Lot includes one 7.5" copper and one 7.75" zinc flask. Zinc flask depicts dog in an outdoor scene on both sides. Brass spout marked with 55, 60, 65, and 70 increments. Copper flask shows an outdoor scene with dog and game bird on both sides. No discernible markings.



Condition: Fair to good. Some darkening of zinc. and brass taking on a bronzing. Springs functional.

Civil War U.S. Issue Signal Corps Copper Fuel Canteen

Lot # 27 (Sale Order: 27 of 413)      

9.5" diameter, 3" spout with brass stopper and remnants of chain. Reinforced seam with four sling retaining straps. Leather strap with 2.5" x 1.75" japanned buckle.



Condition: Good condition. Verdigris on seams and some corrosion on faces. Broken strap has some finish loss and flaking on buckle. Several dents on surface.

Shot pouch marked with two tooled rings, one on each side. Brass spout marked 1-1/2 to 1-1/4 along with "SYKES." No eyelets.



Condition: Good condition. Some finish wear to leather present. Brass fittings have a dark to dull luster with some light bronzing. Springs functional.

.45-70 caliber, 32" barrel, S/N 232481. Blued finish. Blade front sight with Buckhorn rear sight with range markings on left side with "R" marking. Typical proof marks found on left side of barrel. Trap door marked "U.S. Model 1873". Left side of wrist marked with cartouche. Lockplate marked "U.S./SPRINGFIELD." Front barrel band has stacking swivel and piece includes button-tip bayonet with slot. Unmarked leather sling with illegible handwriting on stock side.



Condition: Good condition. Barrel has an overall dark coloration with some dull luster left on trap door and lockplate. Stock has some blemishes consistent with age. Bore good.

U.S. Model 1861 Naval Cutlass

26" single edged blade with 19.5" median fuller. 32.5" overall. Brass guard with leather-wrapped grip. Leather scabbard with brass frog stud and copper rivets. Right ricasso marked "1862" with left ricasso marked "AMES MFgC/CHICOPEE/MASS" on scroll. Underside of guard marked "5M/879." Scabbard marked "20M/497" above frog stud.



Condition: Fair to good condition. Blade has an overall gunmetal gray coloration with with some darkening and light rust near edge. Guard has a dull luster with some spots of bronze and tarnish. Minor dents on guard. Grip does not have any of the original wire wrapping but leather is still intact. Scabbard rivets has some verdigris and tarnish with some finish loss overall. Bottom of scabbard has a hole and middle has been repaired with tape.

20" spear point blade with 13" median fuller and 25" overall length. Brass guard with ribbed brass grip. Leather scabbard with brass throat and tip. No visible markings on blade, guard, grip, or scabbard.



Condition: Very good condition. Blade is mostly bright with some darkening due to age. No chips, cracks, or other major damage to blade. Guard and grip have a developing mustard patina with a bright luster. Some finish loss on scabbard with brass mountings showing the same qualities as the grip.

Model 1898 Springfield Krag Carbine

.30-40, 22" barrel, S/N 129102. Blued finish, walnut stock. Receiver marked US over MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 129102. Clear JSA cartouche, dated 1898 at wrist, Circle-P proof behind triggerguard. "C" marked carbine rear sight, with correct sight protecting barrel band. Sling bar and ring, 3-piece cleaning rod in butt trap.



Condition: Very good. Retains traces of blue on the barrel, the rest a smoky gray patina. Metal mostly smooth with some scattered surface oxidation and minor roughness. Mechanically functional, good bore with strong rifling that needs cleaning. Stock solid and crisp with clear cartouche and inspection marks.

**Winchester Model 02A Rifle

.22 S.L. & L.R. caliber, 20.75" barrel, no S/N. Marked on the barrel Model 02A, blue finish with walnut stock. Very rare in both S.L. and L.R. caliber.

Condition: Very good condition. Blade is mostly bright with some marks from use. Etching on blade clear. Pommel, guard, and grip in good condition with no major cracks or chips. Scabbard has some finish wear on edges and verdigris around brass fittings.

Also includes U.S. Model 1860 Field and Staff Officer's Sword by Bent and Sons. 30" spear point blade with an overall length of 35.5" Brass guard with wire-wrapped leather grip. Right ricasso marked with Bent and Sons trademark. Plated blade etched with "US", American eagle and draped flag motifs. Includes steel scabbard with brass mounds.




Condition: Fair condition overall. Artillery sword has a bark overall patina with pitting near ricasso. No marks present and some loss of rayskin grip. Officer's sword has some peeling of blade finish with near total loss of grip material, exposing wood.

Condition: Fair condition. Trowel bayonet retains some if its blue finish on handle with some pitting. Wooden plug shows some wear consistent with age. Blade overall has a light gunmetal coloration with some darkening and staining. Bolo has many marks due to re-sharpening and cleaning of blade. Some stains on scabbard with darkening on grip.

Elliot's Patent Medical Saddle Bags ca. 1870

Lot # 48 (Sale Order: 48 of 413)      

A pair of black leather box doctor's saddle bags with connecting yoke, edges and flaps tooled and decoratively stitched, embossed "ELLIOT'S PATENT / GRANTED JAN. 18, 1870 / A.A. MELLIER / ST. LOUIS, MO. / SOLE PROPRIETOR" in an oval. The interior of each bag is divided into two tin-lined compartments, three with wood and leather bottle , the bottom halves folding out. An 1878 publication identifies Mellier as the manufacturer of both medicines and this model of saddle bag.

Condition: Good. Moderate age and service wear.
