This early walking stick/ cane gun dates to circa 1870-1885. The exact caliber chambering is unknown; however the rifled bore dimensions are consistent with a 410 gauge and a 44 Magnum casing will sit loosely in the chamber. Please note - this gun was designed for black powder cartridges. SPECS: Curved brass handle, 30" barrel, 36" overall length, brass muzzle cap/ cocking hook and grip mounted trigger lever. CONDITION: This cane gun is in good condition for its age with some surface wear, has a sharp bore and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: In the 18th and 19th centuries, walking sticks were common accessories for gentlemen, and the rise in street crime led to the development of concealed weapons like cane guns. Cartridge-type cane guns are usually fitted to fire large, low-pressure handgun cartridges or .410 bore shotgun shells. The weapon is effectively just a barrel with an integrated chamber, manual ejection, a detachable firing mechanism, a rudimentary grip, and in some cases primitive sights. Cane guns have an abiding place in spy culture; a famous example appeared in Ian Fleming's 1953 novel Casino Royale in which James Bond is threatened with one during his contest at the gaming table with Le Chiffre. SHIPPING - We offer free shipping anywhere within the continental US. All firearms must be sent to an FFL (or C&R if applicable) regardless of age or caliber. This includes antiques & muzzleloaders. PLEASE READ ALL TERMS BEFORE PARTICIPATING: There is no live crowd, no phone bidding, no left bids and we do not accept payment through the mail.
