Fine original 17th century inlaid Wheelock rifle signed “Elias Schintzel A Berlin”. Measures 40 ½” overall with a 28 ½” barrel of .70 caliber smoothbore. Intricate bore inlay in game scenes with dot and scroll borders. Quality engraving and metal work. Very well-known and high grade German maker (see Shumway-Jaegar rifles). Near fine original condition with 98% plus original inlay intact. A terrific gun suitable for finest collection or museum. Interior lock parts intact with interior period spanner.
