An original pair of Tower Bean’s Pattern handcuffs, patented May 2, 1899. These early law enforcement restraints measure approximately 10 1/8" across from cuff to cuff and reflect the robust utilitarian design typical of turn-of-the-century American police gear. This example features solid iron construction with its original patina and shows only light wear consistent with age and use. No key is included. This type of restraint was commonly issued to U.S. lawmen and corrections officers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, prized for its durability and security. Examples with patent markings are particularly collectible among antique handcuff and Wild West ephemera enthusiasts.
