Lot # 751

The pin measures 1.25? square and has a needle pin and clutch keeper on the reverse. The "Citie of Henricus", also known as Henricopolis or Henrico Town or Henrico, was a city founded by Sir Thomas Dale in 1611 as an alternative to the swampy and dangerous area around Jamestown Settlement, Virginia. It was named for Prince Henry, the eldest son of King James I. Henricus was the second successful English city in the New World and was located on the James River, just a few miles southeast of the modern city of Richmond, Virginia, but at the time, one of the westernmost outlying developments from the Colony of Virginia's fortified capital at Jamestown. This city is near where Pocahontas grew up among the Appomattoc tribe, where she converted to Christianity, and where she and John Rolfe fell in love, and married in 1614, living together across the river at the Varina Farms Plantation. There, a son, Thomas Rolfe, named after Sir Thomas Dale, the Virginia Colony Governor, was born to the couple. Condition is NEW on card. >

Lot # 752

ECSG IICIT Deluxe Enamel Tie Pin Electronic Connector Institute Nice ECGS enamel tie pin and chained bar. First called ?Electronic Connector Study Group?, now renamed IICIT...........International Institute of Connector & Interconnection Tech. Nearly half a century ago, a group called the Electronic Connector Study Group, made up of engineers, suppliers, and reliability personnel, were working to instill rigor and excellence in the interconnect portion of electronic and optical systems. That group, originating in the Delaware Valley, transitioned into the IICIT, a mainstream trade association with interconnect technology and connectors as its primary charter. As companies downsized, outsourced, and re-engineered themselves into more profitable entities in a worldwide competition that is the manufacturing business of today, the components engineer who was the mainstream of IICIT has become an endangered species. Inexperienced engineers entering the market today are encountering the same problems that were surmounted years ago. Condition is excellent to NEW.

1920 era CADET PHOTOGRAPH ST. JOHNS MILITARY ACADEMY Nice circa 1920s photograph of a military Cadet

1920 era CADET PHOTOGRAPH ST. JOHNS MILITARY ACADEMY Nice circa 1920s photograph of a military Cadet

Lot # 754

1920 era CADET PHOTOGRAPH ST. JOHNS MILITARY ACADEMY Nice circa 1920s photograph of a military Cadet from St. John?s Military Academy. The Cadet is in Parade gray tunic with bullet-ball buttons. The entire hard card mount measures 5.75 ? by 9.75?, the cadet image is 3.875? by 5.875?. Handwritten in ink across the top corner is: To Charlie, and across the bottom corner Sincerely ?Swede?. The old ink inscriptions/signatures show fading. St. John's Military Academy was founded in 1884 in Delafield, Wisconsin, by Dr. Sidney T. Smythe, whose vision and principles in educating young men was applied in a program of physical, moral and religious education that trained student character as well as mind. The principles are echoed in the Academy's motto, "Work Hard, Play Hard, Pray Hard." Smythe believed that the way to get the most out of a boy is to challenge him and to make him reach just a little farther than he had supposed his arms could stretch. From its small beginnings, the Academy grew steadily as it became recognized as one of the leading schools of its kind in the nation. In 1995, St. John's Military Academy, and Northwestern Military & Naval Academy joined to become St. John's Northwestern Military Academy, located at the St. John's 110-acre campus in Delafield. Though the emphasis has shifted away from the military arts of an earlier day, the discipline, self-confidence, loyalty and camaraderie remain just as strong today. Shaped by each school's strong history, common goals and similar philosophies, the Academy continues its long tradition of education and leadership with honor. Condition is very good. The image is clear. The outer perimeter shows wear, age, creases and thumb-tac holes.
