Colt Model 1851 Navy

Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 593)      

.36 caliber, 7.5" octagonal barrel length, S/N 184089 (matching).  Top of barrel flat marked with single line Colt New York address.  Left side of the frame marked in 2 lines with "Colt" over "Patent."  Front blade sight.  Blue finish with brass back strap and trigger guard.  Smooth walnut grips. 

Condition: This firearm has been re-blued throughout and polished.  The cylinder has drag marks and there is some fine salt and pepper pitting on the hammer.  The cylinder is missing one of the percussion nipples.  The grips show wear with a chip to the stock on the left side.  The bore is heavily pitted.  Mechanically needs work.

U.S. Remington New Model Army Revolver

Lot # 2 (Sale Order: 2 of 593)      

.44 caliber, 8" octagonal barrel, S/N 86766.  Cleaned finish with wood grips.  Top of barrel marked with three-line Remington address and model.  Barrel, loading lever, frame, and triggerguard all show inspector markings.  Left grip marked with weak cartouche.

Condition: Fair.  Cleaned finish show some isolated sections of darkening.  Frame has dents and marks from use.  Grips are fairly worn with weak cartouche.  Markings are weak but legible.  Mechanically functional.  Bore is fair; slightly shiny with some orange rust, but with good rifling showing fairly sharp lands.

U.S. Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver

Lot # 3 (Sale Order: 3 of 593)      

.44 caliber, 8" round barrel, S/N 65787 (Ca. 1862).  Cleaned finish with walnut grips.  Blade front sight.  Visible numbers matching.  Top of barrel marked with one-line "New-York U.S. America" address.  Left side of frame has two-line patent marking.  Right grip has weak cartouche.  Barrel, backstrap, cylinder, and trigger guard all show inspector markings.  

Condition: Fair.  Cleaned finish has some darkening to plumb on barrel and loading lever.  Frame screws have some marring.  Markings are legible but faint.  Action does not function normally.  Bore is fair; dark brown with some pitting.  Rifling has moderate wear but still has visible lands and grooves.

.44 caliber, 8" barrel, S/N 38106 (Ca. 1862).  Visible numbers matching.  Cleaned finish with replacement wood grips.  Blade front sight.  Top of barrel marked with one-line "NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" address.  Left side of frame marked with two-line patent.  Cylinder, trigger guard, and back strap show inspector markings.  Other markings worn away by cleaning.

Condition: Fair.  Finish has an overall gray coloration with some isolated darkening.  Grips show very little wear.  Remaining markings are weak but legible.  Mechanically functional.  Bore is fair to good; show some pitting with some scratches.  Rifling shows some wear with rounded edges.

Cased Reproduction Colt Navy Revolver by Uberti

Lot # 5 (Sale Order: 5 of 593)      

.36 caliber, 7.5" octagonal barrel, S/N 3172.  Blued barrel and cylinder with case hardened frame and loading lever.  Brass front and back strap with plain grips.  Top and left of barrel marked with reproduction markings.  Right side of frame marked with Italian proofs.  Bottom of grip marked with 1960 manufacture date.  Comes in case with bullet mold, cleaning rod and key.  

Condition: Very good.  Minor wear to finish with visible case hardening with some tarnishing of brass.  Bore is good, some storage grime with visible rifling.  Could clean to better.

Colt Single Action Artillery Revolver

Lot # 8 (Sale Order: 8 of 593)      

.45 caliber, 5.5" barrel length, S/N 116413.  Left side of the frame marked in 3 lines with patent dates next to "US".  Front blade sight and 6-shot fluted cylinder.  Blue finish with smooth walnut grips.  

Condition: This firearm has been re-blued with faint markings.  Most of the wear to the finish is on the muzzle and edges.  The finish on the barrel and cylinder are lightly fading.  The grips are replaced but good overall with minor nicks and dings.  The bore is good with some light pitting.  Mechanically good.

US Artillery Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Holster

Lot # 9 (Sale Order: 9 of 593)      

.45 caliber, 5" barrel, S/N 50512 (Ca. 1879).  All three major numbers mismatched.  Reblued finish with replaced wood grips.  Frame above serial number marked with "H.N." inspector markings.  Triggerguard shows addition sub-inspector stamp.  Top of barrel marked with two-line Hartford Colt address.  Left side of barrel marked with caliber.  Left side of frame marked with three-line 1879, 72, and 75 patent dates.  Left side of frame also marked with "US" markings above triggerguard.  Includes left-handed leather holster with novelty "Brothel Inspector" badge.

Condition: Fair.  Light wear to reblued finish, which covered some old pitting.  Some very light rust spotting on barrel.  Rebluing has obscured many of the markings, leaving them legible with effort.  Grips are free of cracking and other damage.  Bore is fair with some pitting.  Rifling shows some moderate wear with rounded lands.

Aston U.S. Model 1842 Percussion Pistol

Lot # 10 (Sale Order: 10 of 593)      

.58 caliber, 8.5" round barrel, no S/N.  Brass barrel band with integral sideplate, brass backstrap with integral butt cap.  Brass blade front sight.  Replaced rammer.  Left side of stock shows worn cartouches.  Lockplate marked "US/H.ASTON" forward of lockplate.  Rear of lockplate marked "MIDDtn/CONN./1847".  Additional inspector markings on backstrap and triggerguard.   

Condition: Poor.  Barrel finish has taken on a dark gunmetal coloration with some scattered pitting.  Brass barrel band has verdigris throughout.  Brass parts have a dull luster.  Stock numerous marks from handling and use, including a 1" crack rear of sideplate.  Bore is fair; dark overall with some pitting.  Could clean to better.

6" spearpoint blade with silver cutlery handle.  Inscribed on one side "NEVER DRAW ME WITHOUT REASON/NOR SHEATHE ME WITHOUT HONOR".   Flanked by broad scrolls.  Ricasso marked "JAMESON." Brass mounted leather scabbard with decorative tooling.



Condition: Good.  Blade is bright shows some scattered oxidation with some fading of inscription.  No damage to cutting edge.  Ricasso stamp legible with effort.  Grip and guard have a dull luster.  Scabbard is in good condition with a single tear on one side.

Half Stock Plains Rifle, with Dave Taylor Barrel

Lot # 18 (Sale Order: 18 of 593)      

.45 caliber. 33.75" octagonal barrel, no S/N.  Bright barrel with tiger-stripe stock featuring carved cheek piece.  Globe front sight with Lyman aperture rear sight.  Top of barrel marked "FOR/JACK HEDDEN/BY J.E.G" surrounded by scrollwork.  Left side of barrel marked "BARREL BY DAVE R. TAYLOR/LITTLE HOCKING, OHIO."  Unique case hardened drum-type lock, with assembly number matching stock.

Condition: Good.  barrel is mostly bright with  a light salt and pepper patina increasing to a light brown towards breech.  Lock case hardening is bright.  Stock has only minor dents and marks, with stable crack on both sides of toe.  Bore is good to very good; bright with some very light scratches and good definition to rifling.

.36 caliber, 39" octagonal barrel, no S/N.  Striped stock with brass nose cap, ramrod pipes, side plate, triggerguard, patch box, and butt plate.  German silver lozenges on barrel, thumb piece, and cheek piece.  Blade front sight with v-notch block rear sight and double triggers.  Barrel appear to be marked "T.W."  Lockplate marked "R & W.C. BIDDLE & Co/PHILADELPHIA."  

Condition: Fair.  Barrel has an overall smooth plump patina, with  with brass parts taking on a dull luster.  Some pitting near cone.  Lockplate has darkening with worn markings.  Hammer is marred from use.  Stock has some blemishes consistent with age as well as some missing wood around lockplate.  Bore is good; some old pitting with moderate wear to rifling.

Condition: Good.  Some wear to finish on sharp edges, with finish showing a gray-green color in areas of wear.  Stock has minor blemishes.  Bore good; some powder fouling present, could clean to better.  Rifling has visible lands and grooves.

Approx. 5.5mm and 9mm barrels, 23.75" barrels, no S/N.  Reblued finish with plain forend, checkered grip, and raised cheek piece.  Blade front sight with matted rib and U-notch block rear sight.  Left and right sides of barrels marked with powder loads.  Right side of frame marked with Belgian proofs.  Frame and triggerguard engraved with swirls.  Sling swivels on toe of stock and mid-barrel.  



Condition: Fair to good.  Some wear to finish on barrels with light rust frosting.  Frame has a gray patina with some patches of dark gray.  Stock has two stable cracks on left side of grip, one running along to grain of checkering.  Bores are fair; some pitting and scratching with moderate darkening and wear to rifling.
