This exceptional early halberd dates to approximately 1500–1520 and exemplifies the transitional martial craftsmanship of late medieval Europe. The head features a prominent sword-shaped spike with a strong medial ridge and remnants of original decorative elements still visible. Take a look at the images to see the remnants of the unique designs on the blade! A beautiful piece ready for display and up for bid at Treasure Trove Auctions! Though precise national classification is often difficult, this style closely resembles halberds illustrated in the period drawings and engravings of Albrecht Dürer—offering rare visual corroboration of this form in active use. Halberds were among the most versatile and feared weapons on the battlefield, combining the functions of spear, axe, and hook. Developed in Switzerland and rapidly adopted throughout Western Europe, the halberd became a mainstay in both urban militias and noble armories. By the early 16th century, the weapon had reached peak functional and aesthetic refinement. This example, with its distinctive blade shape and visual lineage to period iconography, stands as a striking testament to that evolution. Provenance: From a German noble's armory collection. Acquired from noted arms and armor expert Andrew Garcia. Length:
