Extremely Rare Framed *German WWII SS Document from "Death Doctor" sent to Dr. Rascher (RXX)

Lot # 6

An Extremely Rare Framed *German WWII SS Document from Famous "Death Doctor" sent to Dr. Rascher in very good condition. The document has nice patina like coloring from a...morege with very little to no cosmetic wear. All letters and markings are extremely prominent and legible. This letter is a signed from the Berlin SS/Gestapo Headquarters to SS 2nd Lieutenant Dr. Rascher who was at the time involved in Dachau. The letter is stating the issued approval for human experiments to be conducted in the infamous concentration camp Dachau by Dr. Rascher and SS military health officers. Sigmund Rascher (12 February 1909 – 26 April 1945) was a German Schutzstaffel (SS) doctor. He conducted deadly experiments on humans pertaining to high altitude, freezing and blood coagulation under the patronage of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler, to whom his wife Karoline "Nini" Diehl had direct connections. When police investigations uncovered that the couple had defrauded the public with their supernatural fertility by 'hiring' and kidnapping babies, she and Rascher were arrested in April 1944. He was accused of financial irregularities, murder of his former lab assistant, and scientific fraud, and brought to Buchenwald and Dachau concentration camps before being executed. After his death, the Nuremberg Trials judged his experiments as inhumane and criminal. In 1939, Rascher transferred to the SS with the rank of Private. That same year, Rascher denounced his father, and was conscripted into the Luftwaffe. A relationship with and eventual marriage to former singer Karoline "Nini" Diehl gained him direct access to Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler. Rascher's connection with Himmler gave him immense influence, even over his superiors. A week after first meeting Himmler, Rascher presented a paper, "report on the development and solution to some of the Reich Fuehrer's assigned tasks during a discussion held on April 24, 1939". Rascher became involved in testing a plant extract as a cancer treatment. Kurt Blome, deputy of the Reich Health Leader and Plenipotentiary for cancer Research in the Reich Research Council, favored testing the extract on rodents but Rascher insisted on using human test subjects. Himmler took Rascher's side, and a Human Cancer Testing Station was established at Dachau. The atrocities conducted by Dr. Rascher and his assigned personnel under his command were attributed with high altitude, freezing, and blood coagulation human experiments that brutalized and subsequentially ended in murder for the furtherment of SS medical research. Sigmund remained in Buchenwald following his arrest in 1944, until the camp's evacuation in April 1945. He and other prisoners were then taken to Dachau, where he was shot on 26 April 1945, three days before the camp was liberated by American troops. The letter reads as follows: SS 2nd Lieutenant Dr. Rascher Berlin SW/68, den 4.12.1941 SS and Gestapo Headquarters "I laid your letter of 24.11.1941 before the RF-SS and Chief of the German Police (Himmler). The Reich Leader SS agrees the experiments authorized previously by him be carried out on concentration camp prisoners in Dachau. The supervisor of the camp has been directed to grant permission to enter the camp for the time being to military health officers taking part in the camp for the experiments. (German to English Translation) The translation is printed and included with the letter. US Navy Style MK V Dive Helmet with Stand Certified Display Piece by Wenoka Seastyle (HD2)

Lot # 10

US Navy Style MK V Dive Helmet with Stand Certified Display Piece by Wenoka Seastyle in very good condition. The Helmet sports good glass with no cracking and minor wear ...moreto the copper plating or brass finishings. The stand is in good condition and maintains nice structural integrity. One of the best- and best-known diving helmets in the world is the US Navy Mark V. Until about 1912 there was hardly any serious (deep) diving activity in the US Navy. Commercial Morse and Schrader helmets were used. US Navy gunner George D. Stillson wrote a letter to the Bureau of Construction and Repair (now the Bureau of Ships) in which he complained about the Navy's equipment and diving techniques. He suggested to check the practicability of Haldane's stage method of decompression and to improve the standard Navy diving gear to permit deeper dives. The Bureau gave Stillson the assignment. It took several years and the help of a team of military and commercial diving experts to complete the heavy task. The design of the new diving helmet was based on commercial Morse and Schrader helmets of that time and the team also tested Siebe and Draeger equipment. Extensive tests were conducted in diving tanks ashore and later from the U.S.S. Walke in Long Island Sound. This lineage of the MK V 's humble beginnings to full time support of Naval Divers has stoked a tradition among the diving community that ties directly with the MK V. Shipping for this item will be between 150 to 175 dollars. Local pickup is highly encouraged. The height measures 19 1/2".
