WWII German M-42 Helmet w/Splinter Camo Cover

Lot # 2015 (Sale Order: 14 of 582)

This helmet and cover came together but we will break down the helmet first and then the cover. The M-42 helmet is stamped faintly "hKP" and what looks like "E64" is very...more hard to read. With "503" below. The exterior is standard late war finish with multiple traces of dark red paint and shows lots of wear. The leather liner is "56" ink stamped and with more traces of red paint on liner front edge. The leather is not dried out and has all fingers and drawstring. The chinstrap is missing the male strap and buckle strap is black with brown and is very worn. The cover has been on the helmet for a long time and has two small holes to rear. The drawstring is 1/4" thickness with x-pattern weaved pattern. The sewn construction is machine done with somewhat imperfect lines of double stitching sewn one line at a time. The foliage strips are all single line stitched all the way around. The cover has some stains and has a dusty, dirty feel to entire cover. Please ask for more pictures if needed.
