.300 savage caliber, 22" tapered round barrel, S/N11380000.  Presented by the Savage Factory to Joseph V. Falcon in December of 1967. The Savage Factory spared no pains to create the finest Savage rifle of the latter half of the 20th Century. The lustrous blued barrel is austere and not engraved contrasting sharply with the incredibly elaborate bright steel frame. The frame is a work of art rivaling the work of masters such as the Brown brothers, Linton McKenzie, or Creative Art in Italy. Entirely covered with deep relief engraving of leafy foliate scrolls the frame is a masterpiece. The underside featured an oval reserve with a superbly executed gold inlay of the Savage Native American in full headdress. The fletching on each feather is finely delineated. Framed within the scrolls under the gold Savage logo is the presentation itself in relief in four lines. ?JOSEPH V. FALCON FROM HIS FRIENDS AT SAVAGE ARMS DECEMBER 1967?. The serial number 1138000 is on a relief panel. The right side of the frame features a large gold inlaid panther or mountain lion stalking through a wooded landscape within the scrolling foliage. The left side is adorned with a large elk in a wooded landscape with evergreen trees framed by scrolling foliage. The lever of bright steel is engraved ensuite with the frame and the trigger and safety are bright gold. The buttplate bears the Savage logo. The highly figured finest quality pistol gip walnut stock and fore-end are carved and checkered reminiscent of a Grade 1 Winchester lever action. All screws are engraved, This fantastic one of a kind rifle remains in mint condition retaining nearly all original Savage factory finishes on both metal and wood. This splendid work of art lever action rifle will be the centerpiece of any Savage collection and would add luster to any collection of the finest, ultra deluxe vintage American long guns.
