Sn: 12423. Belgian Brevette Model 1851 revolver in .36 Cal. percussion. The consigner states he purchased this revolver in Jordan who stated his Grandfather carried it with the Ottoman army , this would be during the period of the "Modern Ottoman Empire (1861-1922) The rear of the cylinder is marked with a Liege "E/LG with star proof mark, above it is a small Crown over H+ proof, the same proof is on the right barrel over the wedge and the right frame. There are six Crown in Triangle proof marks on the cylinder between the nipples, we could not find any reference to these, not Belgian, most likely European. Other markings include "Address Col. Saml Colt New York U.S. America" on the top flat of the barrel, very faint "Colts Patent" and the naval battle scene roll stamped on the cylinder. 7.5 octagon barrel, blade front sight, one piece wood grips. Single-Action, 6-shot, Many of these revolvers were sold to the Confederate Navy during the Civil War. Action is crisp/tight. Grips are very good, Bore is dark/rough Metal finish has turned a molted gray/brown patina with scattered areas of light pin-prick pitting. Markings are clear. Come with a hand made Slim Jim style flap holster with belt loop. Brown leather construction. The enclosure strap is decorated with brass ornaments including a star inside a crescent, below a heart shaped ornament and the stud is brass, round. All have Arabic designs with nice old patina. No toe plug as the barrel sticks out about 3/4". Has seen hard use, overall good sound, stitching intact, a couple od small holes in the back with wear to the revolver parts. A perfect fit, have been together a long time. Hammer does not stay cocked. A very interesting revolver, worthy of further research.NRA Condition-Very Good as Antique Firearm.
