Sometime between 1908 and 1910, this microscope was upgraded in-laboratory with a top-of-the-line, high-precision dual-axis (X-Y coordinate) mechanical stage attachment imported from Carl Zeiss Jena in Germany. This unique hybrid configuration represents a magnificent snapshot of turn-of-the-century transatlantic scientific collaboration. The Technical Specifications and Markings section highlights a beautifully preserved instrument featuring a core frame manufactured by the Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. in Rochester, New York, paired with a distinct distributor engraving from Chas.
