Item Details
SERIAL NUMBER: NSN DESIGN: This rifle musket has a Springfield lock dated 1864. The 40” barrel is rifled. Please note: this piece would likely make a good shooter or reenactor’s piece but it has been worked over. The barrel has been cut 1-1/2” from the rear and the breech has been replaced; hence the rear sight is farther to the rear than it was when it left the arsenal. Also a threaded hole has been drilled into the barrel about 2” ahead of the rear sight. The stock shows much less use than the metal and is likely a replacement. No touch marks or proofs at rear of barrel or on the wood. This is being sold as a rebuilt piece. MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Patina barrel. Hardwood stock. CONDITION: Good. INVENTORY NO./CATEGORY: 5645/NRR ESTIMATE: $300-$400
