Item Details
Very nice early example. Bright steel blade still retains most of the original factory cross graining. Attributed to the scarce maker of "KRONECK/ERNST ERICH WITTE, SOLINGEN" This maker had a very lightly etched maker mark or in more uncommon cases, no evidence of a maker etched blade. Original pebbled leather cross guard/scabbard throat washer is present. Nickel/chrome plated metal fittings exhibit crisp detail with pebbling evident in the swastika circle. The plated pommel cap exhibits minor finish loss and a few stress lines. The 1st pattern metal/enamel RLB starburst device exhibits minor enamel loss. Ebony finish pearwood grip with nearly 100% original finish remaining. Steel magnetic scabbard with early painted/anodized finish is dent free. Lower heavy nickel/chrome plated scabbard fitting with 2 retaining screws is also dent free. The hanger ring exhibits verdigris and does not swivel but should be an easy fix with oil. Typical quality construction by this not common maker. We have shown pictures of this dagger to several collectors/experts knowledgeable in the field of dagger collecting and all thumbs up!
