Lg. framed signed serigraph art print Le Grand Cirque by Guillaume A. Azoulay, #ed 52/140

Lot # 52

Large 1990 framed signed / numbered serigraph art print Le Grand Cirque by Guillaume A. Azoulay, 52/140, approx 43 x 36 in.

GUILLAUME AZOULAY

Guillaume Azoulay, a self-taught artist, was born in Casablanca, Morocco in 1949. His parents settled in Paris when Azoulay was ten and by the age of thirteen, he was sketching and selling his drawings on the streets and planning his career as an artist. As Azoulay met people from various parts of the world, his interest in traveling grew, and when he was fourteen he left home and hitchhiked across Europe and the Middle East. His desire to see and be part of the life, history and beauty of the world took him from Copenhagen to Rome, from Lisbon to Jerusalem. Azoulay made the world his university.

The brilliance of Azoulay?s art centers on his ability to convey the purity of line to create strong illusions of fluid motion and life. Line is the key element of design in Azoulay?s artwork. It is through his lines that Azoulay creates balance, harmony, contrast, and the illusion of depth and movement in each one of his compositions.

Guillaume Azoulay is self-taught, imminently and eminently motivated. His art, far from quotidian, transcends the faddish and the pretentious. His style is so unique that it is instantly recognized, unmistakably so. The variety of approaches he conceives makes his journey distinct.

Horses, dancers and figures are treated as graphic landscapes. Hooves, heads, manes, limbs, are so many hills and valleys. Shaded glades are evoked by the manipulation of parallel lines theatrically meandering, running close at times then separating to mimic the topography of some lost geography.

His colors are the rainbow-like refraction of light after a downpour. They pick up the threads of his linear tale and weave them into a solid cloth. His portraits are obviously another cherished venue, exuding a compelling truth and yet so patently his in style and concept.

Internationally appreciated and collected, his work adds an important dimension to any art collection. Accolades and decades of fame notwithstanding, Guillaume Azoulay still refers to himself as an "artisan.?

Signed / numbered art print THE GATHERING by Ann Militich-Warder, #ed 87/500

Lot # 57

Unframed signed / numbered art print THE GATHERING by Ann Militich-Warder, # ed 87/500, approx 23 x 13 in.

Ann works primarily in watercolors and collage - often pasting elements onto her paintings. The use of collage adds a three dimensional effect on many of her paintings and accomplishes something else important to her: "It forces the viewer?s eye to look at different areas of the painting."
Inspired by the landscape and beauty of Alaska, nature dominates her paintings. Ann takes a more abstract approach as she strives to capture the feeling of a place, not the place itself.

Ann has won numerous awards and considerable recognition including an exhibit at Seattle's prestigious Charles & Emma Frye Art Museum.

Richard Evans Younger is one of the four ?Master Wildlife Artists? of the 1960s-1970s featured in this FHG Collection Web site catalog. The artwork includes four bird paintings and five animal pieces. Richard is one of America?s most prolific wildlife artists. His work is currently displayed around the world in private, business and government collections. Limited-edition productions of his paintings are sought by collectors. In fact, when limited-editions of his paintings were first published in Europe in the late ?60s, it was considered to be the foundation for the limited-edition print market that established quickly in America and continues to flourish today. Richard attended the Kansas City Art Institute and later returned to Missouri to receive an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts. He was commissioned by the late Julius Fleischmann to research and paint his collection of waterfowl. Later, his paintings were featured in McClane?s New Standard Fishing Encyclopedia, earning him the title ?Audubon of Fish.? More of Richard?s paintings were used in the Field Guide to Fresh Water Fish of North America, Field Guide to Salt Water Fish of North America and Field & Stream?s International Fishing Guide; and, he collaborated with botanist Julia Morton on the Golden Book, Exotic Plants, in which he did watercolor paintings of the plants and flowers. Recently, Richard?s work was featured in an important new art book, Wildlife Art, for Quarry Books. He currently resides in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. Lg. signed art print of buffalo STORMY by Nancy Glazier, #ed 665/1200

Lot # 68

Lg. unframed Buffalo signed / numbered art print STORMY by Nancy Glazier, #ed 665/1200, approx 26 x 40 in.

Nancy Glazier is passionate about her art and the subject of her art. This passion is evident in the way she paints and the way she lives ? they are inseparable.

Surrounded by mountain beauty and the animals the artist loves to paint, Glazier says, ?I feel a kinship with the animal that grows as the painting progresses. There is a powerful chemistry at work. People ask me, ?Which is your favorite animal to paint?? I can tell you it is always the very animal I am painting at the time." For Glazier, it is ??a warm, living, breathing process that brings me back again and again to the easel. It is my ultimate reward.?

Many of the artist?s admirers and collectors consider Glazier to be an extraordinary artist whose paintings seem ?alive.? For her, this is warm praise, because she desires to share what she experiences through her paintings. She hopes the viewer, too, will feel the warmth of the sun or the crisp chill of winter, smell the sage and dust, or hear the bellow of the bison.

Glazier knew she wanted to be an artist from early childhood. In her teens, she lived in Wyoming where she immersed herself in the rugged, western terrain. There she was mentored and taught by artist Adolph Spohr, who gave her private instruction and taught her how a professional uses paint and brush?how to observe and self-correct. The artist?s style evolved over time. After seeing a dramatic photograph of a grizzly, she was awakened to a desire to paint animals ?close up and hair-by-hair.? The artist has taken hands-on anatomy classes that enable her to paint an amazingly accurate portrait of an animal from its bone structure to muscles to hair, bringing it life on her canvas.

The artist enjoys much success as one of today?s most talented wildlife painters. Her original works are represented by one of America?s leading galleries. Her paintings have been featured at prestigious shows throughout the country, and two of her works hang in the Museum of Church History and Art in Salt Lake City.

Glazier and her husband reside in an idyllic setting in Nevada where a spacious studio allows her to create her extraordinary paintings and continue her journey of discovery to capture ?the whole picture.?

Vintage signed etching of BVRG FORCHTENSTEIN by Josef Eidenberger, approx 14 x 19 in.

Lot # 73

Vintage signed etching of BVRG FORCHTENSTEIN by Josef Eidenberger, approx 14 x 19 in.

Josef Eidenberger was Born on May 30, 1899 in the little town of Goisern, Austria. He began his artistic career as a landscape painter, showing great perception for the mood of the local countryside. In 1923 he enrolled in the famed Graphic Academy of Art in Vienna and studied under Professor Alfred Cossman.

After learning copper engraving, Eidenberger soon turned to etching as his medium. His specialized studies and love for subtle color led him to the complicated process of color etching. Greatly influenced by the Austrian etch-craftman Luigi Kasimir, Eidenberger improved his technique from plate to plate.

His eye for detail and meticulous execution of each plate brought him many commissions from city officials and members of the business communities throughout Europe, especially in Austria and Germany. In 1973 after visiting the United States for the first time he created a series of California etchings, adding a new dimension to his exquisite European scenes. After visiting the United States for the first time in 1973 he created a series of California etchings. In 1974 he was commissioned to do a series of color etchings of Williamsburg, Virginia in commemoration of the United States Bicentennial celebration. During his travels throughout the U.S. in the fall of the same year he was once again commissioned to do etchings of the Utah State Capitol in Salt Lake City and scenes of the East and West Coast.

In December of 1977, the Austrian government bestowed upon Mr. Eidenberger, the honorary title of "Professor of the Arts" in appreciation for his contribution to the advancement of fine art. His work can be found in galleries and print collections throughout the world. Exhibitions of his work and his contributions to the art world are literally too numerous to mention.

Josef Eidenberger died in Niederwaldkirchen, Austria on July 21, 1991 at the age of 92. His work continued to be printed by his estate after his death
