stained walnut 3/4 stock stamped "W" atop comb, has smaller marks and sling swivel at belly. Condition is very good showing smooth gray-brown gunmetal (bit of roughness forming at top of buttplate) having sharp edges and markings. Oil-finished walnut fullstock. Originally mfg'd 1850s. Condition is good being bright gunmetal (bit of cleaned erosion at top of buttplate) having sharp edges and markings (barrel appears to have had markings peened over at breech). Oil-finished walnut 3/4 stock. Mfg'd as percussion rifle mid-1850s, altered to metallic cartridge breechloader ca. 1867. Condition is very good retaining approx. 80% thinning military blue and silvered case colors (hammer and buttplate with oxidation), sharp edges and markings. Antique Swiss Model 1842/67 Infantry Rifle, with Milbank-Amsler Metallic Cartridge Breechloading Alteration, #706, 18mm RF cal., 40.5" round barrel with blade front sight and unusual stirrup-type elevation-adjustable rear, marked "706" with what appears to be the "rampant bear" mark of Canton Appenzell at rear sight and a sunken oval "(cross)/V" acceptance mark at breech; large square-front lockplate (originally flintlock) is marked "(crown)/BF" (Beuret Freres of Liege, the original maker), has large military-style hammer; front-hinged "trapdoor" style breechblock has right-side release knob, is marked "Geb. Sulzer" and 3 "(cross)/V" marks outside, "S 706" inside; steel fittings include 2-pc. trigger guard with sling swivel and 2 finger-grooves, wide buttplate, serpentine sideplate, 3 spring-retained bands (top of the double-strap type, middle with sling swivel), trumpet-tip ramrod marked "2/265" (all having the "(crown)/BF" maker's mark). Fullstock of oil-finished walnut is marked "706" at sideplate, "1150" and large "E.G." within oval at left, "(star)/(crown)/Beuret/1/0" on belly. Condition is fine having overall bright finish with sharp edges and markings. Stock is sound and smooth with small wood losses at middle band, occasional minor marks, added varnish.  There is a 1.5? crack on the right-side wrist and approx. 1? crack at the left-side wrist.  Action is strong and crisp, clean bore shows light frosting and fine rifling. This breechloading mechanism was designed and patented by American Isaac Milbank, modified by Rudolf Amsler, and adopted by the Swiss Army in 1863. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)

Antique Indian Cavalry-Marked Military-Style British SXS Percussion Shotgun, NVSN, 10/10 ga., 20.75" round twist barrels have post front and folding-leaf rear sights along wide top rib marked "13" at breech, and a 5-digit perhaps unit designation in Gujarati (Sanskrit-like) writing hand-punched at left; a single lower rib pipe retains the button-head stirrup-type ramrod; both back-action locks are marked "Swinburn & Son/1857", with outside hammers. Varnished rosewood-grain halfstock has splinter-style forend, trigger guard with rear finger-grip, marked "10/13" above the 4" round-door patch box, "19" at left, has shotgun buttplate marked "Scinde/Irregular/Horse" at top. Condition is very good, being gray gunmetal having scattered light oxidation, sharp edges and markings. Stock is sound and smooth with minimal marks, pleasing grain and color, thin later varnish. Actions are very strong, bores show light erosion. Mfg'd ca. 1887. Condition is good retaining traces of blue and scattered oxidation and discoloration over gray gunmetal, fine edges and markings. Stocks are sound showing rather heavy age and military use marks, a thru-hole 4" ahead of receiver, generally good markings and perhaps added finish. Antique Swiss Model 1856/67 Milbank-Amsler Military Rifle, with Sling, #1074, 10.4 mm RF cal., 27" round barrel, small block-blade front and tangent rear sights, bayonet lug at right muzzle marked with "(cross)/V" and "(cross)/O" marks in several places, "GW", "128" and "Vaud" at breech; front-hinged trapdoor breechblock with auto-extraction marked "(sunken cross)/G", "vruhausia" (?) and "sig" (altered this rifle to cartridge breechloader) with other marks inside; flat lockplate with military hammer, trigger guard with spur, 2 spring-retained bands (middle with sling swivel); oil-finished walnut 3/4 stock marked "Vaud/174" at left has swivel at toe. Double set triggers (for target or sharpshooter use). Originally mfg'd as a percussion muzzleloader, altered to cartridge breechloader late 1860s. Condition is near excellent retaining approx. 90% original barrel/bands blue, thinning to guard, gunmetal gray buttplate, case colors silvered to bright, sharp edges and markings. Stock is smooth and sound showing minimal marks, lovely grain, color and finish. Action is crisp, lightly-frosted bright bore shows fine rifling. Russet leather sling shows surface wear but is sound. Rare and Desirable Exhibition Grade Murata Single Shot Bolt Action Rifle

Rare and Desirable Exhibition Grade Murata Single Shot Bolt Action Rifle, "1" on bottom of extractor, 11mm Japanese Centerfire (.43-83), 30'' stepped round barrel, Japanese engraved silver-plated frame and trigger guard, horn pistol-grip and forend cap, course checkered oak stock, double set trigger, and early type Winchester vernier tang sight specially modified to fit Murata tang in a flush manner. Large aperture rear sight very similar to the Winchester Model 1876 sight, as well as hooded front bead sight. Bolt handle faintly engraved ''.43-83'' indicating Americanization of caliber. Rifle was purportedly displayed at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition and sold afterward as an exotic sporting arm from the Orient. (Paperwork now missing.) Many of these original prototype components fitted to this rifle were mfg'd by Winchester Repeating Arms of New Haven, Conn., under the supervision of William Hotchkiss, making for a very unique and important museum quality collector's piece. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 97% lightly thinning and mildly toning rust type blue to barrel. Frame shows even patination to silver-plated components. Stock retains sharp checkering with only mild flattening, and small repaired crack to left side top edge just beneath safety switch. Buttplate is an old period replacement that fits slightly large. Action remains crisp, set trigger works perfectly, bore is bright. Est.: $8,000-$10,000. (Antique)

Most Unusual Antique Probably European Breechloading Short Rifle, Unmarked as to Maker or Origin, NVSN, .577 cal., unmarked 24" round barrel has dovetailed blade front and folding-leaf rear sights; 1.25" breech section has percussion nipple-type fitting that may have been intended to house a firing pin, and a 4.25" "receiver" threaded into back end with a 1.25" opening for loading/extracting metallic cartridges (receiver was never completed, as it is open at rear). Unmarked flat lockplate with large military-style hammer. Steel fittings include trigger guard with long rear tang, buttplate, 2 clamping bands, nosecap. Lack of a ramrod indicates likely mfg'd as a cartridge arm. 3/4 stock of oil-finished walnut has small wrist area with inlet iron "keyhole" plate for an unknown attachment. Condition is good to very good as configured, the barrel retaining what appears to be much thinning and dulling original blue, balance of the metal reblued over occasional pitting. Breechloading Single-Shot Percussion Sporting Carbine, #13538, .60 cal., 24.25" round barrel with block-blade (blade missing) front sight and vacant rear dovetail, marked with "(crown)/GP", "25" and "(crown)/V" London proof marks at breech; flat lockplate marked "E.M. Reilly & Co." under bolster (has chain-retained lead nipple protector); receiver has flip-up thumb lever that moves sliding breechblock (marked "Green Bros./Patent/No. 99") rearward for loading a prepared cartridge with integral "pusher"; steel fittings comprise trigger guard marked "13538" at rear tang, shotgun-style buttplate, 2 clamping bands, nosecap, grooved/slotted ramrod (a likely replacement). All screw heads are engraved. Varnished walnut fullstock is checkered at forend and wrist, has sling stud at belly. Mfg'd ca. 1860s. Condition is very good retaining perhaps 15% original blue and generally smooth blue-brown gunmetal, showing occasional oxidation/light roughness, traces of case colors, sharp edges and markings. Stock is sound with sharp checkering, pleasing grain, color and finish. Breechblock moves smoothly and locks up tight. Action is crisp, bore shows overall moderate etching and very good rifling. Pieper/Patent" in circular panel at top. Mfg'd late 1880s-early '90s, in 5,000 qty. for the Mexican gov't. Mfg'd ca. 1854-70. Condition is near excellent retaining approx. 75% deep original barrel blue, 99% to cylinder, and softly-mottled case colors. M-1816 steel furniture incl. trigger guard with sling swivel, buttplate marked "US", 3 bands (middle with sling swivel, upper of the double-strap type having integral sight), button-tip ramrod. Oil-stained walnut fullstock has typical M-1816 low comb and 2 oval inspectors' cartouches opposite lock. Condition is good as configured, being generally smooth gray/brown gunmetal showing scattered discoloration, good edges and markings. Primer door and crude welding/finishing evident at breech, and touchhole areas are likely period gunsmith work. Stock is sound and smooth showing faint inspectors' marks, minor dings, 9" crudely replaced wood below muzzle, secure 2.5" hairline crack at left wrist, later finish. Scarce Civil War 2-Band Percussion Military Musketoon, by Henry Leman, NVSN, .58 cal., 33" round barrel, block-blade front and notched rear sights, integral nipple bolster with cleanout screw at semi-octagonal breech; flat lockplate is marked "H.E. Leman/Lancaster, PA" ahead of the hammer with its unique very tall cocking spur; brass fittings comprise 2-pc. trigger guard with front sling swivel, flat buttplate, serpentine sideplate, nosecap retaining the button-tip steel ramrod. Walnut 3/4 stock has 2 steel bands (top with sling swivel) having front retaining springs. Mfg'd early 1860s in small qty. Condition is good, the barrel having a lightly-etched dark brown patina (pitting at breech obscuring any original markings), the lock being smooth gunmetal with sharp markings, the brass with deep age toning. Stock is sound, the buttstock being mostly smooth, forestock showing dings and minor wood losses at bands, chipping at ramrod channel, thin varnish finish.
