Item Description: Translate description
This .70 bore musket was owned by Benjamin Lord (1770-1843), Rutland VT silversmith and Captain of the local militia. The side plate on the left engraved "BENj LORD / RUTLAND". The lock marked ahead of the hammer "MILLBURY" over 1814, made by Elijah and Asa Waters & Nathaniel Whitmore of Sutton, Massachusetts. Lord worked as a silversmith in Rutland circa 1797 - 1830, after which he moved to Athens, Georgia, where he eventually passed away. Mechanically fine and in overall good condition for it's age and experience, with a socket bayonet. Antique
