This World War IIThis World War II German Sniper's Goblet is a rare and historically charged commemorative piece, likely created for an elite marksman or participant in a divisional sharpshooting competition. The goblet features finely engraved insignia on both sides, one being the highly coveted Sniper Badge and year 1944, while the other is the emblem of the 1st SS Panzer Division Liebstandarte SS Adolf Hitler, each strongly suggestive of high-level affiliation and recognition within the Waffen-SS. One side of the goblet displays the distinctive emblem of the highly coveted German Sniper’s Badge, a stylized eagle clutching oak leaves with the date “1944” beneath it, symbolizing exceptional marksmanship during the latter stages of the war. The opposite side bears the emblem of the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler: a shield with a downward-pointed rifle framed by a laurel wreath, and flanked by engraved SS runes. This unmistakably links the piece to the most elite and ideologically charged formation of the Waffen-SS. Whether presented as an award or crafted as a ceremonial honor, this goblet is both a rare and evocative artifact. Its symbolism speaks directly to the elite nature of wartime German sniper units and their integral role within SS Panzer divisions. A striking relic of wartime militaria that blends artistry, recognition, and historical gravity. One side of the goblet shows a stylized German eagle grasping oak leaves with the date “1944” beneath it, commonly associated with military service awards and marksman recognition during the Third Reich. The opposite side shows a bold emblem: a shield featuring a downward-pointed rifle overlaid on a laurel wreath, with stylized “SS” runes engraved below, possibly linking this piece to the elite Waffen-SS member. These goblets were sometimes presented to snipers or sharpshooters in recognition of marksmanship, service, or during divisional shooting competitions. While the precise provenance of this example is unconfirmed, the engraved SS insignia, date, and martial symbolism make it a compelling and significant relic of Germany’s wartime history.
